  1. It takes about 1 week for the total tightness in your band to show up, after you have a fill. Had my 5th fill this past Tues. (Oct. 21, 2008) & am now at 7.5cc in a 14cc band. I definitely can tell I am much tighter at this point. I find Spaghetti-Os hard to get down. Can't eat donuts anymore (too elastic, within 1.5 bites I am stopped up). Finally, pretzels are hell (after just a very few, they all gob together). Hoping I am where I will be able to measure out 1 cup total of food at a meal and take a while to get that down (chewing and chewing and chewing, like the staff at the center told me it would be like).

  4. Got my 4th fill yesterday & am now at 6.5 with the 14 band. I can already tell I do not have enough restriction. Will give it a couple weeks, then schedule my 5th fill.
  5. Was banded at Christus Southeast Texas Bariatric Center (affiliated with St. Elizabeth Hospital), Beaumont, TX, on May 20, 2008. No fill was placed in my APL 14 band at that time. Was able to eat anything & everything with basically no restriction (however, was not able to re-eat within a short period of time, like pre-band). Just got my 1st fill on Tues., July 1, 2008: 3 cc. Can already tell that's not going to be enough. Per my surgeon, Dr. Kevin Dean, will give it a couple of weeks, then call if I need a 2nd fill. I can already tell I'll be calling. This is what the band is for -- to restrict eating. I am counting on working my band, and no doubt I'll need at least 3 fills before I get to a sweet spot. Good luck to all my fellow bandsters, especially those from Christus SE TX. Work the band!
