How Long Does Cigna Approval Take ?

I'm on day 27...or 20 business days out. Insurance coordinator told me there was 61 pages sent. So I guess it takes a team of employees to look at 2 pages a day. No wonder healthcare is so expensive! Lol And when a patient wants something from the office I work at, we are to have no more than a 24 hour turn around time!!!! Geez!

    Bmi 37.2

Here is the criteria for United Healthcare and WLS: https://www.unitedhealthcareonline.com/ccmcontent/ProviderII/UHC/en-US/Assets/ProviderStaticFiles/ProviderStaticFilesPdf/Tools%20and%20Resources/Policies%20and%20Protocols/Medical%20Policies/Medical%20Policies/Bariatric_Surgery.pdf It basically says BMI of 40 or greater OR 35 with one or more co-morbidity (and they list these). You will also have to go through 6 month medical management.

    Lump In Arm...

I would still want it checked. Heat is not a good sign. Sending healing prayers your way.
  6. I use the Nioxin System 3. I am pre-op with fine/thin hair already, so thought I might try giving my hair a boost and hopefully have my hair at least stronger by the time I go through this part. My hairdresser recommended this to me, but there is a online tool you can use on Nioxin's website that helps determine which system to use.... http://nioxin.com/ Go to the Consultation Tool I love your new do! Very cute
  7. Do remember that BMI is relative. It is based on height and weight. It does not consider body structure, which differs with everybody. Two people that are 5' 2" will not look the same at the same weight, for example, simply due to their general body structure. Sometimes the actual number has to be overlooked. How do you feel? Are you off of meds? THOSE are the important things to consider. All of that being said, I also believe that if you follow everything to the letter with nutrition and exercise, this will allow for a greater loss overall. The "normal" loss with the sleeve is considered to be 70% or so...this would put me at 150lbs...which I remember being at LONG ago and remember looking and feeling great at this weight. However, if I go by BMI, this will still be obese for me. 138lbs is the top of normal BMI for me. I'm not going to sweat it. Whatever gets me healthy is golden with me

    Big Mistake!

I think alot of us are in the states and don't regularly use grams. It would be difficult to talk in grams, just as ounces are a mystery to you. I find this online conversion tool EXTREMELY helpful http://www.onlineconversion.com/weight_volume_cooking.htm
  9. {{HUGS}} I am so sorry you are having to go through this. I agree she needs a hospital psych evaluation. If your husband can help you to get her there, that would be great....or maybe he can find out what she thinks you did that has caused her to flip? If she was threatening to jump out of a moving vehicle, to me, that is a suicide threat. Again {{HUGS}}.

    Super Upset!

If you have the paper, there shouldn't be an issue. Make sure you have a COPY of it with you on Tuesday. Save the original at home Good luck with everything.

    Jerks.

Weak moments happen. I work in an office where there is a specified break room we are required to eat in. If that were the situation, then definitely, I would be the one to get up and go. However, and I understand that you all probably always eat at your desks...but if there is a break room, personally, if they are your friends, I don't see a problem with asking what you asked. I work at a doctor's office and during the holidays we receive DAILY treats from all over! Specialist offices send stuff, patients send stuff...chocolate, cookies, candies, cakes!!!! Last year I asked if instead of putting all of it on the counter in medical records where I would continuously pass it and be tempted, if they would put it all in the breakroom. They obliged me and all was well. When I was in the breakroom eating what I brought for lunch, I was able to "just say no"...but in short passings through medical records...1 chocolate here, one cookie there...it was just too easy Unfortunately, looks like friends or not, they are simply creatures of habit that won't change. Hang in there.

    Picture

If not on an iPhone...go to the top right corner of your screen...you will see your screen name with a drop down arrow, click the drop down and go to "My Patient Profile", then go to "My Photos". I just lucked up on that...took me a couple of months on here before I found it...lol
  13. Looks like you have 90lbs to go, if your ticker is correct. You mentioned you were getting into working out again...like you haven't been working out. That may be the very reason for your slow losing. Eating right and exercising at least 5 times a week is key for any weight loss to happen...with or without surgery. The sleeve is, like all have said, just a tool. Good luck! You can do it!

    Big Mistake!

I'm with Cigna. I was required to do 6 months of medical management, along with seeing a nutritionist, exercise physiologist, and psychologist. Cigna changed the requirement to 3 months of the above the VERY month I had finished my 6 months...lol. I am VERY glad for the 6 months and think that even 3 months is not enough time to get it all straight in your head. Everything was sent to Cigna this past week and I should know a date within about 7 days! Also, with the 6 months, I bought things I thought I might want or need that I didn't already have slowly, as to not break the bank all at once:) I got a new Ninja Kitchen System and a Toaster Oven...along with a TINY scale to carry in my purse for "out" eating (found a perfect one at a...."head" shop...lololol)! I already had a kitchen-size scale for the house

    Beer - Ouch

I was thinking the same thing. Nothing sexier than a man that knows how to pick and present a good wine to his significant other
  16. Father passed away at age 63 of massive heart attack. He was not obese and only had hyperlipidemia (controlled with med). He also ate healthy and exercised daily. There are other reasons for me, but none that matter nearly as much as that one.

    Bummed At People's Reactions

I have been putting off telling my step-mom (dad is deceased) and my mother (who lives in another state). I know their reactions would be less than supportive. I finally told my step-mom last Thursday. I see her every week for choir practice and we eat a healthy dinner beforehand, but there would be no way of explaining why I was on a pure liquid diet for 4 weeks without spilling it about my surgery...so I finally just told her. Yup, less than supportive. Then, at church Sunday, a lady pointed out that I was looking great and to keep up whatever I am doing (I have lost 33 lbs on the 6-month managed diet). Step-mom's response was, "See, people think you look great. You shouldn't jump the gun and do surgery when you could still lose it without it"! I felt bad because I did snap at her a little. Told her that I wasn't asking her permission. I made my mind up about this several months ago and that she didn't "live" IN me. She doesn't know how I feel. And furthermore, it's not really about how I LOOK...it's about not dying young like my dad because of all of my medical issues. She still made a snide remark or two, but agreed she wouldn't bring it up again. I thanked her for that, and then apologized for snapping. I don't think my mother will be quite so judgmental, but because she will be afraid for me, will still try to talk me out of it. I feel badly about having to tell her over the phone and not face-to-face. She and I are close and can normally talk about anything to each other. My husband, my co-workers and my best friend are all very supportive...but I do wish that the other 2 would be as such as well.
  18. How exciting! Sending you fast healing prayers

    Day One

Are they giving you any Phentermine to help with appetite control? That helped me in the beginning of my 6 months. Also, I did one protein shake a day, plus exercise 5 days a week. You can do it Congrats on the decision to improve your health! You will find that the 6 months will fly by. Take this time to try new recipes and see what you like. High protein, low carb. Buy kitchen supplies you think you might want for post op. I bought a new blender and a toaster oven I found cute little spoons and forks, so I will learn to eat smaller bites. Also found popsicle forms so I can make those yummy protein-cicles from eggface's recipes without using a dixie cup. There is just so many neat things to get...and it gave me an excuse to shop!!!! (The BEST part...lol).
  21. Prayers and positive thoughts comin' your way!

    Any Charlotte Nc Sleevers?

Great meeting you last night! I really enjoyed the meeting. Will definitely be trying to make it each month
  23. Each pic looks like something different. The bullseye one looks to me like a spider or tick bite. The 1st one looks like a boil forming and the last one looks like just a simple dermatitis. All can itch. Definitely see your MD about it though. Hope it's nothing that will postpone your surgery tomorrow.
