Lynette, sorry we can passing like ships in the night! I'm sure we'll get to talk this evening though, b/c I'll be at work online. Hope you and Hunter are having fun!!!
-
I asked my doc where my port would be and he told me on my right side, slightly below my bra line...so we'll see.

That is wonderful they're all so supportive. I've only told a handful of people at work. The ones that I know will be supportive. And so far, they have been. They are so excited for me and can't wait! I'm sorry about your shoulder. I think you should try putting the heating pad on your abdomen (where your diaphragm is) b/c if I understand right, the shoulder pain is referred pain from your diaphragm. Just an idea.

Hello m'am. I'm at home right now. I don't go in until 3pm. The clowns, haha. I know how family can be, trust me. Lately, I've been staying away from mine (except my mom & dad, and my fav cousin Natasha). Too much drama sometimes. I just can't and don't want to deal w/it. Life is too short to be bothered w/that stuff, you know? Yes, I am tickled pink that this infection is on its way out the door!!! I have my final appt w/the surgeon and nutritionist on Thursday. Wow. It's really getting close.

Hey gang! How's everyone doing? I'm trying to slow down. Actually on Saturday, I got plenty of rest and I think that has helped me kick this infection. I'm still finishing the antibiotics, but I feel sooo much better. YAY!!!!! Dmtjet, of course we can be sisters! Like Lynette said, I feel like I'm family w/ya'll already. I can't wait to meet ya'll in person one day! Dini, sounds like your day has started out a little rough. And poor Annafrancesca. I don't have any kiddies, yet, but remember when my sis had her son. They lived w/us for his first 3 years. I remember the teething process...drool everywhere! And tons of popsicles! LOL. That seemed to help him out a lot. Wow. You got a deal on Annafrancesca's clothes. I'm jealous. Ash, I hope you're doing well at work. Has anyone asked you any questions? Do they know what you had done? Kathybad, love your pics of your men (and your kitchen, too). How old's your son? And now you HAVE to keep us updated on your kitchen and post and after pic! I will be posting an updated calendar later this evening, so stay tuned.

Hey guys! I'm sorry I've been MIA. I have been super busy. I guess I will have to catch up w/ya'll tomorrow evening. Welcome to our new friends, SDChick and BMS0502! I am so tired right now. I'm sorry gang. I promise I'll be more social tomorrow night!!! Nighty, night. :notagree

Hey ya'll! Just droppin in to see what's happening, and as usual, there's a lot going on! :high5: I've been in and out of the house, and I'm heading out for the evening, so I'll be back later to talk more. I'm sure there will be plenty to read and respond to. BTW, someone asked about multi-quoting. Just click the Multi-Quote button on the posts you want to respond to, when you're done, click on New Reply. In your reply, you will see each post that you multi-quoted. Hope that helps. Talk to ya soon.

It's all good. Get it out. You feel much better now, don't you??? Don't they (customer svc/businesses) crack you up? Why do they think we're idiots? That's right. You march right in there tomorrow and prove them the a$$es they are. :yell: Hahaha!!! We'll see who laughs last! :eyebrows:

Yes m'am. We got it! )

Welcome NDPrarieLover and KC1228! This is an awesome group of people. I hope you feel at home here.
-
Hey! I'm doing good. We definitely miss you. I know all about staff problems. No fun. Sometimes adults act like little kids at times. At times, you're more of a babysitter than a supervisor! I hear ya about not being a chat room/online talk type person b/c I wasn't, either. And look at us now!!! How are you doing? Are things going well band/healthwise??? How bout Annafrancesca? Adam?
-
Me!!! I'm here.

Here's the most recent copy of our calendar. I hope it still prints out okay. It was looking kinda funny when I viewed it on-screen. Phyllser, I think the UTI is starting to wear down. I've been taking my med, drinking water and cranberry juice like crazy. July 2007 Bandsters.doc

Does anyone suffer from Bipolar or mental illness?
chimboree26 replied to own's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Depression and anxiety here. And I was approved, as well. I even had to do a psychiatric consult (standard requirement by my surgeon) and my psychiatrists thinks I am fine and certainly more than able to handle this major lifestyle change. We wish you the best. I don't think you should have a problem. -
Welcome Rainer! Congratulations on being banded. You're officially a Lucky 7! No need to be afraid of this forum. There are a lot of great people, info, and advice on here...especially this thread (sorry...I'm a little biased, I know. ) This is an awesome group of people. Just jump right in. That is great that you've lost 11 lbs already!!! And your hubby 70ish lbs. So encouraging.

