I went back to work on day 8. I was fine, but the first week back I was VERY tired about halfway through each day. By the beginning of week three postop I felt back to normal for the most part.

Everyone loses at their own pace. Don't be discouraged. Follow what the doc tells you and let your body do what it needs to do. Some people are just slow losers (I am one of those myself). Just keep in mind, you are losing, NOT gaining

Dear Veterans, has your hunger returned?
kmoore replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am 15 months post op. I get hungry, with stomach growl and all, but unlike preop, if I drink some water, I can satisfy that hunger usually for another one to two hours. I really only had about 2-3 months where I wasn't hungry at all. -
I didn't over eat, I just wasn't eating the right foods. My guess is, no, it did not stretch. I still have restriction when I eat.

Hey Britt. Sorry it's been a couple of days. Had a death in the family which got me VERY down. Wasn't exercising at all and was eating more "comfort" foods. I wasn't overeating, just not exercising and eating the wrong foods. I've since snapped out of it and exercise 7 days a week for at least 90 minutes a day. Is making a BIG difference in my mood and weight

I spelled it out and the site abbreviated it...and I thought spell check was bad! LOL

I also live in Rock Hill and work in Charlotte. Had mine done 10-15-12 by Dr. Vollenger with Southeast Bariatrics. Lost from 239lbs to 177lbs the first year, had some "life issues" and am at 192lbs today. I am back on target with eating and exercise again and have lost 7lbs since Christmas The sleeve is like any tool, it does not work if not used properly. I am happy to be using it correctly again and am determined to meet my goal weight by this time next year

If it is not a bougie, the measurement size might be different than that of a bougie. If your surgeon is accredited and knowledgeable, with many other successful sleeves under his belt, I'm sure it will be fine. Good luck with your surgery

Did anyone enjoy the 2 week pre-op diet as much as me? Really not bad....
kmoore replied to Girl on the Blvd's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did a protein shake for breakfast, lunch and dinner on most days. I used Chike and Syntax Nectar brands mostly and mixed most of them with skim milk. I liked the taste of them better with milk rather than water. I also got Isopure clear protein drinks and sipped on them all day between meals. I had 2 weeks pre-op and 2 weeks post op...all of the above is sweet tasting and I was SOOOO sick of the sweet. So, to change up, sometimes I would have broth soups and add in Unjury Unflavored protein powder to boost the protein, or I would have Chicken Soup flavored Unjury protein powder. I also LIVED on sugar free popsicles. Gave me something to bite The 1st 2 days were rough, but not because I was hungry...it was because of the habit of chewing After I made it past that, it was pretty easy. -

Slider just means that it is a food that you can eat alot of without the full feeling...usually those are foods that you should not eat often or at all. I think you are thinking of what is called "dumping" effect, which happens more often to gastric bypass patients. Us sleevers fortunately do not often have this problem, though sometimes too much food or the wrong foods can make you vomit Glad you are doing so well! Keep it up

Vitamin B will give it a neon yellow color initially and also an odor...but the more water you drink throughout the day, the less smelly and yellow it becomes. If your urine is stinky all day, that is a sign of not enough fluids and really does not have much to do with the vitamins. My urine is normally VERY neon the 1st pee of the day after I have taken my vitamins, but then I go about once an hour due to how much water I drink and by lunchtime, it is nearly clear and odorless Working in the lab at my office, I see many urine samples come through...and I can tell who drinks fluids and who doesn't...ICK!

Why am I a Slowwwwwwwww loser?
kmoore replied to newgrandmother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't really frequent the forum much anymore because of my slow loser status. Surgery was Oct 15th, 2012. Top weight: 238lbs, SW: 209lbs, today's weight: 180lbs. I have gone from size 20-22 pants to a size 11-12 and from XXL shirts to M-L. So I DO see a BIG difference. But I see so many others posting they have lost so much more than I have in even a shorter time frame. I have been stalled for 2 months now too, which is discouraging sometimes, even though I am still seeing inches fall off....thank goodness I did take measurements or I really WOULD be upset I certainly haven't given up, but I so want to be in the 170's. I hit 179.5 last week, and went back up to 180 this week. I just can't seem to get out of the 80's...UGH! I would LOVE to be 135-140 as my ultimate goal...but I have really set my goal at 150lbs as I remember WAY by when I looked and felt great at that weight. Also, my main reason for this surgery was to be healthier and I am off of all of my meds...a HUGE NSV for me! Perfect sugar levels, no high blood pressure anymore and cholesterol looks awesome. Then I look at my percentage of weight loss and look at the stats and see that, really, I am right on track. Still want the 170's -

Question for people who had the surgery WITH insurance.
kmoore replied to Iniysa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Cigna with an out of pocket max of $2500 and then 90/10. I had the $2500 met pre-surgery just based on all of the appointments and tests needed (surgery was October last year). The 10% owed came to just over $500 and that was billed to me. Never really understood how you owe money after you meet out of pocket max, but oh, well. -
How difficult is it to learn to not eat and drink at the same time?
kmoore replied to Simone21943's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This was difficult for me to prepare for pre-op, but now I don't really even think about it. When we go out, I do order water, just so I don't have to explain why I don't need a drink. I sometimes will take one or 2 SMALL sips to help wash a drier food down, but normally never touch it -
When did your toughest weight loss plateau occur?
kmoore replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I hit my 1st stall at 2 months and stayed there for 4 weeks. I dropped 10lbs more in about 3 weeks time and now have been stalled for about 8 weeks. I am seeing inches disappear though, so although I would like to see the lbs move, I am not completely bummed. In 5 months I have dropped 55lbs and 6 dress sizes! Weight wise, I would like to drop another 45lbs, but would be ok with another 30.
