I TOTALLY agree that we have an EXCELLENT support system with each other on the lucky # 7's. I have to admit that I haven't even looked at another thread on lapbandtalk since right before surgery. I was getting freaked out by some of the 'horror' stories before surgery so I had decided I wouldn't look at other threads b-4 and then I just never went back. I know there is alot of great info out there but honestly I get worried when I read some of those posts and we do have a great system right here in our own yard so for right now I don't feel like I need to look over he fence. LOL :car: to all!!!!!!!! Hope everyone is doing great tonight. I'll try to check back in later!!

dini- hey babes!!! Your weight loss is amazing!! Your doing wonderful. Can't wait to see the numbers that you are seeing. Congrats to you!! You are definately inspiring all of us. I am doing good. I just got back from my 3 mile walk, IN THE RAIN!!!!!!! UUUGGHHHH!! My own damn fault though. I was too damn lazy to go to the gym today when I was in town. I told my friend 'oh I will just walk tonight outside at home' and then I piddled around with her in town. I knew it was supposed to rain so it is my own fault. Oh well I had an umbrella so it wasn't all that bad. LOL:D

Just had to pop in to tell you all that I have had 2 fills (1 per week the last 2 weeks!!) and for the first few days I had restriction and then after the first one, nothing!! The second one has really lossened up and I have SOME restriction but not nearly enough. I could eat and eat and eat it would just take me some time. I called the Dr. today and they have set up my appointment for this Thursday for my 3rd fill. I hope this one does the trick because I am hungry 2 hours after I eat! Sounds like everyone is doing great with the weight loss. Dini-way to go girl!! Chim- I am definately not looking forward to pb'ing!! Scares the begeebas outta me!!! lynette- so sorry to hear about the $$. That really sucks to get you all excited about the refund and then to tell you oh no we let the insurance know. UUUGGGHHHH Money well spent though girl. Everyone else I miss talking to all of you and want to congratulate EVERYONE on their successes. I am going to try spending some time on here this weekend catching up on everthing. Be prepared because you all know how my posts go on and on when I start posting. LOL Take care!!!!!!

Ok I am thoroughly confused now. I did not get a card but will be asking for one at my next appointment. At my fill I was told that I have the VG (vanguard) band. I was worried that I would 'run out' of room for fills before I was at my goal and she told me that wouldn't happen. She said your first and second fills are usually more and then it is just 'tweeking it' after that. Ok so my question is this I have the VG 10 CM (I thought that it was cc's but she informed me it is CM). My first fill was 4.6 and my second fill was 2.4 so I have a total of 7 CC right? How many CC does this band hold? Has anyone else every heard of running out of band to fill? I too like others I have read was told that many doctors use the VG band over the other bands because they seem to have better success with them. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

indio- funny that you talked about a tv show for us. Just last night I told me husband that I think we should try to come up with a show somewhat like biggest loser for bandster. The difference would be though no one would be voted out!!! Just trying to get things done before it gets really brisk outside. It was 54 degrees here today but it was bearable outside. I like to be outside working when it is like that. Through some sweats on with a sweat shirt and away we go. LOl Thanks for the compliment!!

