this is exactly why I had bariatric surgery. My top weight...377. My top height...5'2. Bad huh?. But did I stay on my diet, no. It wasn't until my doc told me I had pulmonary hypertension, and if I didn't do something, I would need a heart transplant in 5 years. That I heard. You see, I'm 60 years old and am raising my 8 year old grandson. My husband and I have legal custody and that kid needs me to guide him and nurture him to manhood. And there is no way I am having a heart transplant. Started my journey last August when I attended the introductory group. Finally had surgery April 20, and at last weigh in I had lost 61 pounds. The scale hasn't budged for 2 weeks now, but I am not discouraged. I can walk twice as long without having to stop to catch my breath. I actually worked in the garden today. I hope I will see my grandson graduate high school and college. That will make all this worth it.

Had VSG on 4/20 and have already lost 20 pounds. Problem is I'm hungry and want to eat real food. Protein shakes are a little more tolearable, and have progressed to soft cheese and yogurt. But I'm wanting something more substantial. Am worried I will not be able to sustain this stage of pureed and soft foods a full 6 weeks more. Anyone else had that problem?

Please try not to be so discouraged. Keep doing the best you can. Keep a log of your intake and exercise. Call your nut and see if she can review your intake and suggest some changes. If your are taking in fewer calories than you use, you will lose the weight. Are you in a support group. I go to a monthly group and find it very helpful. Started there before surgery. Everyone is very encouraging, but everyone has their own set of problems. I'm 3 weeks out now, the scale hasn't moved since the first week. But my clothes fit looser and my stamina is improving. Try to find the little things that encourage you. I have 200 pounds more to go and I'm sure I will have my moments as well. Keep your chin up. Or in my case, chins.

I am drinking a lot of water. I can have cream of wheat, but haven't tried it yet. Dit told me not to use beans for a couple more days. After that, can I use other beans as well? Next week I hope to add egg and mayby some chicken.
