Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!

Hey Ladies! Remember me??? Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Glad to see everyone is doing so well. Well, guess who's scheduled for banding Feb 23??? Yep, me! If you don't remember, I got pregnant, took prenatal vitamins that made me puke like crazy, making my band slip. We had it removed w/the intention of having it replaced. Well, I had to wait 6 months post-baby. Then, I get hurt playing softball (7/13). Tore my meniscus and had bone bruising. While waiting for knee surgery, a blood clot formed behind my knee. That postponed surgery, and I was started on blood thinners. I just had my knees surgery last Thursday (12/23). My original LapBand surgery was 1/13/11, but my surgeon wanted to wait a little longer to make sure another clot didn't form from the knee surgery. I'm doing great w/my recovery and will be going back to work tomorrow. My little one is 14 months old now and doing great! My boyfriend is awesome and has been a real trooper through all of this. I miss my band TREMENDOUSLY and can't wait to get it back. I am so freakin disappointed because I am 300lbs! Yuck. I hate even typing that. Before I got prego, I was down to 203lbs. I had lost 86lbs. But, I know I can do it again and I will. So, you may be seeing me again around here. I miss the friendships and support I found here!

    Miss my band

Me, too. I was banded 7/07 and was doing great. Had lost 80 lbs and was still losing...then I got pregnant. Had my band unfilled, then starting puking like crazy thanks to the prenatal Vitamins. Band slipped and I had it removed. I loved my band...it worked well for me. I want it back, butttt...now, I work for a new company and our insurance doesn't cover WLS. :mad2:( Great. So, I don't know what I'm gonna do now.

    Christian bandsters

All, Please pray for my baby. I am 16 weeks pregnant and just had to have surgery (on Tuesday) to remove my band. Long story short, I had beyond extreme morning sickness and it caused my band to slip. Was admitted last Thurs night/Fri morning. Just came home yesterday. My little baby has been exposed to anesthesia and pain med. Although the docs tried to use stuff that is 'safer', still, I feel so bad that I had to put my baby through this. I am so worried that some damage has been done. Please pray that God did have His hand on my baby and protected him/her from all of this. And also pray that I don't let the guilt eat at me. I know the surgery had to be done, but still. Thank you all!!!

  5. Thank you for your well wishes. I'm still moving slow...I have the 5 incisions, just like when they put the band in. Haven't taken any pain meds today. I can't help but feel a little guilty for putting the baby through all of this...all the anesthesia, pain medication, etc. I know they had to take the band out, but I still have that guilt. I just pray that the baby wasn't harmed during this. I would have a real hard time forgiving myself if something did happen. I just have to trust God. I wish I didn't have to lose my band, but it was for the best. I've lost 80 lbs and believe I have truly made the lifestyle changes necessary to not gain the weight back. Since I had my band unfilled, I only gained 3 lbs, so I was doing pretty well. Oh well. Such is life, right? To be honest, I don't think I'll have the band put back in after the baby's born.

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Hey All, Just wanted to update ya'll. Well, I'm just getting home from the hospital. I recently started w/some bouts of nasty nausea and vomiting...unfortunately mine got much worse. All last week, I was puking. Thursday night/Friday morning (around 2:30 am), I started vomiting up black, tarry, coffee-grind like stuff. I was like whoa. We've gotta go to the ER ASAP. Sooo, my Lap-Band doc is about 2 hrs away (in Northern VA). So we drove to the hospital there--the local hospitals aren't experienced w/the Band. They did admit me Friday morning. They said I had hyperemesis gravidarum (basically extreme/debilitating nausea and vomiting, beyond the normal morning sickness...leads to dehydration, malnutrition, etc). Also, I knew my band had slipped. With as much puking going on, it couldn't help but slip. They did x-ray and it definitely slipped. They wanted to observe me over the weekend before doing surgery. Of course, surgery was the absolute last resort (I'm 16 weeks.). So yesterday around 3:30pm, they removed my band. All went well and the baby is still going strong, so that's good. I'm still a bit groggy right now, but wanted to share w/ya'll. I'll pop back in probably tomorrow.
  7. Hey All, Just wanted to update ya'll. Well, I'm just getting home from the hospital. My earlier posts were about nausea and vomiting, well, unfortunately mine got much worse. 8. Congratulations, Sasha! Like you, I had my band completely unfilled when I found out. I just told myself, just keep eating the way you've learned and e'thing will be okay. And it has. To be honest, I've only gained 2 lbs so far, since being unfilled. So, just stick to the plan and you'll be okay. I feel for you w/the nausea. I've only been dealing w/this for 1 1/2 weeks. And I'm hoping it will go away. The only thing I had early one was dizziness and breast tenderness, but both of those have gone away. I'm terrified of slipping my band. And I sure hope your nausea goes away soon. No fun at all. Best wishes to you!!
  9. Heather and Fairy, Thanks for the responses! Yes, I've definitely noticed that my stomach is more settled after I eat carbs...toasted bread, crackers, noodles. So, I think I will try to make sure I keep plenty on hand. It's kinda weird b/c for us bandsters, the bread used to cause so many problems (getting stuck, etc.). My OB did prescribe Phenergan for nausea. It does work, but it causes drowsiness, so I have to be careful when I take it...I'll ask about that dissolving tablet you're talking about, Fairy. And yep, I did start taking prenatals, but they started the nausea! I didn't have one lick of nausea or upset stomach, until I took them. I even did a little experiment to see if they were causing it and yep, it was them. So now, I'm just taking my regular liquid Centrum multivitamin. OB said that was fine. Hopefully all of this will pass! If not, then I'll just have to deal.
  10. Hi All! I hope e'thing is going well. I am 15 weeks and had escaped nausea and vomiting, so far. But...just this past week, I've started and I can't take it! And as us bandsters know, when we vomit, it causes swelling and makes it hard to get anything down. I am completely unfilled (got unfilled when I found out I was preg...b/c I was already extremely tight). I am having such a hard time right now. I'm worried b/c I don't want the baby to not get what he/she needs b/c I can't eat. My OB gave me Phenergan to take to get rid of the nausea. Some days I can eat just fine, other days I have to do soup. My stomach is so sore from all the puking...like someone has kicked me in the stomach. This is driving me nuts. Has anyone else had this problem so far? And what have you done?

