    Approved!!! Woohoo!!!

Thank you guys! I am excited and I will keep you posted. I can't wait to get this party started!!!
  2. Cute dress and love the shoes. Definitely an up-do w/the hair...dangling earrings...and multiple bracelets. No need for a necklace b/c of the beading on the bodice. I'm sure you'll look great!

    Christian Bandsters

Hey ya'll! I am excited to see this thread. I love the Lord w/all my heart. I know that we can all be a great source of support and encouragement for one another. This site alone has been absolutely wonderful. I haven't been banded, yet...but hopefully soon. For those who have felt a little guilty about the Band, let me just say this...don't. It kinda reminds me of those who deal w/mental illness and take medication and/or get therapy. Some well-intentioned Christians make you feel like your faith is lacking, or you're not trusting in the Lord enough, etc...like you're taking the 'easy' way out. There is nothing wrong w/using medical technology/advances to better your health. You are taking care of the temple (1 COR 3:16; 1 COR 6:19). Sure, I believe God still does heal today, but healing comes in different forms. Sometimes it's supernaturally and immediately. Other times, it comes through medicine or surgery. Sometimes, it comes naturally through time and the body's own healing process. Just a few thoughts.

Hahaha!!! I think you're right about the referral fees. They certainly are getting a lot of business & free advertisement, huh??? How did your follow-up go? We really should plan a get-together. I will be glad to help out.

I'm waiting for insurance approval right now...I am soooo antsy. I am ready to do this!!! I'm sure Carefirst/BCBS is sick of hearing from me. I keep calling and checking to see if I've been approved, yet. Like BJ said, we'll have to get together. I think it's a great idea! I certainly will keep ya'll posted.
  6. I would like to know if anyone has heard about addiction transfer (AT) after having weight loss surgery (WLS). I've been hearing and reading about some folks who were addicted to food prior to WLS, and now post-op, they have become addicted to other things (alcohol, drugs, shopping, smoking, sex, etc.). From what I've read, it doesn't happen to many, but it is something to think about. I'm sure this is where the psych eval would definitely come in to play to help identify those who may be at risk for this. I guess the key would be to replace the food addiction w/something positive (i.e., walking, knitting, chewing gum, etc.). Have you heard about this?
  7. Hey. I'm a SoulCyster, too! :fish:

    Keeping it a secret?

I love the part about not needing to hear anyone else's uneducated thoughts...love it, love it, love it! :clap2: I have only told my mom and dad and a couple close friends. They are happy for me. I don't plan on telling anyone else. It's my body and if I want to take advantage of this awesome medical technology to improve my health and my life, well so be it.

Same day surgery? Not here :-(

My doc told me that I will be staying overnight (1 night). That's fine by me. I will feel much better knowing that I'm in the hospital if something is to go wrong that first night.
  10. I have yet to be banded, but am also praying the Band will help me w/PCOS. The weight loss will be a huge help. Wacky periods, infertility, hot flashes, and facial hair are noooo fun!

    A thread for Single Bandsters

I just found this thread and think it's a great idea. I am 28 and about to join the rest of you Bandsters. I'm so excited. I, too, am single and certainly having a hard time dating. It's so hard to find folks w/good morals/values, and goals. I certainly don't focus on it. I live a pretty successful life and enjoy my family and friends, but it sure would be nice to have a significant other, you know??? Anyhow...Hope this thread continues.

    Lapband in the DC Area

Hi Pamela! I live in SoMD (Lexington Park - 30-45 mins south of Waldorf)). I go to Dr. Halmi in Woodbridge, VA. I know it's a little bit of a drive, but understand that Halmi and Tran are great surgeons. I had my very first consultation on Monday, 4/30. I am just waiting for my insurance (Carefirst/BCBS) to approve me. Dr. Halmi was nice and knowledgeable. His staff was very nice to me, too. I am so excited! I called the office to ask about the pre-op diet, but there isn't one aside from the night before. And this is the standard w/any surgery. P.S.--The drive isn't that bad at all.
  13. I've had my first consultation (4/30). Now I am waiting for insurance approval. I know they will approve the procedure, but I just want to know about how long I'll have to wait. I know it varies w/different insurances, but I just want a roundabout timeframe. I have Carefirst/BCBS. Thanks!

How do I take my daily meds?

The quote in your signature is one of my favorites. It is so true how our thoughts ultimately lead to our destiny. We have to be careful what we're telling ourselves. That negative self-talk is sabotage! I know it's a little off the topic, but I just had to say that.

    Tomorrow!

I wish you the best tomorrow. Keep us posted!

How do I take my daily meds?

Like Travelgirl said, you need to contact your docs or pharmacist. You may want to see if your meds are available in liquid form instead of pill/capsule form. I've also heard of people putting their crushed meds in applesauce...Just an idea. Hope that helps.

    How Long for Insurance Approval

Oh wow! Really?!?! 4-7 days?!?! That is awesome! I'm hoping my turnaround time is sooner than what I was told...that would be really nice.

    Newbie from Savannah

I'm sure that was a big let down. Well, at least you have the meeting to look forward to tomorrow night. I'm a newbie, too. I just had my first consultation w/my doc yesterday. I am sooo excited! I wish you the best. Enjoy tomorrow's info session.

    How Long for Insurance Approval

I just spoke to my docs office and they said anywhere from 2 weeks to 1 month. Woohoo! I can't wait! I'm praying for 2 weeks. I wanna get the ball rolling. Thank you!
  21. I think that's a great idea! I will certainly keep you posted. I can't really believe that this is actually gonna happen!!! I am sooo ready for a lifestyle change. Who did your surgery - Halmi or Tran? Like I said, I met w/Halmi today and he seemed rather reserved. He answered all of my questions and the lady at the front desk was very nice to me...so I am feeling pretty good about this. Who are the other folks from SoMD???
  22. How funny! I was just about to reply to one of your postings in the Protein Shakes thread (b/c I saw you went to Dr. Halmi/Tran)...then I saw this thread. I am from Southern MD (Lexington Park). I just had my first consultation today w/Dr. Halmi. I am so excited!!!!

Flash! I finally have a date!

Hi everyone. I'm so excited b/c I am about to join the banded family. I have my first consultation w/the doc on 4/30. I'm kinda nervous :nervous b/c this is really gonna happen. My insurance covers the procedure, so at least that is good. Hopefully I'll get a date on Monday, too.
