Spicing Up Clear Broth
TinaMari replied to TheNewSusie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on a clear liquid diet for pre-op. I read on here that someone had cream of wheat on there clear liquid diet. Cream of wheat and grits are in the same ballpark so I assume you can try that!? -
Amen!!!! How long did you have to stay in Mexico after the surgery? God always answers our prayers. I'm glad everything worked out for you!!

No prob. I never thought I would have WLS until I was diagnosed with Diabetes, HBP, & High Cholesterol. Once I read about how WLS can put those diseases into remission I was ALL in. Otherwise I would have never even considered it. I know I can loose weight naturally I've just chosen to lolly gag this entire time. And look at where it's gotten me! My friend is going through the same scenario as you. She is overweight but does not have any health problems and is considering the surgery. I gave her the same advice that I gave you. The biggest motivator, to me, to have this surgery is because of those diseases. I read a study that tracked two people 1 who did WLS and 1 who lost the weight naturally the diseases went into remission in the person who had the surgery where as the person who lost weight naturally improved their medical conditions but was on a lower dosage of medicines. I have my whole life ahead of me and I cannot allow these disease and my poor choices to kill me! If you were in my shoes I would definitely tell you to have the surgery. But if you can eliminate the fat before you get to the stage I'm at I say GO FOR IT!!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!! Good Luck ~!!!!

Utimately it is your decision, if you are only 90lbs away from goal with no co-morbid diseases I would encourage you to loose it naturally. I don't see the need of WLS on people that are not severely overweight or don't have serious medical problems. If your truly that scared perhaps you should focus on a strict diet and see if your able to loose weight that way. It may even motivate you to stay on the "natural track"! You never know! I would never encourage anyone to do anything they are not comfortable with. If you really are that scared you should definitely weigh your options and reconsider.

Being Sleeved Has Created A Monster!

Wow. That's an amazing reaction to the sleeve!!! Hehe. I am going to check out that skinnytaste website. Sounds like a great resource! -
Not to be a debbie downer but everyone I know that has tried Stevia said it's HORRIBLE!! I've heard so many negative comments about that stuff that I am not even willing to try it . Besides its a tad on the expensive side. I like Splenda the most. But have you tried sugar in the raw? Not sure if that's "real sugar" or what it is but it's not bad...!

I'm from NJ right across the bridge from the Bronx & Manhattan. But, I live in DC now. I visit home often though. Are you going through the process to be sleeved or are you already done with it? -
Getting Sleeved On 24Th July
TinaMari replied to haich1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on the pre-op diet as well. It is HORRIFIC!!! I wish I could get the surgery like NOW just to get off this terrible diet. Last night I cheated with a salad and said the hell with it! I just find this diet to be super ridiculous. My dr said I didn't have to do an entire 14days. He said 8-10days was fine and that I didn't have to do it exactly. According to him, the last 4-5 days are the most crucial. Either way I am still trying to finish strong and not cheat for the rest of the time I'm on this diet. Today is day 4 for me 6 more days to go and I can't wait!! Hang in there. If it makes you feel any better...You're not alone  ! -
Hi Everyone, I'm scheduled for surgery on the 17th and noone has called me to tell me the exact figures that I have to come out of pocket the day of. I just got off the phone with the hosipital and they claim that someone will call me 1 day prior to my surgery date to give me an exact total. Really!!!? How the hell is that enough time!? I'm so concerned because I don't want to get to the hospital and they tell me my co-pay is like $1500 or something. I don't have any kind of money laying around. I called BCBS and they told me it depends on how the doctor/hospital codes the procedure. I know I have a $150 co-pay per performing surgeon plus $75/day if it's coded as outpatient and 30% of the allowance for drugs... At least that's what the representative of BCBS told me. But WTH does that add up too!!? I need to know exact figures or at least a close estimate so that I'm not financially strapped for the rest of the month. UGH! Does anyone with BCBS Fed-Basic remember how much their co-pay was? Thanks for your help!

Awesome!!! Most of my weight is in my mid-section as well. I was afraid that I'd have to get a tummy tuck or something after it's all over with. When are you allowed to start exercising? My surgery is set for next Tuesday and I can't wait to see the scale move in the opposite direction!!!!! -
