Oh how awful! I sure hope you can get this resolved quickly! My first thought was when doing low-fat, sugar free, the sweetness has to come from something artificial so I was wondering if that was it. But you said it even happened on eggs. Gallbladder maybe? I'm just reaching here. Praying for you!

I'm off for 3 weeks but if I don't drastically improve by my appt on Thursday, I might ask for another week off. I ride a desk but am up and down a lot. I have a really busy and somewhat stressful job. I figured I'd be back by the 18th. Ummm yeah, not going to happen!

When Can You Start Taking Whole Pills Without Crushing Them?
MamaM replied to readytobeslimxoxox's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For whatever reason it's worse for me to crush and then try to get that powder in to something. I just cut them in to little pieces and chew each little piece up really quick. I don't know if that helps or not! -
I went a few days after surgery. Popcorn smelled good but I really was fine. I was surprised!!!

I love Click! Been using it for more than a year now. I have it auto-shipped from Amazon. Best price for it is there, if you're doing shipping, even if you don't auto-ship. The company sells packets too so you can try it first. Always a good idea if it's possible. The Protein comes from the milk and soy they use. I can't do Whey Isolate, so most of the protein powders and RTDs everyone talks about, I can't have.

At 4 weeks, I'll be able to start adding beans, fish, nuts and seafood. Week 5, I can add chicken and turkey. Week 6, I can add pork and beef.

Sleeping Is So Different
MamaM replied to Amytequilahouse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm pretty soon out from surgery but I sleep all propped up. I have a wedge pillow that I put more pillows on. I'm finding it a lot less painful for my left side. I slept flat one night and 1/2 way thru, pulled everything back in to place and got propped up again! I'm sleeping well other than waking to carefully turn. -
I would head to the ER. At the very least call your doc's office and ask to talk to a nurse and see what they say. It doesn't sound good at all. Best wishes to you!

Aliens- heehee! Love it!!! I start the soft stuff in a few days. Looking forward to it. I'm on protein shakes and 0 calorie liquids right now. Reading these threads helps b/c I'm seeing that I need to go VERY slow and even tho I have ideas on what I'm looking forward to trying, that it may not all work out the way I hope. Thank you!

Did I Break My New Sleeve?
MamaM replied to Iwantitgone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't panic! I was 194 at the start of my 2 week pre-op, Surgery day was 186, came home at 191, today was 180. I'm 9 days out from surgery. I hear of folks losing 20+ lbs in the first week after surgery! I'm not one of those folks. I've always been a slow loser. Same happened after I was banded. I never had the rapid or large amounts that other folks seem to have. Don't get me wrong- I am THRILLED w/the 6lbs gone. Just sayin' that I'm a slow one! -
We just make small batches when we want it. Tho at some point, I'm going to get more organized and do what PDX does!!! Anyway, we peel/core, then dice the apples. Anywhere from 1 to a few, how ever many we want. Then we boil in a small amount of Water til super soft, then I use my potato masher to break up the chunks. We like it a little chunky so we don't mash 'em too much. Then season to taste. Yumm! When we buy applesauce, we love the Trader Joe's. We've done that w/ pears and w/peaches too. While it's still warm, we'd put it over a small scoop of vanilla ice cream. My daughter loves it! Would be SO good, once cooled a little, over some greek yogurt!

Protein Shakes The Best, The Good, The Okay, And The Don't Do It List
MamaM replied to ChristyLove's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use a shaker w/the metal "ball" in it. Works fine for the most part. I do use my blender sometimes if I'm adding ice but it also adds volume (air). Right now, I don't need any extra air! LOL!!! -
How Much Time Off Work
MamaM replied to lizzyshade's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc has me off for 3. I was going to try to go back on Monday, after 2 but not sure I can. We'll see how I'm doing by the end of the week. I ride a desk part time but there will be some full days coming up and I'm not sure I can handle them. W/the full 3 weeks off, might be better for me in handling the 4th & 5th when I need to do the full 9-5 thing. Tiffany, as far as driving, I did a little today. Just a few miles in to town for my nail appt and then those few miles back. Ran no other errands and I was tired. Okay but definitely tired. My doc said if I'm off the pain meds, I can drive. Well, I just didn't take them this morning. Took some when I got home and take them at night so I rest well. If you aren't sure, call the office and ask them. I can't do any thing long right now, that's for sure. Just short trips and only for short times. -
I am so sorry you are having to go thru this! Healing prayers!!!

That has probably got to be the most awesome NSV ever!!! Congratulations!!! Thank you so much for sharing with us!!!

I know you said you thinned them out but I'm wondering HOW you did it? I was thinking if you used your blender w/some chicken broth and pureed the heck out of them, virtually making a smooth Soup, then that would help! I'm sorry you're having problems w/stuff. I'm not there yet so don't know if anything is going to end up a big fat no for me.

Feeling Miserable 4 Days Post Op
MamaM replied to Butterflylegacy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my gosh! You can not imagine how RELIEVED I am!!! I am so glad there was nothing serious going on I was sooooo worried! Take good care of yourself!! -
I feel ya! I've got a cuddler too! She was 2 when I had my band surgery. I'd put my little pillow on my tummy and she would climb up and snuggle. She is 6 now and really good about being careful w/me but we still snuggle! Is your little guy much of a climber? Can you get down a little closer to his level. A kinda meet in the middle thing? Are there some large pillows/cushions that you can put on the ground and build up so he can climb up to you? Might have to steady him some while he does it until he gets the hang of it. What about building a ramp of some sort that he can use to crawl up to the couch? I'm just thinking of the ramp DH built for me so I could get in and out of our living room after my foot surgery. I'm not sure I'm helping. Just throwing ideas out there. Maybe some one else can expand on them or gets a better idea. I know it's hard but you REALLY don't want to hurt yourself right now. That will just make the healing take longer. Hope you can come up with something!

Almost Done With Full Liquid...i Want Food!
MamaM replied to twistedkitten25's topic in Rants & Raves
I'm getting anxious to get to the pureed/mushy stage too! I've still got another week. Most of the time I'm okay but once in awhile I start perusing the pantry. Soup sounds so good right now! Doc has me on 1 shake a day and 0 calorie liquids. -
It IS so confusing! I think what it all boils down to is playing w/in the "system" so to speak, to find the best fit for you and see where that takes you. It may work or not. Or works for a bit, then you've got to change it up again. If you are losing, meeting your protein goals and otherwise feel good, then you're probably doing alright. If, on the other hand, something isn't working, then you have to find a different way of doing things. All of us are so different, what works for one of us, may not work for another, even if that person swears by it! Kinda like our tastes in protein! LOL!
