    Peanut Butter Powder!

Oh! I've gotta look for that! I have surgery on Monday and need to hit the store one more time for some last minute things. WHERE in the store did you find it? Was it in the natural foods section or ? Thank you!!!
  3. Gonna brag- My turkey meatballs are awesome! I put feta cheese crumbles in them along w/chopped roasted red bell peppers. You can find them in jars. I buy Mezzetta brand. Scoop then bake. We rarely even put a sauce on them. My young daughter will even take them for lunch and eat them cold! They are SO good!
  4. What stage is he? I've done applesauce, yogurt, peanut butter. I've also just chewed 'em up and swallowed w/a bit of water. I know it's nasty but sometimes it's just faster and easier to just chew them up and eat them.

    New Band To Sleever Here

I worry about that too. I lost fairly well the first year, then after having a horrible bout of the flu before my first year was up eventually gained back up to my surgery day weight and couldn't get the right fill level. Either to tight to get anything down or too open and could get every thing down! When I went to see my doc on the 9th [May], yet again, but for a new issue, I was shocked when he told me it has to come out and this is what he thinks we should do! So I've spent the last month wrapping my head around having WLS again AND moving on to a different type! Logically I know that I did all I could to work my band and that IT failed me but I still have my doubts about being able to make this one work for me too! It is only today, two days before my surgery, that I am sort of getting excited. I'm glad to hear you're doing well! Congrats on your early WL. Keep up the great work!

    Question

I just called my surgical team coordinator to double-check and she says my fingers and toes are fine and I don't need to take any of it off. Check with your offices if you're concerned. Every surgeon/hospital has different guidelines.
  7. Try peeling the outer layer off of them using your potato peeler. I LOVE broccoli, especially the stalks, I peel the outer layer off and they are MUCH easier to chew and get down.
  8. My doc said a SMALL sip is okay if you're sort of choking or something is a smidge too dry but really, other than tha, I don't miss drinking w/eating much. It just takes getting used to a new way of doing things. That whole habit thing. I love turkey meatballs! They have bags of frozen ones in the freezer case at the grocery store if you don't want to make them. I use those when I am not interested in homemaking a batch.

    Question

I've got gel nails on my fingers and color on my toes. No one has said anything to me. I go in on Monday for my surgery. Best bet for you would be to call your doc's office and ask the nurse. Best wishes on your surgery!

    Congratulations!!! How fun!
  11. After nearly 4 years w/the band, I'm used to it now. You'll adjust. Just FYI some meats and veggies are just going to take a lot of work. Pork, steak and fibrous foods are a pain. I've stopped eating a lot of meat just because of that. Just can't get it chewed enough or it's nasty by the time I do. Just a thought. Even NON-WLS people do not chew their food enough. I didn't realize how bad of an eater I was in that respect until I became conscious of how I eat. I was pretty much NOT chewing my food! Become conscious of HOW you eat as well as WHAT you eat. Slow down and enjoy the food. Especially now that there is a lot less of it!
  12. Thank you! Now that I've got everything settled for my daughter while my husband is with me at the hospital, I'm more relaxed. Starting to actually get a little excited. I need to be at the hospital by 8:40AM, so surgery probably by 11 or so. Prayers and best wishes for all of us!
  13. Good news! Prayers for your continued healing.
  14. I'm pre-op right now so am on shakes as well as solid Protein before surgery on Monday. B/c of my band issues tho, I've pretty much been using Protein Shakes, daily for well over a year. I just plain can't eat in the morning. Lately b/c of my slip, it's just easier to drink shakes for the most part. I eat one solid meal a day. Today, I was actually able to eat tuna for lunch and some FF chili for dinner. Took a hecka long time but it worked. I am looking forward to being able to have some roughage in my diet. I love veggies and haven't been able to eat them for a month or so now. Miss fruit too. Threw some strawberries in to my shake tonight but it's just not the same. I think 3 months of liquids only is a bit much. Post-op, I've got 2 weeks, then softs for a couple of weeks and so-on.
  15. I can't tolerate Whey Isolate so have to use other alternatives. I just got in the mail today some NOW egg white Protein powder. I'll try that tonight w/my final shake of the day and see how that goes. Some sites have samples available, see if you can find those as much as possible. unjury has a sample kit for about $20 and Bariatrics Advantage looked like they have samples too. Best wishes!
  16. You can not beat yourself up about this. That mindset has to change too! A lot of things we do out of habit. Years and years of habit. Last Wednesday, went into a local candy shop looking for empty goody boxes to use for my DD's b-day party. The gal, offered me a bowl filled with flavored chews. I grabbed an orange one, not even thinking about it and popped it into my mouth as I headed out the door. Took me getting ACROSS the parking lot to my truck before I realized what I'd done! I'm on my freaking pre-op diet of low cal/high protein!!! Whoops!!! I did enjoy it, felt some remorse but it was an honest accident and I moved on. I've since tried to be more mindful! I DID learn a lesson! A thought, since when I walk in the door, I head for the kitchen. It's where we unload before moving on to the rest of the house. Instead of fixing something to eat, try making yourself a drink. Flavored Water w/ice, or glass/mug of tea, or Protein shake, or... Whatever it takes to break that habit of reaching for food the minute you're in the door. That would slow you down, you'd become mindful, and be able to stop the automaton that most of us have become over the years.I don't know about you but I'm always chasing another drink. I am always behind on my 8 a day! This would help that process too. Best wishes!!!

    Pre Op Tomorrow!

    How'd it go today?

    Pre Op Tomorrow!

Pre-op day for me meant chest x-ray, EKG, blood work, meeting w/my surgeon and an information class about the surgery types and nutrition, eating, etc. Probably close to the same for you. Be sure to ask any questions you might have. May not be a better time later. Have a great day!
  21. I am so sorry! Take the time you need and then reschedule. Now wouldn't be a good time for physical healing along with the emotions you'll be dealing with. Take care and lots of prayers for you and your family.

    Please Help With Puree Stage

ANYTHING soft that can be pureed in a blender or w/a blender stick. Did you get a bunch of papers from your doc? There might be food ideas in there for the different stages post-op. I've got a ton of stuff from my doc. I'm still trying to go thru it all. Hang on, let me see what my paperwork says... MY doc has me on Protein shakes and drinks for the first 2 weeks. 3-4 weeks= the usual eggs of all sorts (scrambled, poached, boiled, substitute), yogurts, cottage cheeses, Peanut Butter (b/c of my band process I still can't say PB as a shortcut for the food!), low fat or part skim cheeses, dry couscous (?), skim milk, soy milk. Week 4 add: beens of all sorts, lentils, fish of all sorts, nuts of all sorts, seafood of all sorts, quinoa. He calls that his Level 2 diet. At level 3 you're heading in to week 5-6 and adding chicken/turkey first, followed by pork, beef, etc the following weeks. Definitely check your paperwork or call your doc's office or the Nut if you're working with one. Good luck!!
