Good luck to everyone on deck for tomorrow. By this time tomorrow night you will be in bandland. We have all started scooting over to make room on the losers bench for you. You will all be in our thoughts and prayers. Lynnette-Great to see you are up and running again. I love reading your posts. Started to feel hungry tonight. DH made Brat patties for supper (one of my favorites!!) and I sat at the table and visited with the family while they ate. I done fine though. I got a boost breeze out and drank that while they ate. It was kinda nice to set with the family again. Feels like it has been forever since we have all been at the table. That has always been a big thing in our house and when I started the 2 week liquids before surgery I only sat with them a couple of times. Kinda funny because it wasn't the food that I was missing with them it was just being with them at meal time. :cry

Cate54 I was told that I wasn't to have any Ibuprofen or NSAIDS after lapband. My doc told me they are hard on the stomach and the band. Every doctor is different though. Good luck

Hi all. Just wanted to stop in and say hi and hope everyone is doing great. I just finished catching up on all the posts. My computer was running really slow yesterday taking forever to load a page so I just quit and came back today. Today is day 3 with the band. I am feeling fine doing great. Finally got to take my shower. Thank goodness I felt like a grease monkey!! LOL It was the best shower I have ever taken. Still find that I tire out easily but that is to be expected. I am thoroughly enjoying my time off of work. I am doing nothing but walking, sleeping and drinking fluids. The fluids are going down very well. No problem there. I feel great and have to say this has been a very postive experience for me. The surgery went extremely well with no pain after wards. I am fortunate because I have noticed many have problems with the gas. I hope that passes for all of you soon. Hope everyone is doing great and welcome to bandland. Lynnette hope you get your computer going soon. I miss reading your posts. Auntie Phyl you sound like you are doing bettter. That is great Dini take care of your little precious gem. She is a doll. Everyone else I am thinking of you and praying for you all. Take care

Hello everyone. Just wanted to wish everyone on deck tomorrow good luck. I am now 2 days post op and feeling great. Still have no pain. Had an alergic reaction to something they used during surgery last night when I got home and had to go to the ER to be checked out because I had a very slight fever (99.4) and a red rash on my face and upper chest. The doctor gave me a steroid creme and sent me on my way. Called my band doctors office today to ensure this was ok to use and they told me yes. They also told me not to worry about a fever unless is gets to be 101 or 102. I have had no pains yet and the bowels started moving again yesterday so everything seems to be getting back to normal already. WHEWWWWW!! I went to town today with DH to the store but had to take a nap :bored when I got home. The trip really tuckered me out. My stomach keeps making these really loud grumbling rumbling noises today. I have read several times on here that others have had the same thing so it must be normal. I can't believe how good this whole thing has gone for me this far. I did gain though. I have lost 2 lbs of what I gained back today though :whoo:. They told me that was just from all the fluids they pumped into me at the hospital. I was able to get all 3 of my Boost Breeze in today so I at least got my proteins in. I am sipping on some diluted apple juice now and have had 32 oz of water so I am doing well with the fluids. I hope everyone else is doing great. We are almost here now. Congratulations everyone!!!!!

Hi everyone. I just got home about 2 hours ago. Surgery was awsome. No complications. They found a hernia under my stomach though that we knew nothing about so the doctor had to take an hour to fix that before placing the band. I have had absolutely NO pain. I can't believe it and neither could the nurses. I have taken nothing since surgery. The anestegiologist (sp?) gave me a shot of morphine in my spine before surgery and he said that helps alot with post surgery pain in the back. I am amazed because I had no pain ANYWHERE!!! I am so happy about having the band. I asked 2 different nurses if they were sure that he was able to place the band after the hernia repair because I have no pain. They laughed and said yes you have a band. They told me when I went down this morning to do my barium swallow they would make sure that I get to see my band. Sure enough there it was. I watched the barium go through. That was pretty cool. I would have been home earlier today but my pulse kept going low and they wanted to see if they could get it up and keep it up. They told me normal resting rate is between 60-80 but mine setting still not moving was 41. Then went I went walking for 20 laps and returned they took it again and it was at 64. I have a pulse/blood pressure wrist thing here at home and they told me to just keep an eye on it. I have been taking it and it is running about 55-58. They talked with my doctor about it and he said it could be due to the meds during surgery and the fact that all I have done today was sleep. I would sleep, wake up and go walk a few laps to try to ward off any gas pains and then get back in bed and doze off again. My left shoulder did get an annoying little ache (nothing to bad) so I put a heating pad on it and about 10 minutes later it was gone. Now I am just itchy and that is from the morphine shot in the back. They said alot of people get that side effect. Anyway, I just had to post to let you all know how everything went. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!!!!!! :whoo::whoo::whoo: Catch you all later!! Jackie