dmtjet- your on an ice cream kick? Have you tried those weight watchers ones? I just love them. They are just little cups but they are satisfying. They come in 3 or 4 flavors. Also had my second fill on Thursday and was told to make sure that I am eating more solid foods instead of just mushie food. I have been somewhat afraid to eat to many different things so if I find something that goes down well I eat that for about 2-3 sometimes 4 days in a row. LOL I have not and will not even attempt bread. Scares the begeebas out of me. LOL Haven't tried any meat except for turkey breast, chicken breast, very small diced ham in a soup. The chicken and turkey breast come from a can so they are nice and tender and diced. I actually really like it. I chew chew chew chew and chew some more!!! Brandy-YOU ARE DOING MAGNIFICENT!!!! Keep up the great work! We all seem to be doing really well. Brandy- I read some place else that sometimes it takes a few days even maybe a week to get the effect of a fill. I noticed mine immediately. The first one was good for about 3 days and then after that I had to call because the only reason I wasn't eating half the house was because I was holding myself back with will power (and yes I know the band would not have left me go on half the house but maybe a door knob or 2 with a chunk of carpet.LOL) ssankof73- I got my second fill a week after my first. I felt restriction for a few days after the first fill (4.6cc on Sept 5) but then I was able to eat about anything and I just kept wanting to eat. Hunger not head hunger. I went back 8 days later and they put in another 2.4cc. That was this Thursday and I do have some good restriction right now. My doc says if I am able to eat more than 1/4-1/2 cup at a time to call and schedule a fill. Then I asked how many calories she wants me to eat a day and she tells me 1200. YEAH RIGHT!!! LOL Maybe in the future but there is no way in hell I would be able to get in 1200 calories a day. I am doing really good just getting in 500-600. For lunch today and had 1/4 cup of cheese soup (I wil be adding this recipe for all. It is magnificent!!) and then supper I was able to eat a weight watchers smart one. It had 210 calories and 18 grams of protein. I feel great though. She told me Thursday that I HAVE TOO get my calories up some though because my body is stalled on losing again and she thinks it is because of all the exercising and the low calories. She believes my body is reserving because it thinks I am trying to starve it. Who the hell would have ever thought!!!!!!!!!! I am getting told eat more exercise a little less. LOL That to me is hilarious!!! Hope everyone else that I haven't talked to in a long while is doing wonderful. I miss you all and can't what to hear all your nsv and scale victories!! I will be around all day tomorrow I think (if my daughter decides she doesn't want to go shopping). I cleaned the whole house top to bottom on the inside, went outside and pressure washed the outside of the house and windows, mowed my lawn (3.5 acres on a rider though so no major work out), cleaned the inside of my car, and done my laundry all up today so that tomorrow I will have NOTHING to do but set and relax. Then my daughter says mom I want to go shopping tomorrow because I have tomorrow off. I said ' Court I want to relax tomorrow because I have tomorrow off.' I told her I would go in the afternoon if she really watned to or maybe we could go next weekend and just spend the day together watching movies in our comfy clothes all day. LOL Hoping she goes for the latter. LOL Sorry such a long post. I just get on here after being gone for a while and I just don't know when to shut it off. Then I look up at the screen and I have half of a novel wrote. :faint:

lindaa- I never thought of that. Thanks for pointing that out. breadlady- thanks for that info. That is what my doctor and his PA said also. I go every 4 weeks for the first year unless a fill is needed in between and then I just call and make an appointment. I have had 2 fills in the last 2 weeks. I went in on the 5th for my first and the 13th for my second one. The PA's exact words were 'I will see you in 4 weeks unless you need a fill before then. If you are eating more than 1/2 cup at a time just call and we will get you right in for a fill. You have the tool to help lose weight so we might as well be making it work like it is supposed to.' I was also told that I didn't have to worry about 'running out' of room for a fill because that was a worry that I had too. I was worried that my band would be 'full' before I got to goal and then I would be 'done' no more help from my band and she reassured me yesterday that won't happen and I don't have to worry about it. After everything I have read and then talking to her about my fears yesterday I don't understand this whole thing with the sizes and the cc and centimeters. I just decided that I have the tool and I am going to make it work and not worry myself with all of the other. My first fill was 4.6cc and yesterday I got 2.4 totaling 7cc. I definately have restriction today. I am about to eat but only the 1/4- 1/2 cup like I am supposed too. ssankof73- good for you for always advocating for yourself. We know our bodies. You are right you have the tool so you should be able to use it. Congrats on the fill.

Thanks Bluebike. I am feeling lots better. Got my second fill today. I just went last Wednesday for the first one but had no restriction so I called this Monday and told them and she scheduled me for a 2nd one today. Went today and she added 2.4 in my band. I already had 4.6 so that is a total of 7. I told her of my fears of filling my band all the way up and having no more room for adjustments if I needed them. She told me not to worry about that because there is no way that will happen. I thought the size 10 band meant 10cc but she says it means 10 CM whatever the heck all that means. I decided today I am not going to try to figure out the sizing and all of that of these bands I am just going to work it like I am supposed to and fil er up when I need to, just like my car. LOL I do have to say I definately have restriction tonight though. I drank a little to fast earlier and took to big of drinks and I could feel it right at the back of my throat waiting to go down. I am to see the PA every 4 weeks from my fill so today when I was leaving I said I will see you in 4 weeks and she said 'if you feel like you are able to eat more than a 1/4- 1/2 cup of food at a time and need a fill call before the 4 weeks and we will get you in. WOOHOO!! They are very careful with the fills but also agressive. Like she said today, 'YOU HAVE TO TOOL WE MIGHT AS WELL MAKE IT WORK LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO.' Oh yeah the most important part........................1 LOST 3 POUNDS FROM LAST WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:whoo::whoo: Hope everyone is doing great and enjoying life as a bandster!!!

