Goodness gracious! Yep, definitely sounds like the subconscious at work. That is great that you are so calm about it. I've had other surgeries before, but none of them have been lap. I don't usually get too nervous when having surgery, and thankfully I recover very quickly...so I'm praying this will be no different. I'm scheduled on a Wed and planning to go back on Monday. I have a desk job, so I should be okay. I didn't check your signature, but where are you from/having surgery?
-
Thanks, Lynette. I am having my surgery done by Dr. Halmi at Potomac Hospital in VA. I actually got a little nervous last night thinking about the surgery. I was like, wow, this is really gonna happen!!!!!!!

I wholeheartedly agree!!! -
Pleased to meet you, too! I would love to meet all of you in person one day. I love this website and this thread. It inspires and encourages me so much! I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Please pray for the troops who are serving (and their families), and take a moment to remember those who served and gave the ultimate sacrifice. Blessings!!!

Reesh, we're praying for you. We know that the Lord will give you guidance and wisdom to handle this situation. And as Gadgetlady said, I would try to find a counselor and get some help for yourself first, and then get help for the marriage. If you get help for the anxiety that you're feeling, that may help you to have a clearer head to deal w/some of the other stuff. Stay strong!

That's what I'll be watching tonight. Yeah, Tuesdays are gonna be a little weird, now. Oh well. -
Glad you're back. I'm one of those new faces. Haven't been banded, yet, but I can't wait. P.S.--Your name cracks me up. That is something I wish I had...lol!!! I think I went to the bathroom when God was passing those out.
-
I am so happy that we were able to help you out! That touches my heart like you wouldn't believe. You are so right. You're not being vain. Yes, one benefit of being banded results in the improvement of how we look, but the other benefits outweigh the cosmetic/outward improvements. If we continue to be overweight, we are shortchanging our lives...diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, joint pain, infertility, and we all know the list goes on and on. Becoming a bandolina will improve our quality of life tremendously. I can't wait!!!

AMEN TO THAT!!!!! I am searching right now for a maid. I,too, live alone in a 2BD/2BA condo, but I know it would free me up tremendously to have help. *singing* Free your mind and the rest will follow... (Everything triggers a song w/me. lol)

How wonderful!!! I am so glad that you obeyed the Holy Spirit's leading. God is truly awesome. I know that word awesome has been overused, misused, and abused, but God is truly awe-inspiring, truly awesome. It is so funny how we are surprised when God does move and work. Like you said, I don't know why we are so surprised when He does what He said He would do. LOL. And yes, He is so faithful. Bless you for what you have done. I know in my heart that you changed somebody's heart and eternal destiny in that moment.

Hi J2mommi! I am from Southern MD and I am using Dr. Halmi & Dr. Tran in Woodbridge, VA. I will be having my surgery at Potomac Hospital. They and their staff are great. They are considered a Bariatric Center of Excellence by the American Society of Bariatric Surgery. Check 'em out. -

Hello everyone! Just wanted to drop a line or two. Below you'll find a little poem that has always touched my heart. Hope you enjoy it! (There are many variations on this poem floating around, but the original is by Carol Wimmer.) When I Say I Am a Christian When I say, "I am a Christian," I'm not shouting, "I'm clean livin!" I'm whispering, "I was lost, now I'm found and forgiven." When I say, "I am a Christian," I don't speak with human pride I'm confessing that I stumble - needing God to be my guide. When I say, "I am a Christian," I'm not trying to be strong I'm professing that I'm weak and pray for strength to carry on. When I say, "I am a Christian," I'm not bragging of success I'm admitting thta I've failed and cannot ever pay the debt. When I say, "I am a Christian," I don't think I know it all I submit to my confusion asking humbly to be taught. When I say, "I am Christian," I'm not claiming to be perfect My flaws are far too visible but God believes I'm worth it. When I say, "I am a Christian," I still feel the sting of pain I have my hsare of heartache which is why I seek His name. When I say, "I am a Christian," I do not wish to judge I have no authority--I only know I'm loved. (additional verse not from the original) When I say, "I am a Christian," I'm not holier than thou, I'm just a simple sinner Who received God's good grace, somehow.

I think this is an excellent topic to discuss. It is one that will inevitably come up for us Bandsters. I think it is important to: (1) be certain within yourself the reasons for being banded, (2) realize some truly are concerned about your safety, (3) realize some truly believe being banded is the easy way out/you're too lazy to do it on your own/etc.... (4) realize some just won't understand I think if you politely explain that this is going to improve your health and quality of life, that should be more than sufficient. Of course, some people will give you their own opinions, but let it go in one ear and out the other. I haven't been banded, yet, but this is what I plan to do. Easier said than done, I'm sure. Just remember, ultimately, this is your life decision and as long as you're ready for the change, that's all that matters.

chimboree26 replied to Fluffy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Don't even sweat the haters! Don't worry about what they say...I know that's easier said than done. You are doing GREAT!!! And I think the Lap Band is a better procedure (IMO)--b/c we don't get that bobble-headed look like a lot of GBP patients. I think that look comes from the rapid weight loss. Just keep your head up, encourage yourself, and keep up the good work. -
Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I pray that all is going well for each of you. Be blessed and don't give up!! Cherea
