It's Been A Month....
tmlockez replied to pinkiguana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 4/23/12. As of today, I'm down 26 lbs. I don't do so good with drinking, but I'm working on that. I get my protein from food, whether it's enough...I don't know. I eat meat, cheese, applesauce, fresh fruit everyday. As for the heartburn, my doc said to take Prevacid 2x a day. I never miss it. I'm doing pretty good with my vitamins. This week I did a bit of exercise. I have no idea what the next month's weight loss will be like. No vomiting to date. Hang in there. Don't give up! -
Will A Water Bottle Be Forever Glued To My Hand?
tmlockez replied to Ssilian's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 18 days out, I drink normally. I have to take it real slow eating. I wasn't a guzzler anyway. -
Hello. I had my surgery exactly 2 weeks ago, 4/23/12. I returned to work today...I just wanted to be off the liquid stage. I feel pretty good...sipped all day. I choked down most of a boiled egg this morning, before work. They were giving away coffee, bagels, & donuts at the new cafe at my job. I got a 1/2 cup of decaf, no goodies. I threw away the coffee, no taste for it yet. My eyes wanted some bread or a donut but...I was straight. I had a few spoons of Wendys chilli, for lunch. It's just important for me to let my body heal & adjust.

I Have To Cancel My Surgery. So Upset.

Every time I read about people's insurance not covering the procedure...I realize how blessed I am. Don't give up & pray. I believe GOD has the last say on everything. -
Holy Cow Be Careful What You Ask For !
tmlockez replied to beachlover1129's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I wouldn't, my 1st 2 weeks was a real roller coaster. While you need to walk & stuff, you also need to heal & rest. I would have surgery after my trip, if I were you. -
4 Weeks Post-Op... What Can You Normally Eat?
tmlockez replied to NJsharon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be careful, you don't want to have a funky reaction while you're out. But, you'll be back to solids then, right? -
I have a desk job also. I got a little sleepy around 2:30, but that's my normal poop out time. I had a serious 2 week roller coaster...I fully intend NOT to cause myself any discomfort. I had a little lunch kit ready.

I have NJ Direct BCBS... My approval sailed thru on the 1st try. I think my BMI just made 40 or 41 exactly & I have HBP.

Fat folks don't always get it either...

I am happy for you. I believed that my husband was supportive and he was, to a point. He went to dr.'s appointments, therapist...etc. But now that I had surgery last week, he seems to be a bit mean spirited. And I told him that, in a not so nice way Anyway, I had resistance from some family members, I didn't care. Anyone that doesn't have to live in my body, has nothing to say. My husband was the only one, I would have entertained, however temporary. You are 3 months out, I'm not saying gain some weight....but, enjoy it. Go to your favorite restaurants, etc. that's what I did & I think I still lost a little prior to surgery.

I have theses stabbing gas pains in between my shoulder blades & in my chest. I can't burp, really, like I could once upon a time. I used a heating pad on my back for hours. Please, I'll do anything....suggestions.

Thank you for the info. The funny thing is, the applesauce is the only thing I've enjoyed, besides an Italian ice.

How long does the blasted air last? It literally came out f nowhere. I find it hard to believe a little cup of apple sauce caused this much discomfort. I was sleeved on 4/23/12.
-
It started after I ate applesauce (no sugar added - natural). I eat a bit from the tip of the spoon, when I eat anything. I'm taking the Prevacid for heartburn, that's why I thought it was probably gas.
-
Thanks for the info.

Good morning. Sunday I started cream soup. I had not been taking my Prevacid. Sunday night, I just felt stuffed from a few teaspoons of soup, but it never went away. Monday was just miserable, it took me all day & a conversation with a good friend to figure out it was heartburn. I didn't eat anything but 2 - 2 1/2 oz. of yogurt that evening. I drank all day, but no protein. On Tuesday, while the heartburn was gone, I was so weak yesterday, & I now believe its because I had no protein the day before. Even yesterday I had not desire to eat. Well I learned. Prevacid everyday. Protein drink everyday. Lots of liquid everyday. And I'll work on the rest. It sucks to have a string of good days & then to get knocked on your behind.

Jeans For Small Waist/big Thighs
tmlockez replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would buy jeans to fit my butt & thighs, then have them tailored in the waist. -
How long did it take for your big incision to heal? I mean the one the pulled the stomach out of....mine is healing but funky looking compared to the other 4.
-
Pilates is not fun, energetic, or simple. But it is definitely serious exercise. My Denise Austin Pilates video is the only one that causes me pain when I haven't done it for a while. Major butt & thigh muscle soreness.
-
Thank you. I had some apple sauce today & can swear I feel a little something something. I'm thinking about how a good old Seagrams ginger ail WAS the cure all for stomach woes.
-
The rest I can barely see. They don't itch, but the area itches.
-
My Dr. told me it would look funkier, but when I actually got a look at it....I was a bit put off.

My god sister had the bypass 4 years ago. Today she told she always has a heating pad with her for heartburn & gas.

New To Forum & Sleeved On Monday 4/23/12
tmlockez posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello. I was sleeved on Monday & released late Tuesday afternoon. It was supposedly a routine procedure, & everything I've experienced to date is normal. I almost backed out on Monday, I got a little scared. I thought to myself...I can stay fat and eat what I want...I don't have to do this. Then I thought about how absolutely miserable I've been emotionally and physically, with the weight. Each day gets better. No pain meds since Tuesday, when I was discharged. Mainly because I felt horribly nauseated when I tried to take liquid Tylenol w/codeine. I then tried to chase it with a swig of isopure. The thought of vomiting right now is so terrifying, that 1 wrong move cures me. My incisions are healing nicely, I came home without the infamous tube. I don't feel strong because liquids just don't do that for anyone in general. I slept all night, for the first time last night. Moderators feel free to move this to the appropriate thread.
