Congrats Hope! Another Sister!!!! No - I'm not having to do a pre-op diet - lucky aparently! LOL Beba - my process has been VERY fast. I've been thinking about this for years. I just decided a couple of weeks ago to get it done. I already had a doctor that I had a consult with a few years back - and i knew I wanted to use him. Because I'm self paying - I haven't had to go through what so many are going through. My husband and I met with my doctor on Tuesday - this morning I had my blood work done - then I was called and they set up my scope and stress test for Friday the 11th - once that was done, they were ready to book the surgery - and the 23rd was open! So it's been very fast. I imagine if I were using my insurance it would be like so many others and take longer - so I'm counting my blessings that I was able to secure good financing and take care of this on my own

Denton Regional in Denton, Texas - just north of Dallas

Yeah - same here - one night, which is good - I hate being in the hospital! Where are you having your surgery?

It STILL doesn't seem real - I know once I go in for the tube down the throat and the stress test - it will feel much more real - I think! LOL How about you?

My Husband's Answer
Tibbie replied to Finding Myself's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Isn't it silly the things people say? I think it's because they don't know WHAT to say. When I was 40, my husband passed away. We had 15 amazing years together. We were both very career driven, and neither of us ever wanted children (still don't! LOL) - so we never had any. When he passed, I actually had people ask me "Aren't you sad now that you and Randy never had children? You would have them in this time of need!". OMG...really? Seriously? If there was ANYTIME in my life that I was more at peace with my decision it was when he passed away! I could hardly contain my own grief, I can't IMAGINE having to deal with my childs grief too! People just say stupid things. So I'm all for the smart a$$ comments! Bring em' on! -
I'm pre-surgery. The only people I have told is my husband (naturally), my best friend (because she will be visiting me right after my surgery) and the President of my company and my Co-VP (only because it's only right that he knows what is going on with me ) I'm a very private person. It's not that I am embarrassed by the surgery. My gosh, I've been overweight for the past 20 years - but I don't care to discuss any surgery I may or may not have - or doctor visits, etc. Probably because of my position in the company - I play my cards very close to my chest. It's just the smart thing for me to do. I haven't told my parents only because they are both in their 80's and my mother will worry herself into a dither! LOL Better she not know about it!!!

Hi - I'm a newbie - today was my second doctor visit - tomorrow I go in for my blood work and next week the scope and stress test - then set a date for surgery. I've been lurking for a while - and very encouraged by all of your stories. I'm still a little scared. Not really afraid of the surgery as much as afraid of failing if that makes sense... Thanks - and good luck to all of you headed to surgery this week!
