How is it getting stuff down? Does it hurt or feel funny? Have you pb'd yet? How are your incisions? Did your docs use stitches, glue, staples...??? Questions are starting to come to me.
-
Yeah Dini! You're back. Good to know you're doing well. My pre-op appt w/the hospital has been changed. It's been moved from 7/19 to 7/11 instead. I'll be glad when all this preop stuff is over. I just want to be banded soooo bad! As well as the goals we've been posted (which I think are great...ya'll are giving me ideas, too.), I think we should post what type of exercise we're gonna be doing. I will be doing a lot of walking. I love to walk and it has always helped me to lose wt. I got a couple DVDs of Walk Away the Pounds. I've heard it's s'posed to be great. I've watch one of them and like it so far. We'll see. As I lose more wt, I'll be able to do other things, but I know walking will be my primary form of exercise.

Hey everyone! Wow...so much going on here. I've been trying to keep track w/my lil notebook... Newbies, CKBW, welcome!!! You've got a date! Let the journey begin. Dini Bini, where are you? Are you okay? Breadlady, how 'bout you? You are doing so well. 14lbs already!!! Good for you. AshRae, I'm not sure if they'll make you take them off, but I know they usually ask that you remove the polish. Just ask at your pre-op interview at the hospital. Lynette, goodness gracious. What a day, what a day! Now, just relax and just enjoy getting prepared this weekend for your big day! Can you believe it is here??? LyssaRene, yes, we are all going to fabulous "Hottie Jalotties" come New Year's 2008. Marcy, lol. More bloodshed than Normandy. You're about right. I had my pre-op date moved up to 7/11. I'm not looking forward to the poking and prodding. I've gotta do an EKG, upper GI series, chest x-ray, and bloodwork. But I know it's all for my good. Kathy, thanks for the intro. We are glad to have you and look forward to getting to know you. I loved your goals, but I really loved the comment about your hubby. ("One thing I don't have to wait for is the look of passion in my husbands eye... he thinks I'm amazing whatever I look like.") That was so sweet! As for a pre-op diet, I don't have one. YIPPEEEEE!!! Post-op, I will be on full liquids for 7-10 days, mushies for 4 weeks, then solids. Sunshine, it's official. 7/26! Yay!! I will update our calendar. WOW. We are certainly growing and an active group. Gotta love it!!!!!! And don't forget to snag other Lucky 7's if you see them out on other threads. Just let them know that we're here. :biggrin1:

Oh I know the feeling about the seats. I'm not to the point yet, where I can't fit in a movie theater seat, but it's starting to get a little uncomfortable, especially if someone is next to me.

The NG is for nasogastric tube. It's what they use when they need to access your stomach via tube (i.e. pumping your stomach, etc.). If the try to insert one blindly (w/o a scope), then they will end up forcing it (b/c of the resistance from the band) and they could tear your stomach. AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!:omg: I found that out on another thread on here. I think it's a poll started by Laurend called Medical Alert ID or Not...

LyssaRene No problem. I know what you mean about being turned loose, but the journal is just your thing and others can view it if they want to. But we still want you to post here whatever your heart desires! We'll be right there w/you. The beauty of this site. Lynette, I don't have a pre-op diet, either. Did you feel like you should do one anyway??? I'm wondering if I should...and I love your goals, too. The bra thing is one of mine, too...and can you believe I had a breast reduction and they're still pretty big??? Dini and Breadlady, is there anything that has happened that you weren't prepared for (Dini, aside from the fall)?

Hey LyssaRene, Not sure if you're aware of the journal feature here at LBT. You can go on there and journal your whole LapBand journey. Just look up on the toolbar and you'll see Home, UserCP, Gallery, and Journal. Just click there and get started. I love your idea, though. Just thought this might be a little easier.

Hi MsPris. We all certainly know how some family members can be. Just remember, this is a decision that you are making for you...and eventually, the naysayers may see the light...or maybe they won't. Either way, it's all good. You are making a change for the better. You will be so much healthier, feel better about yourself, and have a lot more energy. How can anyone argue against that??? We all know that just getting up from the table doesn't work...we just take the food w/us and eat it from the couch!!! :heh: LOL. Just stay positive about your decision and keep coming here for additional support and encouragement.

