  1. I'm 8 days post op. I haven't layed around since last Wednesday. I was told to move because of blood clots. That's a major concern after surgery. Plus I'm not into being sick. I go back to work on 5/7/12. I take it slow, now....because I want everything to heal. Today I'm getting a pedicure, hubby & me are going to SAMs, & I'm going to bible study tonight. I've got to make my life as normal as possible.
  2. Yeasterday I went for my post op exam. I'm down 18 lbs. I was last weighed by my surgeon on 3/16/12, no pre op liquid diet. I went on liquids the day before surgery. I don't know how much is water weight, how much of a hormonal fluctuation is in there or what. BUT I'M GOOD WITH 18 lbs.
  3. Sugar free pudding, creamy soups. And anything is better than jello, popsicles, and diet snapple. And you can have yogurt, slim fast shakes. I hear if you freeze them & let them thaw some, it's like a frosty. Plus it's a month...it will not be fun, but I didn't go through that surgery and gas pain and potassium torture just to come right home a eff everything up. When I go to the dr. on Tuesday, I want to be wowed when I get on the scale.
  4. I had a hiatal hernia repaired during surgery. Didn't even know I had a hernia.
  5. You will have pain. Eat the jello & diet snapple for 1 week. Your body needs to heal.
  6. There's only a couple of games I can still play & enjoy on my iPhone. iPad is just so much more fun 4 playing around.????

  7. Praying I feel well enough 4 church 2morrow...????

    This Will Happen To You!

Wow, thanks for sharing the hope. I was sleeved on 4/23/12, I go to the dr. on Tuesday. I'm healing nicely and am looking forward to having the energy to exercise, again. I'll be happy to get down to a size 12. I'm an 18/20, now.

  11. If you insist on going around acting like an animal, you belong in a cage...I'm just sayin'.????????????????

  12. For everyone that is pre-op I want to tell you a couple of things I wish I knew or had not blew off like Wonder Woman.1) they give you a shot in your belly for nausea. Not a deal breaker, but not fun. 2) no matter how many people tell you this you will only know from experience...the gas pain is real. That's it. 3) I came out of anesthesia & immediately thought "what have I done?" 4) people tell you you'll have to drink something nasty for the X-ray the next morning. IT'S TRUE!!!! And it's beyond nasty. 5) everyone should tell you this but I am saying...get up and walk the same day. Even if it's 1 lap down the hallway. You have got to move even though you will be hurting. Now I also had the pleasure (I'm being facetious) of having to be hooked up to a potassium drip for 6 hours on discharge day. Potassium burns. It's could be used for torture actually...potassium straight in someone's veins for 6 hours.

    Band To Sleeve

I agree, surgeons are very different. But my surgeon told me he cannot think of any reason to do a bypass rather than the sleeve. The sleeve is simpler & a much less risky procedure. I had asked about this because I really didn't want the bypass, but didn't want to be cut and have nothing done. Meaning...surgeon goes in to do the sleeve, but can't for some medical reason & bypass is the only option. I loved my surgeon because he keeps it simple. He didn't put pressure on me to lose weight prior, although I did lose about 5lb., give or take. Get referrals from more people until you find a surgeon you are comfortable with & will meet your needs. Now if 3 surgeons tell you the same thing...take it under advisement.
  14. Thank you! I am looking forward to the entire journey. I guess if it was easy everyone who did would be successful & more people would do it. Also looking forward to feeling like a million bucks
  15. Right now as far as supplements go, my nutritionist said I should start those week 2 post-op. I started my isopure again yesterday. I'm taking it slow. Yesterday I managed to get in 3 oz. I have already had 4 oz. today. I just take a 1 oz cup of isopure, let it go down & then 1oz. Of diet snapple or water. Right now I'm just going water diet snapple, & sugar free jello. I'm looking forward to yogurt & creamy soup next week. A friend from work had sleeve surgery on 4/10/11. I know that she ate food the 1st week. I know that she is doing Zumba classes already. I also know that her incisions are still tender. Now, I am barely feeling my incisions 4 days out. I didn't get fat in 4 days or 3 weeks, and I'm not going to do anything to slow my healing process. So while clear liquids absolutely suck, because they just suck....I'd rather be physically 100% at 4 weeks and follow directions.
  16. I was amped right up until I got the gown on and they started trying to find a vein for the IV...hahaha.