Auntie Phyl- how did the fill go. I just got my last fill last Wednesday and the first day and a half I felt like I had restriction and after that hell I was hungry and could eat well over my 1/2 cup so this morning I called my doctors PA. Last Wednesday when she did the fill she told me that if I find that I am eating more than a 1/2 cup after 2 weeks to give her a call and we would 'tweek' it but otherwise I wasn't to see her for a month. Well this morning I called and told them I can eat whatever and I don't feel like I have any restriction. The nurse talked to the PA and called me back. I am going back in this Thursday for a second fill. I have the 10cc band and they put 4.6cc in last week. Now I am all freaked out thining I am going to get to my max and then what? When we lose weight our bands losen around our stomach so what happens if they get to 10 and have no more room to fill? Do we just stop losing? Now I wish he would have put the smaller band in. The PA told me that alot of doctors just use the 10cc band and not to ever worry about not having enough room for restriction (this was last week when I thought I would have restriction with the fill) and now I am all worried. I am going to talk to her about my worries on Thursday. HO HUM :cry I was really second guessing myself to go to the Y today. I kept thinking 'one day won't hurt' and then after a while I got mad at myself because that is exactly what got me where I am at and I got up off my butt and went. Wasn't happy about going but at least I made myself. Just feeling really blue today. The weather is crappy and dreery outside and I am tired and just feeling weepy. :think Sorry for being such a complainer tonight.

Marcy- oo la la what a romantic hubby!! I would kill for mine to do something like that. Dont get me wrong he is the most loving, adoring DH but he wants me to 'tell him' what I want. He would never surprise me by just doing it. Gosh for Christmas and my birthday he goes to my duaghter who is 16 and asks her what she thinks mom would like. LOL My Motivation..........easy......my kids. My kids lost their dad 4 years ago to diabetis at the age of 35. He had had it since he was a juvenile and about 2 years before he passed it had really spun out of control. He had had several debrieing (sp?) surgeries on foot ulcers, lost 2 toes, then had a below the knee ambutation and suffered a small stroke. Then he because very sick from absesses on the spleen that Mayo told us was not uncommon among diabtics who used needles on a regular basis for injeting insulin. Anyway he passed away. At one point before he had gotten sick I had weighed 226 pounds. I had gone on a diet and exercised, ate healthy and etc and got down to 155pounds. I felt great. When he got sick I started to take less and less care of myself and let myself go. When he passed I was back at 189. Afterwards I was in a major depression and so worried about the kids that I let myself go to the point of 275 pounds 4 years later. One day my kids and I were going to town and my daughter started to talk about her wedding day, graduation, having babies and etc. My son chimed in and was talking about the same. I then thought to myself 'I am in no way healthy. My weight and family history could kill me at anytime.' I then decided I really wanted to do weight loss surgery but the by pass scared the hell out of me. I had heard of the lap band but didn't know much about it. So I started to research it very vigorously. Went to a seminar in April and talked with my family doc in april and confirmed that my insurance would pay if I met criteria. May 2, we went to my daughters best friends 16th birthday party (she is 4 months older than my daughter). They had a DJ and the first song was dedicated to the birthday girl and her dad. Courtney (my daughter) turned and said I will never have that. I won't even have that at my wedding. I cried. I told her you won't have you dad honey but you will have me. THat is the day that I knew for definate no matter what I would have this surgery. I didn't care how it had to be paid for I was going to be here for those kids. That is my motivation. They are getting older and graduations are getting closer and by the time she graduates I am going to be at a healthy weight and be here for many years with them. She also suffers from weight issues but since the surgery I cook only healthy foods in the house. She has talked to our family doctor about the band and he is doing the monthly weigh ins with her now so that if that is what she decides when she is 18 she will have all needed documentation to do so. We are staying ahead of things. Like I told her if she loses it on her own over the next 2 years that is great but if not the decision will be hers when she is 18 and she will have everything she needs to be able to do it. Sorry for such a long post. I get so winded when I talk about these things.
-
Frustrated- you said it beautifully. You are an inspiration to all of us as well. We all need each other here and depend on one another. I hate when I can not get here daily but as soon as I can I set and read everyone's post because I ower that to them. You all listen and comment on things that I have to say or am feeling so I owe that to all of you as well. Thank you so much for the beautiful post you made!!!
-
Indio-Thanks so much for the encouragement. I am just trying to stay focuses!!! I started at 20 minutes on the treadmill at 2.4 and let me tell you I was winded. It feels great to be walking at an incline of 4-5 and 3.4. I even boosted it to 3.6 the other day but was only able to do that stride for 3 miutes!! WWHHEEEWWWWWW that was work. LOL Auntie Phyl- I am so sorry they keep delaying your fill. Can you look for a different fill doctor or is your surgery an 'all in one price' deal. How the heck can they expect you to keep waiting. Damn you got this surgery for a reason!!! Can Steve and give him hell. I understand the fluro thing though. I am really glad my doc does it that way. I feel alot safer for me. They did tell me that they would not do a fill without fluro though because of the possibility of 'sticking the needle through the band'. I know other doctors do fills without fluro though and things are fine. For me though I am glad mine are done that way. Also I was told it is easier to get to the sweet spot this way. I wish you success in getting your fill sooner. Keep us posted!!! Kathy- congrats on the hubby getting full time!! Will that affect the trip you two are taking to Palm Springs? Marcy- Happy 10th Anniversary!!