LyssaRene, fortunately, I don't have a pre-op diet :whoo:...but I'm thinking I'm going to do one anyway. I am still trying to find out what protein shakes I like. I did go to www.bariatriceating.com to get some samples. I've found one so far that I like. I did get one from Wal-Mart that I found disgusting! I have to get back to you w/the names. They're at home and I'm at work. Welcome Kathybad and congrats! Yes, I know I'm starting to get a few butterflies every now and then and my date isn't until 7/25!!! I can only imagine how the others (who are up next week )are feeling. No problem Cazulay. I enjoy helping out. My psychiatrist interview was very painless. She's my regular psychiatrist, so she just asked me questions about my past and then we spent a lot of time talking about the surgery itself...you know, what changes it will entail, how that will affect me, any addiction transfer, etc. It was a good session. :biggrin1:

I LOVE your goals. And you are so right about wanting to feel good about the nakedness underneath!!! I definitely got a smile outta that one. And your last one is soooo sweet. The prize your husband deserves. I just think that is so great. (But I'm sure he loves you 110% just the way you are.) I don't have a hubby, yet, but I believe that by me taking care of myself as a result of this surgery... things may change in the relationship dept.

Here's the updated calendar. Let me know if there are any changes to be made! July 2007 Bandsters.doc

Hey gang! How's it going? Just wanted to pop in and say hello!!!!
-
YAYYYYY!!!! I heard that huge sigh of relief. Is your surgery on the 5th or 6th? B/C you're on the 5th on our calendar. Just let me know and we'll update it. You're too funny asking Breadlady if she's making bubbles! LOL!! :biggrin1: Yes, Dini Bini, we hope you're feeling better. Boy have I been the little chatterbox today??? :laugh

I forgot to tell ya'll. I ordered my Medical Alert ID bracelet from Lauren's Hope (Lauren's Hope - Medical ID Bracelets, Medical ID Watches, Mothers Bracelets, and 14k Gold Bracelets) and I got it yesterday. I LOVE it! At first, I didn't think I needed one, but I was reading a thread on here and it convinced me. Here's what I put on mine: Name Gastric Band Patient No Blind NG Tube No NSAIDs I've attached a pic of it, too. I just don't want to ever be in a position where I'm unconscious and can't tell those that need to know, that I have a band. They could do unknowingly do some damage. Medical Alert Bracelet.bmp

Hang in there. Of course that's easy for me to say, right??? Especially since my doc doesn't require a pre-op diet. (Sorry...not trying to rub it in.) I can only imagine. I drank one of my protein shakes for lunch today and by dinner, I was starving!!! But I know you can do it...especially since you have to. That always seems to give us that extra little push.

Absolutely! I'm sorry I missed you. You're go to go now. July 2007 Bandsters.doc

I have created a list of goals/things that I want to do or be able to do. Some of them may sound funny, but they mean a lot to me. So, here goes...just a few of them: - To have a healthy, sexy, toned body - ooh la la mon cherie! - I want to be able to cross my legs comfortably (if I want to). - I want exercise to be a normal part of my life, just like brushing my teeth. - I want to be able to see my belly button w/o lifting up a roll. - I want to wear an iPod fitness strap and have it actually fit my arm, w/o an extension. - I want to be able to wear a bathing suit w/o the skirt thingy on the bottom or a cover-up. - I want to be healed/cured of PCOS, so that I can have regular periods (can’t believe I’m saying that one), babies (later on), and not have a mustache and goatee (the shaving, waxing, and plucking has gotten old)!!! -To be able to wrap a REGULAR towel all the way around w/o having an opening Isn't it funny how these little things will mean so much???
-
Hey Ya'll! Welcome Cazulay, LyssaRenee, and Jodie! Glad to have you. :biggrin1: We've added you to our calendar. See the attached. All, how's it going? Lynette, Laurend, Bobbert's Mom, Mrs. Horne, Abbey, Cherrybomb, Snaggletooth, and LWesson, you guys are on deck for next week. Oh yeah, oh yeah :whoo:... Let us know what you're doing (pre-op, shopping, freaking, etc.). July 2007 Bandsters.doc

Welcome Forgve!!! Congrats on your date and I will certainly add you to the calendar. You are officially a Lucky 7!! Glad to have you. Dini, we know you are getting better by the moment. Is there anything that has happened (surgery-wise) that you didn't expect? I figured being on your period during the surgery would not be fun, so that's why I manipulated mine to happen before. Are you sleeping okay? Are you taking lots of pain meds? Thanks for updating us! Where's everyone??? I see I'm the only one in the thread right now...Do I smell or something? LOL!!!!
-
Welcome, Ronik! You will love our group. I will add you to our calendar. Dini, we are so glad to hear from you!!! I'm sorry you've had an experience so far. Wow! You hit your head on the sink?!?! Did the nurses know? Did they find you? Oh my goodness. No concussion or lumps on the head, though? You said you can feel the band through the skin. Do you mean the port? Please keep us posted. I hope you're feeling much better and in less pain. And remember to walk as much as you can to get rid of that gas. I'm still praying for you!
