  1. Yes. I went by myself. I did not feel afraid at all while I was there. The hotel area is very nice. I would suggest to update to an ocean view room. It felt good to sit outside on the balcony and get the fresh gulf air and listen to the waves. Everyone was nice and helpfull
  2. Had my surgery with Dr Joya on Sept 12th,2012. You should have a very good experience. when you go. I had no problems and I am doing good now. Have lost 34 lbs so far, which is good for me. I didn't think I would lose this much after just 2 months. Weight coming off more slowly now, byt still coming off. sandi
  3. I am in PV hospital right now after having my surgery. sept 12 2010. Dr Joya Has been great as well as the rest of the staff. I was having pain in my stomach when I would drink anything and they felt it was best to check it out. They did an EGD and f ound i just had some inflammation so,Dr gave me a shot and I am now able to drink much easier He did not just slough it off, he was really concerned obout my well fair. I am staying a little longer here at the hospital to make sure all is well before going to hotel tomorrow. I am very pleased with my experience. Any other questions feel free to ask. He is a great surgeon and very compassionate toward his patients. sls362@comcast.net

  9. Lisa-- I will be traveling by myself when I go. I have to see a hemetologist to see if there is a problem with my immune system before I get the surgery. I have done the bloodwork and I will see the dr in 1 wk when test results r back. Once I know that I can reschedule the surgery. Hopefully still for end of Aug or beginning of sept It was good to hear from u also sleeve guru--- thank u for your info about Dr Joya It is good to hear from someone about him. Do not get muxh on the forum about him--- sandi
  10. HI LISA i was supposed to have my surgery with Dr Joya on 6/13 but I ended up in the hospital mid april for 5 days with a toxic cellulitis in my thigh and had to have surgery. Was on antibiotics for three weeks and 1 week after finishing antibiotics, ended up with a urinary tract infection. My primary Dr stated that he felt the sleeve surgery should be put off for a little bit until my body healed a little more and was not so immunocompromised, So-------- I am now planning to have it the end of august or beginning of sept. It is good to see that someone else is going to Dr Joya. Most everyone on this forum has gone to TJ etc. Would luv to be friends so we can give each other support during both of our adventures in PV and afterwards. Send me an email at sls362@comcast.net to let me know Hope to hear from u soon------------------- Sandi a
