(Not Diagnosed As Such) Hypochondriac..lol.
Calicolea replied to Marty McSkinnystein's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think researching all your options and learning everything you can about the sleeve is a good thing. But that being said........Maybe after your research, you should focus on the good things it will do for your body instead of the possible complications. Maybe that will help you cope. -
Lap Band To Sleeve Questions
Calicolea replied to teshadb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most of the insurance companies have pre-op requirements, if you're just getting a sleeve or a revision, and they all seem to be a bit different. My best advice is to call Humana and ask if they will even cover a revision and what are the pre-approval requirements. I did that with my insurance and they gave me all the requirements for my revision. It was exactly the same as if I had never had my band. I ended up being a self-pay. Best of luck -

Oh No, I'm Almost 6 Month Out, And I Learned I Can Snack Again. Help

Sounds like you know what the problem is and are on your way to fixing it, but just for good measure....... here's a swift kick in the butt to keep you going in the right direction Hugs to you! -
I've read the same thing. Anything you can sip thru a straw is considered ok. I used creamy soups when I was on full liquids and they worked well.... but they were just Campbell's varieties, I never made my own.

Good luck..... see you on the other side! Yipeeeee

Great post! My hubby and I sold our Goldwing Trike last year and have replaced it with regular bikes.... the kind with pedals and no engine.... LOL Much better for our health! -
I used Dr. Perez in Cancun. Had a wonderful time and experience. It was easier for me to get to Cancun than any of the other Mexico locations, since I live in Florida. It was only 1 hr 15 mins by plane, it's 7 hrs to San Diego. I had my lapband in Tijuana with no problems 9 years ago so I have nothing bad to say about it, but if I had to choose between the two places Cancun would win everytime. It's gorgeous and so relaxing. My hotel room overlooked the ocean so it was nice to sit on the balcony after surgery and recuperate, plus the flight home was so quick. Best of luck in your search

Stuck Like The Band?
Calicolea replied to sid_n_reagans_mommy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am a revision.... had it on May 4th. The sleeve is nothing like the band for me. I am up to mushies and only had a problem one time when I ate some yogurt too fast and that was a couple weeks ago. No problems since. The way it feels when I eat is completely different...with the band it felt like a lump in my throat after eating, now I actually feel full in my tummy and not my throat. It's so much nicer. The only issue I"m dealing with is reflux at night, but I had that with the band also. I'm on Prilosec twice a day, and have to stop eating a few hours before bedtime, but my doctor thinks it will resolve itself when the healing is done and the swelling is gone. I'm glad I had the revision. -
What Is It Really Like When You Wake Up After Surgery?
Calicolea replied to Luwanna's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought I was really with it right after my surgery, but my husband told me the next day I was loopy and I guess he's right because thinking back I don't remember much until I woke up in my room later that day. My stomach hurt, but I didn't have nausea or a sore throat. sleep was sporadic because the nurses were coming in all the time and it was hard to find a comfortable spot. I was glad I had a hospital bed though, I can't imagine getting up and down without those hydralics. LOL My stomach felt like I had done a gazillion crunches and the muscles were not working. I was required to stay two days and really glad I did. I think the second day is much worse than the first and it was nice to have the TLC the nurses provided. I think my hardest part has been regaining my strength and stamina. I think between surgery and the liquid diet it put a strain on my system. Not sure if it makes a difference, but my surgery was a revision and took over two hours due to scar tissue from the band, so that may make my recovery a bit longer. Having the lapband was a piece of cake..... but the revision was harder. Hope my lil story helps Best of luck on Tuesday.... you will do great!!! -
I Need A May 1St Buddy! Im Feeling Depressed!
Calicolea replied to brittneyly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's wonderful..... grats!!!! -
Sounds pretty normal and pretty much like everything most of us have gone thru..... but if you're ever concerned definately contact your doctor. You are still in the stage where everything is swollen and healing and everything should get a lot better within the next few days. I didn't want anything to drink or eat either. When I did sip Water I had horrible stomach pains.... in fact some were so bad, they felt like labor contractions. I found that ice chips where easier on my tummy than water. I would just continually suck on those to get my liquids in. Hope ya feel better real soon.

I Need A May 1St Buddy! Im Feeling Depressed!
Calicolea replied to brittneyly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does anyone know why there is a 3 week stall? Medically or otherwise? I got sleeved right after you, May 4th, and I'm also in a stall. I have gained and lost the same pound for the last week. I keep reading about the dreaded 3 week stall and am assuming that's what I'm in..... but like you I am so discouraged. I had to do the pre-op diet for 10 days and lost 10 pounds on the pre-op diet, and was happy with that. I had my surgery and when I got home (a whole week later) I hadn't lost anything, and I was very discouraged but chalked it up to fluids and swelling. After I got home I started losing quickly and the weight flew off for a week. Then it was like I hit a brick wall and haven't lost since. I've been walking and started gently swimming 4 days ago. I know I'm not as active as I was pre-op, but still have pain on my left side so taking it easy. I was able to start mushies today. I needed to lose 87 pounds and have lost 24 so I have 63 to go. Hang in there..... you're not in your stall alone...... looks like a few of us are there with you.
