Glad you decided to join us! Wow. 7/3 is coming up soon. We need to add you to the ever-growing Lucky 7's list. Since you've lurked (that sounds funny), I'm sure you know how much info is available here. I feel so prepared and truly confident. Thanks LBT! Who's your surgeon and where will you be banded?
-
And no, my mom calls me Cherea (pronounced Sheree).
-
Hahaha!!! Great minds must think alike b/c I was just updating the list. It looks great. I'm sure it will continue to grow the closer we get to July.
-
well, they can process it from the remains (from cremation) or hair if the family didn't choose cremation.

Yes, I watch Big Medicine and I like it, so far. I, too, wish they had more Lap Band coverage. I think GB is just too invasive. Why don't we make it happen w/the Lap Band series??? Ariel: Wow. I didn't catch that comment on the Inside Brookhaven. I'm really disappointed b/c I've been watching this show, too. I agree. How can they be so negative towards bariatric surgery? I'm a bit confused by that one.

Thank you. I have the countdown going...'only' 49 more days. I'm about to start shopping for the stuff I'm gonna need. I need to get some samples of the various Protein shakes and find out which ones I like before I buy a big 'ol $50 box...just to find out they're nasty!
-
Oh yeah. Biola is awesome. I thought about going there for my Master's program, but chickened out b/c I didn't want to move to the West Coast.
-
I have a ton of podcasts, too, on my iPod. I love Kay Arthur and doing her Precepts Upon Precepts studies. You are too funny. "...I'm just thankful that I am also sweating at the time, so I don't look like such a baby." Now that's a real man, in my opinion!!! One who cries and realizes how blessed and loved he truly is.

Interested in a Gathering?
chimboree26 replied to Alexandra's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well, I am definitely up for planning, but I don't want to be the team leader. I always end up leading things, so I've been trying to step back from taking on any other leadership roles for now, but I will DEFINITELY help. Who else is helping out? -
No Need for Antidepressants After Banding?
chimboree26 replied to chimboree26's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm hoping that w/the increased activity/exercise, I may be able to at least lower my dosage of Lexapro. I was on Effexor XR for years before it lost its effectiveness. I know when I do exercise, I feel sooooo much better and am hoping that I can get off this med...but if not, then oh well. It's all good and realize that I may have to take it for the rest of my life. I know for me, I was diagnosed w/depression prior to my wt gain. For me, the wt was put on during the depression. I gained 50 lbs my freshman year of college! And the wt gain has continued from there. -
Goodness gracious!!! You have been through the flippin ringer. I'm sorry. I take it back...but I'm still jealous. LOL!!! It's good, though, that you have persisted. Look at that determination. And look at you now...I'm sure w/all this struggle, you will appreciate your band that much more. Do you have to do a pre-op diet?
-
Hey Quinn! Glad to have you. When are you getting banded and who's your doc?

I am so jealous that your date is coming up so soon...I have 49 more days to go (but who's counting???:guess ). Certainly keep us up-to-date.

Insurance requires 6 month physician visit...
chimboree26 replied to Kimmie's topic in Insurance & Financing
Kimmie, any word yet? And when you say 6 months physician visits, are you meaning just a weight loss history or 6 months of a supervised diet? My insurance (Carefirst/BCBS) asked for 6 months of weight loss history. They said medical records, logs from Jenny Craig, Curves, WW, etc. could be provided. I sent a year's worth of medical records that documented my wt history, and included notes where I discussed wt. loss efforts w/my doc. I also provided my contract/receipts from the gym and from Curves. I also included a log where I tried the Sonoma Diet, Suddenly Slim, etc. This was enough info b/c I was approved. Let us know what happens. -
Needing encouragement..Am I one step closer to approval?
chimboree26 replied to LMJLMJ's topic in Insurance & Financing
I know each insurance varies, but from what you've listed (BMI and co-morbidities), I certainly don't see why you wouldn't be approved. I have Carefirst/BCBS and I was approved about a week ago. I, too, have PCOS. My surgeon said that was very important in getting approval, soooo...just from my personal viewpoint, I would think you should be good to go. Again, all insurance vary, so I don't want to give you false hopes, but it seems that you have a pretty good chance of approval. Keep us posted!!! -
I'm sorry you're feeling so down. Don't for one minute think that you're alone. I'm sure there are tons of us on this board that have been where you are right now. I know I sometimes look in the mirror and think, "Wow...why did I let myself get to this point?!?!?!?" You are doing great by researching the Band to see if it's an option for you. I know for me, it is the best decision. Check this link for more info/Frequently Asked Questions: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f73/ Also, to have one on one personal questions, you can Private Message (PM) someone or ask for his/her email address. I hope this helps!!! Hope you're feeling better.

I agree w/Julie. I think there's probably still some swelling/irritation from all the vomiting. I would contact my docs office, just to be on the safe, side, though. Good luck! Let us know what happens.

I would love to get together. Vegas or Orlando works for me. I would love to help plan/organize! -
This is totally off topic, but I could really use some feedback...
chimboree26 replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
To be honest, I don't think you're being selfish at all. You told her no from the beginning. It's not your fault that her other plans fell through. You (1) physically do not have the space for her and her kids, (2) you wouldn't feel comfortable having them there, (3) You told her no once before. You don't even need to tell her that you wouldn't feel comfortable w/them there (unless you want to), but just tell her your housing situation and that should be enough. I'm sure you want to see her and the kids and spend time w/them, but if they stay w/you, you won't even have a chance to enjoy their company. Stick to your guns and tell her no, again. -
Going back to school would be a great idea! I am currently in a Master's program. I was working on a dual Master's in Theology and Counseling, but I've decided to not do the Counseling degree. I am just so burned out right now...But I go to Regent University (VA Beach, VA). Awesome, awesome school. The professors and students are wonderful. I do a combo of online classes and on campus (1x a year). Maybe you should look into their program.

Hi Sher! Glad you found us. So, are you banded already, or thinking about it?

Congratulations!!! Yeah, it's a good thing you're not superstitious. Neither am I, and I'm sure all we go well for you. Don't forget to join us at the Lucky 7s (July 07 Bandsters) Thread!!! -
What is the best brand/model of MATTRESS for larger-size people?
chimboree26 replied to prepster's topic in The Lounge
Yes, yes, yes. I have a Select Comfort bed and I love it. I am a 55-60. I bought the dual bed, so I can control my side and when I get a husband (I'm single.), he'll be able to control his. Try it out. A lot of malls have these stores and you can go in and get an actual demo. -
Don't you just love LBT? It certainly does help us in our preparation for pre-op/post-op and then some! I feel extremely confident about this surgery and about what to expect. Good for you that you don't have to stay in the hotel! As we know, hotels aren't cheap (even the "cheap" ones). And as for the last meals, I am soooo trying to not have the Last Supper mentality. I keep telling myself to not go overboard b/c that will be just more weight I have to take off once I'm banded.
