American Idol 2007
chimboree26 replied to smatyas's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I gotta agree w/both Shelli and Green. Of the 3 remaining, Melinda by far had the most talent. She was very professional and had stage presence. Not to say that Blake and Jordin aren't talented, but Melinda had the 'it' factor. I truly thought it was going to be b/w her and Jordin. Jordin is extremely talented, especially to be only 17 years old. And yes, I agree, Melinda will make it just fine. Just a shame she didn't win. -
Hello! I am from Southern Maryland (Lexington Park, Great Mills, Patuxent River--You may have heard of one of these cities.) Like you, I am hoping to be banded soon. Just waiting for my insurance to approve me. Just know that we're all here for one another. Keep us posted.

Hi Kathy! Just wanted to say that I used to work at St. Agnes. That was my first "real job" out of college. Hope all is going well for you! -

Glad to see a MK Sister on here! ) You will absolutely love your business. I sure do. I am working on selling MK full-time. WOOHOO!!! I can't wait for the day when I can resign. -
Welcome! I live in St. Mary's County...so just a little south of ya'll. Glad you found us here. As you've already discovered, this site is wonderful. You can find out almost anything and everything!!! LOL I have Carefirst/BCBS and I know my insurance does cover it. It's not the Federal coverage, but you probably won't have any problems, either. Just give your HR dept a call and talk to your Benefits Administrator. You can also call you insurance co. directly, but be careful b/c sometimes the reps that answer the phones don't always know what they're talking about. We wish you the best and once again, welcome!

Just starting out...have questions about comorbidities..
chimboree26 replied to LMJLMJ's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Michelle. I have PCOS and my surgeon said that was very important in getting my insurance to approve...so you may want to see about getting treated for that...my doc (GYN) prescribed glucophage (which I've since stopped) and birth control pills. Just an idea... -
Unfortunately, I have to agree w/Isabelle. If they don't cover it, then you can try to appeal it, or self-pay. Sorry!
-
What insurance do you have? Do you have a copy of your benefits/coverage manual? I'm just asking b/c sometimes the insurance co reps don't know what they're talking about...
-
Ok, let's see... -poor customer service -people talking on cell phones in the middle of a transaction (like if they're going through the line in the grocery store...they won't even acknowledge the cashier. How rude...) Give me a minute and I'm sure I can think of some others...
-
Curious...does anyone have Carefirst BCBS? If so, have you been approved for the procedure? Thanks!

Keeping it a secret?

Thanks! I tend to do that a lot...make up little ditties...I love to sing. Something is always triggering a song for me...it drives some of my friends nuts! -
I have been approved!!!! I got a call today from my docs office. Carefirst/BCBS approved me w/2 requirements that need to be met. (1) Psych eval and (2) 6 months documented weight loss effort. I have no problem w/either of these requirements. The psych eval will be easy to get done and the documented weight loss effort will be the year I spent at Curves. My docs office said all I have to do is bring the receipt/contract agreement. I'm also asking them to print out how often I came in (b/c you have to scan your membership card before you workout.)--just for extra info. They also said if I had any Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers logs, that would be acceptable, too. :whoo:Woohoo!!!!:whoo: *singing* I'm so excited...and I just can't hide it...I'm about to lose control and I think I like it!!!

And that's all they are...haters!!! *singing* (to the melody of 'It's My Party & I'll Cry If I Want To') It's my body and I'll band if I want to, band if I want to, band if I want to...you would band too if weight loss didn't happen for you!! -
-Mary Kay (skincare & cosmetics) -Iced Green Tea (Panera Bread) -Crystal Lite to Go -Laptop/Hi-Speed Access -Sleep # Bed (I'm a 45 - 50)

Well, chimboree is nickname from college. My real name is Cherea (pronounced Sheree). And the 26 comes from my birthday, 10/26. Nothing too spectacular...

Absolutely we'll pray for you. How about right now? Heavenly Father, we come to you on Liz's behalf. Lord, You know the challenges that she has faced and the struggles she's had to endure. We just ask that You send arms of comfort to her during this time of depression...give her strength now and also during these next 6 months. Lord, we thank You and praise You. In Jesus' name! AMEN

Welcome! And you are so right about renewing the mind. Through Him who strengthens us, we can do all things and that includes being a Bandster/Bandolina/etc...!!!

I loved your post. I have always loved the Psalms. They certainly put into words what my heart and soul have felt so many times. David is so raw at times w/his emotion. Gotta love it!!!

chimboree26 replied to Pamela Yvonne's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Yes, you're right. I'm going to Dr. Halmi/Dr. Tran at Potomac Hospital. So far, they and their staff have been great. I thought I would be bothering the staff with my regular calls to see if I'd been approved yet...but nope. They were very nice and seemed like they understand that we're anxious and just wanna know. I will certainly keep ya'll posted!!! -
:clap2: I'm excited for you!!! I have to have my psych eval done and submit 6 mos worth of weight loss history before I get approved. Hopefully I will know soon. I'm scheduled for my psych eval on Mon, 5/14. I've been gathering my wt loss info (receipts, logs, medical records, etc.). Hopefully it will be enough. Congrats again!!!!!

Just curious...if your insurance company required 6 months documented weight loss efforts, what did you provide and did they accept it? Was it Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, gym receipts, journals/logs, etc??? Thanks!

Documented Weight Loss
chimboree26 replied to chimboree26's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well, I'm thinking I jumped the gun...I got the call from the doctor's office and they told me that I have the coverage and I just need to send them my psych eval and 6 months of weight loss history...I'm just nervous about the wt loss history part. I haven't been on a medically supervised diet. I printed the actual medical policy and it says that the "structured diet program can include commonly available diet programs such as Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig..." I've also requested my insurance co to fax me a copy of the exact requirements. -
Documented Weight Loss
chimboree26 replied to chimboree26's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Was this documentation sufficient? Were her visits specifically for wt loss or was she seen for other stuff? And can I ask, what insurance does she have? Thanks! -
I went to FREAKIN LB solely because of the sale coupon they sent to me...Buy One Bottom, Get One Free. I was so excited. I get to the store only to find out this particular store wasn't participating in this sale. Whatever. They should've honored it, anyway. I am a very loyal customer there...And I have to drive 45 mins to get to our closest mall/LB. Talk about mad. :angry I thought it was so funny when I saw this rant...I definitely can relate.

Documented Weight Loss
chimboree26 replied to chimboree26's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well, I am going to do like ya'll suggest and get my insurance co. to send me the exact requirements. The docs office told me the insurance requires at least a 6 mos weight loss history - not a medically-supervised wt loss. I am just starting to get nervous :nervous thinking my Curves documentation won't be enough... Please pray for me!!! I don't want them to come back and deny me.