Burn your baby's eyes out?!?! WTH??? LOL. Ppl come up w/all kinds of stuff. I don't mind the advice at all. It's kinda like w/the LapBand...some ppl would offer advice, but you just smile and nod and let it go in one ear and out the other. I just kinda evaluate what they say and go from there. But I've already heard a lot of interesting stuff...this is gonna be a long haul. All I ask is that ya'll don't laugh too hard at me! Have a good night. I'm going to kick my feet up for a bit.

Thank you so much, Janet. Everyone has been so excited for me...now that the shock has worn off. Yeah, I'm definitely NOT going to go crazy w/the eating. I'm still doing great and plan on sticking w/my plan. But I really am starting to show. Stop laughing! I have some pics here of my October Mommies-to-Be friends (from another website). They're all at 7 weeks. Some of them are showing, some aren't. I haven't posted mine, yet...still a lil self-conscious w/my surgery scars (lapband and gallbladder)... And yes, I'm definitely trying to get all the rest and 'me time' that I can...things are about to change drastically (but in a good way). I promise I won't bore you guys w/the baby stuff. I have the Pregnant & Banded thread for that. But thanks for listening!!!
  13. Lol. It does make you wonder, huh? I know I'm wanting something right now to eat...stomach is really growling...loudly...

Thank you Kirajh! I am so excited. Yes, TOM does suck...but I won't be seeing one for quite a while. I really do crave a lot of chocolate during that time. Usually M&Ms or brownies. I would love some brownies right now... Candice, I am soooo jealous!!!! I have been wanting to go to France for the longest! I took French all throughout high school and part of college. That is so neat. Tell your hubby congrats. And that quilt looked great. You are good. I'm learning how to knit and am working on a scarf. It's actually very relaxing. Karri, have fun in Vegas. Never been, but will probably be heading out there some time this year. We'll see. Aunti Phyl, I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Just get some good rest, lots of fluids, and chix noodle soup. I know I get so annoyed and aggravated when I get sick. Mucinex is my friend. Janet, you're doing great. The lbs are just falling off, huh? You crack me up w/all of your shopping excursions. That soooo used to be me. I had to cut myself back b/c I was getting pretty bad. But nowwwww, I will have to get new clothes b/c of the pregnancy. I've already picked out a dress from A Pea In the Pod for a summer wedding I have to attend. Pregnancy Update: I'm 7 weeks now. I'm doing pretty well. No morning sickness (M/S) *knock on wood*. I've just been dealing w/dizziness and swelling of the boobs and legs/feet. I have to get new bras already! And I'm already starting to show some. Pants are getting snugger-definitely don't like that feeling, but it's okay. It's just playing w/my mind a little bit. I have to keep telling myself it's just the pregnancy and not me going overboard. Other than that, all is well! Just excited about it all and waiting for the lil pumpkin to get here.
  15. Claireycurtis, Congratulations! I, too, had a complete unfill. This is my first pregnancy, but I know what you mean about the fear of blowing back up. When I had my unfill, I met w/my dietician and we discussed my plan of attack. It's not much different from what I've been doing. Eating only when I'm hungry, eating healthy choices, and just not overdoing it. I know it's easier said than done, but that's what will prevent us from going overboard. And my dietician said I only need to consume an additional 250 - 300 calories/day now that I'm pregnant. Oh and keep up w/your exercise. Hopefully, this helps. Just stick around here w/us and we'll work it out together!!
  16. MMM,congratulations...on your banding and the new grandbaby to be! Hope you're doing well w/your recovery.
  17. Thank you guys. It's still sinking in that I really am pregnant. I got an unfill on Friday (b/c I was getting tight and having heartburn) and met w/the dietcian. All is well now. Just having dizzy spells...no fun at all. I will certainly keep ya'll posted!

    Haircare and Excercise Regimen

Hey ladies, I usually keep mine wrapped or pin curled. I don't dare take it out before my workout. I usually work out in the morning, so that makes it easy. If I have to work out in the evening, I definitely wrap it and I'm usually fine. I usually get my hair washed and set/wrapped once a week.

One other thing and I promise to stop w/the billion and one posts! I had to have my gallbladder taken out in December (12/19). For a couple months, I was having really bad abdominal pain. All the tests were coming back negative. I insisted on being admitted to the hospital. I told my doc I didn't want to go home. My surgeon finally agreed and off I went to the hospital (straight from his office). Again, all the tests said I was fine. Yeah right. I was admitted on a Thursday. Surgery was done on a Saturday and I went home Sunday evening. I am soooo much better off. I knew that significant wt loss will cause your gallbladder to act up. After they took it out, they saw that it was inflamed and irritated. Ha. I was right. I have been fine ever since. Moral of the story: Listen to your body and be an advocate for yourself. Gnite ladies!!!
  20. Well congrats to you w/your new bundle. I hope all is going well for you and your new family!

Aunti Phyll - You look great, too. Everyone seems to be doing so well.