Hey ya'll! How's everyone doing? Gladster, I know what you mean about the dating scene. I'm single, as well, and I really believe this surgery will help open a few more doors. I do get some attention now at my current wt, but it's certainly not like it was before I gained it. I honestly believe Mr. Right is around the corner for me. Until then, I will just continue to focus on improving me. JDHJ861jr, you're officially on the Loser's Bench. Congratulations! Glad to know you're doing so well! Welcome back. Dmtjet, oh my goodness. How scary was that? I certainly hope e'thing is okay. Question, have you been sleeping in a recliner? If so, you may want to stop b/c I was told (by someone at the doctor's office...)a recliner is the worst position to sleep in b/c it can help contribute to blood clots. I was going to get a recliner for my recovery, but was told not to. Apparently, the position doesn't allow for great circulation. Just a little tidbit for everyone. Lynette and Frustrated, I pray to find that kind of relationship. Like I said before, I believe it's just around the corner. Dini, there you are. We missed you. Tell your bro to mind his own business. You're an adult and you made this decision for you (and your daughter), not him. Tell him to get over it. Constipation problems? From what I understand, pain meds will cause constipation, so I wouldn't be too concerned that s'thing is really wrong. Maybe take some laxative/stool softener/prune juice and that should help.

Congrats JennifernAZ!!! Glad to know you're doing well. Sleep tight. Check back in tomorrow and let us know how you're doing.
-
To be honest, I don't care where we go b/c I know we'll have fun...but the Greek Isles sounds really exotic...I like that.
-
Sunshine, glad things are going great! You're welcome for the PowerPoint. I am currently on Macrobid 2x/day, so hopefully this will knock it out. My stomach is still a bit bloated and tender, so I'm praying this med is doing s'thing. It's gotta go. I'm 13 days away! BTW, I was cracking up about your response to IcyBreeze about twisting the docs goodies and pain meds. :heh::heh::heh:
-
Felicia, yay! You're back home. Sounds like you're doing well, too. This is so wonderful. This gives me even more courage about my own surgery. Sheelagh, welcome! Another Irish friend. Our other Irish buddy, Dini, hasn't posted this evening (unless I've missed it.). This is a great group. (very active one, too!)
-
AshRae, wow, you're own in-home nurse! That has to be nice.:biggrin1: Great Sunnysunshine! We will update the calendar for you! Forgve, glad to hear you're doing well. It seems our whole gang is doing great so far. Trystelle, you know we'll be praying for ya! I'm sure you are well-prepared and will do just fine. Lindaa, i agree. Only a fool keeps trying what doesn't work. I already posted earlier (I think in my post to Peaches) my feelings about the 'easy way out' mentality. I think people who say this are speaking out of ignorance...and I just let them continue in their ignorance (unless I really think they would be receptive to the facts). Lynette, you do have 2 cuties!!! And I like you're new pic, too. Anyone heard from Breadlady??? How bout Dini?
-
Peaches, I am right there w/you on this. I see it just as your doc said...I think of it as similar to a pacemaker--an implant designed to improve health--just like our trusty bands. And I know about the stigma of mental illness. I, too, suffer from depression and anxiety. When I do tell people, they are amazed. They are surprised b/c I don't 'look' like someone w/a mental illness. Give me a break. Although mental illness isn't as stigmatized as it once was, it's definitely still there. Especially in the Black community. From family members, I always hear, "You don't need that stuff (medication/counseling)." They wouldn't say that to another family member that takes meds for diabetes or cancer, so...but I've come so far and don't care what anyone says anymore about that. Guess it will be the same for me w/the Band. Just remember, people are gonna have s'thing to say no matter what--whether we're fat/overweight, or losing wt while banded. So...just ignore them. I know it's easier said than done.

What in the world??? Why didn't he give you any pain meds for home? What was his reasoning?