Thanks for the words of encouragement FRUSTRATED!!!

Ok I finally caught up with the posts. I am so sorry I have been MIA for well over a week and a 1/2. I am not sure exactly how long it was but lapbandtalk sent me an email telling me that they missed me being on lapband talk and hoped that I would come back and visit sometime. That was a little weird. I have been really busy with work, the kids going back to school and etc. Just life in general I should say. Well I had my first fill today. It went great. There was nothing to it. My doc's PA does them under fluro. I got to watch the barium going through the band and then watched it slow down as she was filling and I was drinking. That was cool. I have the VG band. I don't really know the difference. She told me that alot of doctors prefer this band and my doc uses this one the majority of the time. She also told me that it just means that they can get more fluid into it but not to worry that I will 'run out' and not be able to get more restriction if needed. I don't get that but ok. She put 4.6cc in the band today and told me to schedule an appointment for 1 month and if I find that I am eating more than 1/4-1/2 cup food after 2 weeks call and set up an appointment to get into see her for a fill before my 4 week appointment. She said their thinking is you have the tool so use it. Everything looked great and as it should so I have officially healed. I can definately tell I have some restriction tonight. I am supposed to be on liquids for 2 days but drank some diluted tomato juice tonight and I drank to much. I measured out 1/2 cup. I started to feel satisfied but the old habit of "there isn't that much left I might as well finish it" kicked in. I didn't pb or slime or anything and no fireball from hell coming up out of the asophagus (sp?) but I just feel BLAH like you do when you have eaten too much. I have been keeping up with my exercising. I have boosted a little. I walk the treadmill at 3.4 with an incline of 4 for 60 minutes and then ride the stair master exercise bike for 30 minutes. After this then I do the nautilus to help tone. I am burning about 550-600 calories on the treadmill and the bike daily. The only day that I skip is Sunday and that is because the Y is closed on Sundays until Oct. Sundays I just go for a 3 1/2 mile walk outside. I am really dedicated to sticking to this exercising thing!! How is everyone else doing? From your posts looks like we are all moving right along. Can't wait to see what we are at by Christmas!!!! I have set a mini goal of being down to 210 by Halloween. I know that doesn't sound to low to many but for me that is good. I started at 275 at the end of May and I am now at 233. Well hope everyone is well and I will try to check in more often. Things are starting to slow down now that we are getting back into the groove o school schedules and such. Good nite all and I have missed each and everyone of you!!!! Congrats on all the weight loss. We should figure out how much as a total group we have lost. That would be fun!!!