Well tomorrow is the day.:faint: I am so excited!!! I am worried about the gas pain but I guess a few days of discomfort for a lifetime of health is well worth the trade. I want to that everyone for your well wishes and prayers. I will have to stay in the hospital overnight but if I am feeling up to it I will post again on Tuesday when I get home. I plan to sleep in the recliner and my daughter told me tonight she will get her laptop all set up for me when I come her bless her soul. She has been very mothering these past two weeks with the liquid diet so I am sure she will be a wonderful nurse afterwards. HAHA. I also want to wish all my fellow band day friends good luck and I will be praying for you. I won't be able to post tomrrow night either so I am wishing all of the people scheduled on July 24 good luck also. WE ARE ALMOST BANDSTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:whoo::whoo::whoo:

My surgery is Monday at 2pm. I have to be at the hospital at 11am so they can type and cross my blood. Can't wait to get this over with and be on the other side.

I had to drink a 10oz bottle of Mag citrate (mixed with a little bit of 7 up to ward off some of that twangy taste) 2 days before surgery. Does anyone else have/had to do this? Not to be blunt but I have had nothing going in for 2 weeks but liquids and so needless to say that is all that has been coming out for the last 2 weeks. I don't know why we need to do this too. I wonder if it is just in case we cheated to remove anything that might be lingering?? Who knows? At any rate it is drank so I am 1 more step to being there. Have 2 different antibiotics I have to take tomorrow 3 times in preparation for surgery. After those are down I am ready for the hospital Monday. Anyone else have to do all this?
-
I go in on Monday also. Just drank the bowel prep. YUCK!!! That stuff tastes gross!! I am starting to get a little nervous. Laying in bed last night I started to think of Monday and really got myself into a tither. COuldn't sleep for quite a while. It is all finally starting to set in that this is really going to happen. 2 more days!!!!:faint:

Can you tell me where you got the lap band cook book? I have been looking for one also. I will be banded on July 23 and would really like a cook book. Thanks

Hi everyone. Just had to come and post!! I just went to the doctor for my pre op physical and he cleared me for surgery Monday. That cold thing is about gone and he says he seen no drainage in the back of my throat and my sinuses look great. Chest and everything was clear. He did tell me though that I am a little dehydrated. I thought a minute and then told him I was still taking my diuretic and he said stop because that could be what is causing it and to make sure I am drink LOTS of water and fluids. I told him my tongue has been feeling really thick and he said that would be from dehydration and my temp (he said not really a temp) was 100 but that could also be attributed to being dehydrated. Came home and I have been drinking lots and lots of water to rehydrate. I am soooooo happy that I am still on for Monday. :whoo::whoo::whoo: I am still gonna be a Lucky # 7!!!

Thanks Nicole I think I got it figured out. It wasn't as 'complicated' as I thought. HAHA

I also bought some clothes for when I am smaller already. Gives me a goal. Chimboree we are soooooo close now!!! I can't wait. To everyone else I didn't forget you. I want to say hi to all and hope everyone is doing fine. We are getting closer to all of the Lucky 7's being banded. WOOO HOO

Hi all. Just thought I would tell you all that I am feeling better tonight. I got ahold of my doctors office this am and asked them to change the antibiotic because ZPAC just doesn't seem to really cut it for me much. They changed it to Levoquin and WOW does that stuff kick in. Nose is drying up and I think I just might still be able to have surgery on Monday!! YAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY!! I was supposed to go tomorrow for my pre op physical but I asked to be switched with my daughter because she has an appointment on Friday and mine was tomorrow. That way I figured I would have 4 days of the meds and that much better. I want to wish everyone good luck tomorrow with their banding. I will be thinking of you and envying you all day. Lynnette your recipe does sound good. I am going to try it as soon as I can. I have made it a goal that my family will be eating very healthy also because that is how I will be cooking or making meals. What is good for me has to be good for them. Thanks everyone for your replies and support. It is wonderful to have such a great group of people to lean on. I love lap band talk!!!!

