Things I Won't/don't Miss About The Band...
Calicolea replied to hrtgoeson's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
All of the above. Plus.... 1. Taking one sip of Water after eating and going from fine to throwing up. 2. Not being able to find a doctor that would even fill a band anymore. 3. After eating, feeling full in my chest and not in my stomach. The worst! 4. Over-filled band. -
A great big HOORAH to you both! Nettan- Remember, you have to drive thru Twoterland to get to Onederland :tongue2: I'm still driving thru it too, I'm just a little farther down the road. Sit back and ENJOY the ride! Smontgomery - Beep Beep here I come.......... I'll be there soon LOL

I'm Desperately Hungry!

Love those! Agree with what you said completely. -
Greetings..... so glad I found your support group. I had a gastric sleeve on 5/4/12, just five days ago. It was a revision from a lap band I had nine years ago. The band worked perfectly at first and I dropped over 100 lbs and acheived a normal BMI, but it started giving me problems about three years ago, due to a doctor overfilling it. I was experiencing horrible reflux and eventually needed a hiatal hernia repair and my esphogus became dialated. Since I had so many problems, I've basically been without a fill for the last three years and...... you guessed it...... I progressively gained most of my weight back. My doctor recommended I look into a gastric sleeve since the band would no longer work for me. I was a self-pay and eventually choose Dr. Hector Perez in Cancun. My hubby got a great vacation in Cancun and I got my revision. LOL Got back yesterday, but I must say it was a horrible trip getting home. I did get a wheelchair at the Cancun airport and the Florida airport so that helped a lot, but the overall day was filled with lots of pain. But, not just from the surgery.... I think from walking hunched over after my surgery, because my stomach hurt, I somehow wrenched my back and now it hurts worse than my stomach LOL leave it to me. Has anyone else done that? I'm thinking I can't go to a chiropractor because I can't lay on my stomach and don't want anyone jarring me around right after surgery, so I'm hobbling around with a cane..... ugh Glad to be here and looking forward to "meeting" lots of you. Dooter and Besquared...... Thanks for the welcome! Much appreciated Artsy, thanks for the advice..... my back is much better. I've been sleeping in my hubby's "man chair" (the recliner) and it's done wonders.

Need Help/advice From Old Sleevers - I Failed :(
Calicolea replied to Wishful Butterfly's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know you asked for help from experienced sleevers, and I only had my surgery a week ago, but I'd like to chime in. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I'd call you a success if you are down to 183. You lost an amazing amount of weight. Question - Do you have the means or desire to have the excess skin removed? That may be a big portion of the weight still left to reach goal. I had lap band 9 years ago and lost over 100 lbs and had lots and lots of saggy skin. I did have a tummy tuck and breast reduction that fixed lots of the problems. /Hugs to you -
I'm Desperately Hungry!
Calicolea replied to marimar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Got my first hunger pang last night when my DH was cooking his dinner. The smells were driving me crazy! I'd been lucky and not had any hunger yet, but my surgery was only a week ago and my tummy is really swollen. I'm feeling hunger again this morning though so maybe everything is waking back up...... uh oh -
Who To Tell And Not Tell....
Calicolea replied to kmoore's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can totally relate to what you are going thru. I had my surgery a week ago and the only person that knows is my husband. The only other person I even mentioned the surgery to was my sister-in-law, and I did that pre-op to see if she had any insight about the procedure because she's a nurse. She wasn't very supportive, so I let it be. My family and my husband's family are all long distances away, so it makes it much easier to not talk about it. My advice is tell people when you feel comfortable, and if you don't, then don't say anything. It is your body, your choice and your right to discuss it or not. -
Surgery must be getting close.... best of luck!!!

I checked my One-A-Day gummies, and for two they are 10 calories, 3 carbs and 3 sugars.

I'm not an experienced sleever, just got mine a week ago, but I have always had a problem with Vitamins giving me horrible indegestion. So here's what I do..... I take one or two One-A-Day gummies. I have no heartburn or reflux from them. In fact I'm still on liquids, but can still take them by putting them in my mouth and just letting them dissolve. It tastes just like a real gummy. I think One-A-Day has different versions with extra things added like Iron and calcium also, but I just use the multi-vitamin. Hope you feel better!

Help......is This Normal?
Calicolea replied to xelapaul's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is so weird..... same thing just happened to me! I woke up about a half hour ago with bitter Fluid coming up my throat. It's still burning. This is about the third or fouth time it's happened. I am a revision from the band and remember this problem if my band was tight or I drank too close to bed time. I just got my sleeve on May 4th, so I'm wondering if this will continue to be a problem or is it something that happens at the beginning and then subsides? Thanks for any advice.... I'm a noob sleever and looking for all the help I can get -
I'm not getting nausea, but anything I drink causes stomach cramps, even water. It almost feels like a contraction. Hoping it will get better in the next few days. It makes me not want to drink anything.
