3.5 Weeks Out And Still Having Pain........ :0/
Mela replied to dsleon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im 5 weeks out and I have the same issue from time to time. Mine still bleed on occasion because my stitch came apart. My doc looked at it and said it was fine. Just have your doc take a look at it. As a side note, I think I started back exercising way too soon do its my fault the stitch bust!! -
Same here. I was sleeves May 7th and fish is my go to food. Everything else is up in the air. My sleeve doesn't like cherries and I'm not happy about that!!

Checking in!!! Goal for July 4th is 25 pounds Progress: As of 6/7/12: down 5 pounds. Walking and jogging for one hour 3x this week. Strength training for one hour 2x this week. Exercising is helping so much. I'm losing more inches than pounds. One more goal for July 4th is to run the entire track for half mile. Lets see what happens!!

United Healthcare - Still Waiting On Approval ...
Mela replied to Estrovan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have UHC and was required to do 6 month weight monitoring, psych eval, letter from PCP supporting the surgery and meeting with dietician. Once everything was done and submitted, the approval came within a few days. I was okay with the 6 month wait cause it forced me to make sure that the surgery was best for me. -
I had my 3 week follow up appointment today. My doc prescribe actigall and the dietician requests I take calcium citrate, iron and b12 supplements. So far I am on the right track and I am down 30 pounds. Im still adjusting to eating smaller portions and making sure I stay hydrated. So far so good, in hoping to drop more pounds soon because Im tired of looking at my fat belly!!

Sleeved May 7th, down 22 lbs!

I was thinking the same thing. I was told I will have labs at my 6 month and yearly appointments. It feels weird that I won't have to go back for 6 months but my doctor office encouraged me to come in before if needed.

Milwaukee Area Vsg Surgeons? Chicago?
Mela replied to Purpleswirlie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved by Dr. Regan at Columbia St. Mary's in Milwaukee. It's a great team and they keep you informed and provide a lot of support. There's also a bariatric program at Aurora. I attended their information session and it seemed like they make you do all the work when dealing with the insurance. St. Mary's took care of everything for me. -
Who To Tell And Not Tell....
Mela replied to kmoore's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally told my sister and two of my friends. My sister told my parents and brother. I asked my parents not to tell anyone but they can't hold water!! My dad told my Grandma who called and talked to me until I told her (I know she already knew). I have not told my best childhood friend because she has made it clear she is against it. No one at my job know about it. I just feel I don't have to explain my decision to anyone. It's my life and my body and my decision to share my business. -
Since Surgery I Have Never Been In For A Post Op Visit
Mela replied to blackanese25's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My schedules follow ups are at 3 weeks, 6 months and one year with the bariatric team or if I feel the need to come in so you are probably fine. All of my labs Pre-op were done with my PCP because I chose a doctor that was not in the same network as my PCP. Just make sure you continue following the plan and you should be fine. Doctor visits are expensive enough and I'm glad I don't have to go in every month like I did Pre-op. -
I Don't Know How To Shop Lol......
Mela replied to andi0120's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You look great!!! Keep up the food work. I haven't gone shopping yet but my current clothes aren't feeling as snug as they use to. I'm ecstatic about that. I'm only 2 weeks out tomorrow so I'm hoping this time next month, I can shop a little bit!! -

I love bananas but somehow they make me sick!! I cut the skin from an apple and puréed it, it worked pretty good. Strawberries go down good for me to but I cut them into bit size pieces and mixed them with my cottage cheese.

My doc said anything fried including eggs are not allowed so I dont eat scrambled eggs. Eggs are a good source of protein as well. I've mixed my eggs and tuna with a little relish (tip of the fork full) and it went down fine. I also did it with salmon.
-
Boiled eggs are awesome. Also, cream of wheat and cottage cheese taste good. I've even been able to eat plain tuna.
