Saweet someone from B-town!!! I'm getting my sleeve done at Beth Israel Hospital..I'm wicked excited I was going to do the band first but i did a ton of research plus the older we get the less likely it will be covered by insurance..so that's what made my decision..lots of folks forget when we get to our retiring age Medicare will not be covering fills..the sleeve is the best choice for me!! Wish you well!!

Did you eat what you wanted prior to surgery..i mean dis you have Soups and soft foods? I have lost 16 lb..that's what I was told to lose prior to surgery..I haven't done liquids I can't seem to do it my sugar gets to low..what did you do the day before?

Thanks so much for posting this...I am feeling the same way...I havent told my mom and I am dying inside to tell her..she'll worry sooo much and I just dont want her to..my sleeve is in 4 days!! and Im also getting the galbladder removed..what shall I do??? I dont want to lie to her, but I dont want her to worry..I havent told my sibiling...I feel like a fat liar...I have mixed feeling..what do you think..your advise was awesome but I think I need more...Please help!

I have not told anyone in my family...I feel horrible!!! The only person that knows about my surgery is my husband, my mother in law, and 2 other friends who are also getting the procedure done...I previously had mention having the lap band with my family members and the feed back I got was what I expected and I quote " WHY!!!...THATS TAKING THE EASY WAY OUT....WHY NOT JUST EXCERSICE AND EAT HEALTHY" Ultimately I figure it's my health and IM THE ONE THAT HAS TO DEAL WITH ALL MY MEDICAL ISSUES...although it would be GREAT to have family support the negativity is what is keeping me distant...So I totally understand what you are going through..people will talk either way good or bad..there will always have someone talking about you....I will have my galbladder remove as well and thats all anyone knows..I feel that sometimes people think they have the right to intrude in your personal buisness and feel offended if they find out later..too bad you could say I didnt feel comfortable telling you about my medical condition...this is something I will have to learn to say too...I wish you the best of Luck...My sleeve is May 22nd!!! So excited, nervous, anxious, SCARED!!! I love this community its' whats giving me the friends and support I need!!!

Omg!!! We are sleeve sisters..I'm getting sleeved on may 22nd..I am freaking out. I'm nervous,anxious,excited,scared !!! So much going through my head..my story is different I struggled with my weight just about my entire life..I'm diabetic as well and progressively getting worst..but I pray to God that all works out!!

This weekend has been full of emotions and "food MOURNING". I mean I feel like Im making sure to eat the meals I think I will no longer be able to eat!..Im doing the " last meal" thingamagy but to my suprise in moderation...I do look forward to my liquid diet (strange right).... This is what I call..my " Cleansing" before the surgery....Hope all goes great!!! got all my yummy liquids...Wish me well!! 15 DAYS TIL SURGERY!!!! MAY 22ND IS ALMOST HERE!!!

My new update! PRE-OP yesterday..blood work and review..SOOOO EXCITED 2 MORE WEEKS!!!!! YESSSSSS!!! HALLELUJAH!!! ....BUT!!!! can no longer be on the diet this week..they are taking me off of it and putting me on next week. Come to find out I have lost 16lb which is good enough for me to lose for the liver...SAWEET! but Im going to stick with the partial diet from morning to lunch ( carniation and soups) just so I can get the hang of things...My sugar was going out of wack...I hope this does NOT present a problem later...Oh Lord..please let every thing go well!!

OMG!!! CONGRATS!!! Really only 1 day...My Dr. said that I would stay there for 3 days..just to make sure all was fine....Did it hurt to get dressed and to use the bathroom ( number 1 and number 2)...sorry if this question is yucky...but it's good to know it all...20 days for me...please let me know how you feel..and do you have young ones at home..I have a toddler and Im not sure thats shes going to understand that I wont be able to lift her and play with her... Rest up and congrats!!

Yahooo...CONGRATS!!! I got approved by Blue Cross and Harvard Pilgrim...Im on my way...20 days to go!!! Such a huge relief!!

Leesakake and Boriqua00 Im taking 2 months off I have the Short term and FMLA therefore I figure I pay for this..I will take it for granted and use it..My Dr also state I will be fine within a matter of weeks but he asked me if I wanted it off he would approve it..I dont want to take any chances...everyone situation is difference but if it can be done then bravo!! I need to rest up and recooperat even if that means being about from my job for 2 months...oh I love it not being around my co-workers ( they can be obnoxious...but thats another story..hahaha) Good Luck to Both!! We are going to look and feel fabulous!!! Yahoo!!! Heres' to 19 days!!!

Sandra , you should tell your work so that it's fair to have them arrange coverage for you absents. You don't have to tell them what your surgery is for..you can tell them that you have a medical condition and that your physician is requiring x amount of weeks off for surgery. When you return you'll have a note from your physician stating your clearance with no restriction.. Keep it simple and professional and they will truly appreciate your honesty... My Sleeve is May 22nd and I'm taking 2 months off because my physician said so..I told my job 2 months in advance..now I'm just counting down..Good Luck!!

Sandrababy you should tell them that you have medical condition and you need surgery..your physician anticipate your absents for about x amount of weeks..the sooner they now the faster they are able to organize or have coverage for your absents

Awww my husband is going to do the same..his quote "if this is your biggest challenge Then I'm with you every step of the way" it's such a blessing to have amazing and supportive hubby!! We are Blessed!

Hello All, Im Trueme I will be having my Vertical Gastric Sleeve On May 22nd!!! So many things are going through my mind..( Im not sure if anyone has had the same..Im sure they have) I am a mother and a wife. I love and adore my family!! They mean the world to me!! I decided to have this surgery because as a 30 year old person. My health has been decreasing due to my diabetes and of course because of my life time weight issue. Im excited, SCARED, excited, overjoy, and did I mention EXCITED!! I know this will change my life...But Im scared that it will...I mean I know that sounds weird..Ive been a "big girl" my whole life and am "use to it". How will folks treat me...will they treat me different will I get use to it...what if I dont? Will my husband find me attractive even though Im no longer a big girl..will my daughter look at me different..will I get negative comments..******Do I have to tell people that Im getting this done? So much that's going through my head...I know Im excited to be HEALTHIER, hopefully and praying that I will no longer be on my diabetes meds...I know I made this decision so that I am able to LIVE longer to be here for my daughter, my husband and for myself.. HELP!! PLEASE GUIDE ME!!...Im still a VIRGIN TO THE VGS...Someone help me pop my cherry !!!