PHYL- I HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN AT BONANZA. THEY TOLD ME THEY DON'T RECOGNIZE THOSE CARDS WE GET ANYMORE AND THEN CHARGED ME FULL PRICE FOR A SMALL DISH OF COTTAGE CHESSE!!!! PHYL-SO SORRY ABOUT THE DELAYED FILL. I CAN'T IMAGINE THE DISAPPOINTMENT YOU ARE FEELING. YOU HAD EVERY RIGHT TO CRY. YOUR HUBBY PROB JUST DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THE DEGREE OF THE DISAPPOINTMENT BECAUSE HE IS NOT PERSONALLY PHYSICALLY DEALING WITH THE BAND. HANG IN THERE!!

:clap2::clap2::clap2::whoo:RIBEARTY TOOT YOUR HORN, BLOW YOUR WHISTLE AND WHAT EVER ELSE YOU WANT TO DO YOU HAVE DEFINATELY EARNED THE RIGHT. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!:clap2::clap2::whoo::bounce::bounce::biggrin1:

Lynette617;555079]TMI coming up, but I've had the worst case of constipation the last day and a half. Never had to use anything in that area, ever, but imodium to stop things up so this was all new to me. Wonder if the fill had anything to do with it cause I had to go on liquids for 2 days after, don't know, but it was bad. Had to send my DH out twice for two different things to try. Finally I have relief today, but I hurt so bad I was crying. Hope to never feel this again, so I need to know what others do to prevent this. Do you take something daily? I've always been a regular person, so maybe I just need to take something around fill time? Oh well, any info would be appreciated!! Lynette- I had the same problem and my doc had told me in advance to use Benefiber. It is the best thing for this. Let me tell you it works!!!! Gives releaf rather quickly too. You can mix it into anything you are drinking or food. I put it into my ice water and there is absolutely no flavor or color. It doesn't clump up either. Mixes in so well you would never know there was anything in what ever you put it in. It is awsome if you need it!!! Give it a try!!
-
auntie phyl- I went through the same thing a couple of weeks ago. I gained bac k4 lbs and just couldn't get them off no matter what I did. Finally I got up one morning and they were gone on the scale. only4me- My surgeon's office gave it to me. They actually gave me 2 just in case I loose one and told me if I ever loose both that all I have to do is ca;; and they will get me another.
-
Marcy- YOUR HILARIOUS!!! Your right your clothes are BAGGY!!!! Doesn't it feel great?!?!?! Congrats on the weight loss. Funny pic with the chicken. WHEWWW I am sorry I just couldn't do it. LOL Your sqash and the little one are both beautiful. Tenille- I tried to use my card one time and that was at Bonanza. They told me they don't honor those cards and I had to pay full price!!! On most occassions I would have been fine with that but this time in perticular I REALLY WASN'T HUNGRY!!!! I was just going in because my family was hungry and I thought that I would eat a little of cottage cheese because it was dinner time. What a crock huh?
-
ssankofa73- I just seen my doc today and we talked about the 30 before and 45 minutes after meals. The PA told me that the 30 before is really not as important as making sure that I wait at least 45 minutes after and if I am able 1 hour. Everyone's doctors orders are so different. NewCC- I have the same problem with the night time. I am hungry. I am not hungry all day and MAKE myself eat and then night time comes and I can't get enough. Hopefully the fill I got today will help with that. only4me- I do the same thing. I can't stand it if I mix it the way the packages say to. It is just to strong for me. I like my water with a 'hint' of crystal light pink lemonaid.