Lynnette congrats on the weight loss. WOW YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY!!!!! You are doing awsome!!

Ok...so I am starting on this wagon AGAIN!! I have done 2 supervised diets in the past with my doc but they were over 2 years ago so the surgeons office suggested restarting one with my doc. They told me that insurances usually make us do this to 'prove' that we are capable and commited to change. I understand all of that....I really do....my problem is...I just can not get motivated. I feel like I have been down this road so many times in my past and even if I loss the weight I have regained it and then some. There is a reason I am where I am now and asking them to cover surgery. I done my first visit last week and honestly I have been trying but then I think this one won't hurt me....YEAH RIGHT!!!! I need LOTS of words of encouragment and someone please give me a great diet plan that maybe they followed. Any suggestions? I HAVE to do this. I have to prove to myself I can. It is sooooo hard!!!!!!:angry

Hello everyone. Just wanted to give you all an update and wish everyone up for banding tomorrow good luck and hope to have a speedy recovery. I got a hold of the docs office today. They told me that they called it in Saturday to the pharmacy. I WAS MAD!!! It would have been nice if someone would have let me know so I could have started the antibiotic Saturday instead of Monday when the symptoms were worse. Anyway, went and picked it up the am as soon as they opened and took the first days right away. I have done about everything that I can with hopes this will be gone by next Monday morning. I am positive it is sinus infection. I went and bought a nasal labauge (sp?) and done that 2 times today and that really did seem to help. I can at least breath through my nose again. I am hoping when I go for my pre op physical with my PCP this week it will be gone. Wish me luck.

Need Name of Non-flavored Protein powder please
jackie506 replied to Chele's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Beneprotein can be added to food and has no flavor. That is what my doctor recommends. Good luck -
Thanks Dini and Lynnette. I am going to try getting into the doc right away tomorrow morning. I am soooo angry with his PA for not calling back. This is not the first time she has done that. Several times in the past as a matter of fact. I am taking tylenol cold. I haven't had a fever at all. I called yesterday because when I first woke up I had a stuffy nose and I wanted to get a head of it before I got to where I am now. I will have to remember to thank her when I go in. Good night everyone. I will let you all know what I find out tomorrow.

I think I am coming down with a cold and I am scheduled for surgery on July 23rd. I am not congetsted in the chest but my nose keep running on the left hand side and I am blowing my nose alot. I tried to call my doctor's office yesterday but he was on vacatin and his PA never called me back. I am already on clear liquids and have 1 week down. Anybody have any advise as to how to ward off this cold before it comes on full force? I am hoping that it is just alregies.

I had to tell you all about the dream I had last night. First off, for those who didnt get a chance to read my previous thread, I started my clear liquid 2 week pre op diet last Monday. Everything has been fine and I haven't really 'craved' anything or struggled. I have been satisfied with what I am taking in. Ok, so last night I was dreaming that my husband and I went to this pizza place to order out pizza to bring home. This place has pizza, chicken, chinese, fudge and ice cream. Anyway, they had this what they called bear claw pizza that had 28 slices of pizza in it. HUGE PIZZA!!! DH told me we should just order one of those. He went to look at something else and I ordered one of those plus 3 other large pizza's, an order of family size chicken, some general chicken and fudge. The stuff comes and my bill is $189.00. :hungry: After I pay for this I start eating bits of everything. As I am dreaming this I kept thinking (while sleeping) 'You are on clear liquids stop eating or you won't be able to have surgery. :omg: My God look how much I am eating.' and I was totaly freaking out. LOL Is that crazy or what?!?! I just had to tell everyone about it because I thought it was hilarious. On the flip though I am doing fine with the liquids. I haven't eaten..........just dreamt about it. HAHA

Xgrl I found out that I have sleep apnea and high cholesterol. My BMI was 46 when we submitted to the insurance and we only knew about the sleep apnea not the high cholesterol. Dr Glascocks office submitted to insurance and I got the decision 3 days later. Do you have any co morbidities? I was told that bcbs is the easiest one to get this covered by. Good luck!!! Anymore questions just ask.