Hello my fellow bandsters. It is Sunday night about 11:30pm here. I am bushed but wanted to get on for a ew minutes and check in. I see everyone seems to be doing so well. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Auntie Phil- Sounds like you are staying busy with the grandkids. The game sounded likes lots of fun!! That was a perk huh? Lynette- doesn't it feel great when the pants start getting lose? Congrats!! Dini- I am sorry I missed your post before you left. Hope you have a wonderful time Kathybad- your family is beautiful. You are so blessed. Congrats on the court date!!!!! Dmjet- how is school going? My kids started last Wednesday and I am loving it. Everyone else congrats on all your progress!!! Well we had the 16th birthday party yesterday. I was so tired today that I did next to nothing. Folded a load of laundry and put it away and everyone ate leftovers. The party was a great success and my daughter had a wonderful time. Couldn't have asked for a better day. It was 74 degree's with slight humidity but it wasnt uncomfortable. REALLY NICE. My aunt and uncle came on their motorcycle that they just bought a trike package to put on the back. I got daring and asked them if I could drive it joking. They said 'yeah try it out you will love it.' I thought about it and I thought 'why not (besides the fact I don't have a license...LOL) Asked my DH to ride behind me and he asked 'are you serious' I said 'yeah lets go' We got on and he told me how to shift. I said ok and we took off. LOL I did fine and it was sooooo easy. I said to everyone when I got back 'if you can drive a stick shift car you can drive a motorcycle. LOL I don't kow if you all remember back to another post that I had made talking about how I am so afraid to ride behind my DH the last couple of years because I was afraid my weight would make his bike 'bottom out' LOL. Yesterday was a major NSV for me because I just figured I was gonna try it because I have lost some weight and damn it I have seen bigger people than me riding!!!! DH came in the house this afternoon and asked me to go for a bike ride with him. I think I may have started something. LOL I am finally off of my platea this past week.:whoo: I have lost 6 lbs this past week :biggrin1:(knock on wood. I hope it keeps up). Hope I haven't jinxed myself by saying (typing) it out loud. Well I am off to bed. Have lots to do tomorrow before going to work. Good 'nite all!!!
-
Hi all. So sorry I haven't been posting lately. I get on here every night and read everyone's posts but haven't posted myself lately. I was afraid of jinxing myself. I had been on a platea for 2 weeks and it FINALLY broke this week. Since Monday I have lost the 6 pounds that I had gained and an additional 3 so I am now on the losing side again. Hope like hell I didn't jinx it now by getting so excited and sharing with everyone. LOL I have really been having a hard time getting my Proteins and calories in in a day. This past week I have just not been hungry but I am sure that is due to 'aunt flo'. My 'aunt flo' is a little wacko compared to others from what I have heard. She calls and annoys the hell out of me for 1 1/2-2 weeks before she actually gets to my place. I am soooooo hungry during that time and seem to always be on the 'hunt' for something to eat but about 3-4 days before she actually gets here and during her whole visit I don't hear from her and the hunger just goes away and I am not hungry AT ALL. See why I say she is wacko. She goes from one extreme to the other. LOL OK sorry if that was TMI Lynette- congrats on Hunters 2 eval. Don't fret over what they said at the first. Gosh how long had they known him before saying what he 'couldn't' do?! She sounds like a little social butterfly!!!! LOL Dini- hope you have fun in Italy. We will miss you. Miss reading your posts. auntie phyl- stop being auntie phil? You can't do that. You have become auntie Phil to all of us. LOL Sunny- I am SOOOOOOOO sorry for your loss. I had a yourky about 7 years ago that was stollen. I had had her for 4 years. I just couldn't sleep or eat. We put fliers all over town and drove around constantly looking for her. I cried so many tears for her and still miss her. I bought a Shitzu about 3 months after she was taken thinking that would help but honestly he just didn't fill that void. He was a wonderful dog but just not my Trixie. My kids dad had become so close to the dog so I let him have him and I waited 3 years before by the 2 yorkies I have now. I just love 'my girls' Couldn't imagine losing either of them so I totally sympathize with you. The picture I have in the corner is one of my girls (Mitzi) I have the M & M's. Mitzi and Mia. LOL Can you see why I am fat. I named both of my girls with the letter M being the first letter of their names because I love M & M's. LOL Chim- congrats on the loss. Your doing great!! Indiogirl- I know what you mean about obsessing about the calories when you eat out. I have found myself doing the same. At least we are keeping ourselves honest. Everyone else that I didn't mention, congrats on getting your fills and the weight loss. Everyone is doing fantastic!!!! We are a rockin group!!
-
ImFine-Congrats on the fill and having restriction right away. That is great. Your Italian dish sounds yummy. Would you mind sharing your recipe? Thanks
