Yes! The hunger is no fun. It has just started for me. It's been weird b/c I haven't been hungry, but tonight, boy it kicked in. I hear you about the Cheetos. I was in Target tonight and I was like, 'Hmmm...if I got the puffy kind, I could let them kinda melt and get mushy...' Then I came back to reality and continued on. Man. Oh the food demons are out. But you know what??? They aren't gonna win. No way. No how. Oh it's on.

Welcome back! We've missed you. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. I'm jealous! I can't wait until I'm past these liquid/mushy phases. I know they're for healing purposes, but man. I will be doing the same as you, just making healthy, well-balanced choices. I know that's how I was meant to live, so that's what I'm striving for.

I know, it's so weird. I was fine and then bam! The hunger hit. I was like, 'Whoa. Where is this coming from'??? Soooo, I gave in and ate a few spoonfuls. :nervous I hope this isn't the beginning of Bandster Hell!!! AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!:omg:

Hey Dini Girl! I'm doing really well. My stomach is still sore, especially the port incision, but I just keep an ice pack on it and that really helps a lot! I only bought a few pair of pants to wear to work b/c my current pants aren't going to fit comfortably w/all this swelling. I got a few shirts, too, just so they're not clingy to the 'pregnancy' belly! I can't wait till this swelling goes down. I'm still walking trying to work this gas out. That was really sweet of your bro to get you that cake and your b-day present. You'll have to let us know what it was!

Hey gang! I am STARVING!!!! I have to admit, I just had a few spoonfuls of ice cream--and it wasn't fat free!!! Sorry!!! But my stomach has been growling like crazy. So, I just ate an applesauce cup and now I am all better. Wished I had eaten the applesauce first, but now I see what happens in a moment of weakness! Prevention and planning is the key for the future. I'm still here at my parents' house, so at my house, I don't have any tempting foods. Today was a kinda busy day for me. I went w/a friend shopping. She didn't realize that I could get around as well. She thought I'd be walking really slow. Of course I was moving slower than usual, but faster than what she expected. Anyhow...I'm just blabbing on, huh? I just had to share w/you guys how hungry I was and what I did *bad girl*. That was a first for me. I've been drinking my protein shakes and water all day. But now that I think about it, I have slacked off on the drinking these last couple of hours. Maybe that was the hunger trigger...

Finding it hard to get all my protein in each day

Hi Christy. Have you tried adding unflavored protein powder to your soups? That should help you get a bit more protein in. I am having this same problem. I am getting about 50g/day. I've been drinking my protein shake (Muscle Milk - 34/g) and adding a scoop of unflavored protein powder to my soups, Cream of Wheat, etc. I will be talking to my dietician tomorrow about this to see what else I can do.

Gmorn Sunny and CeCe! I hear you about the head hunger. It is so weird that we only get full off a few ozs! The other day, I wanted to eat a big ol burger from Wendy's. That was really weird b/c it just came outta no where. I wasn't even really thinking about food - at least consciously...But, I continued to sip on my Muscle Milk and got through it. I slept well last night. I got up once around 6am, took a pain pill, checked on here, then went back to bed. I slept really well after that.

Welcome Sarujah! This is the best group of folks! Wow. You are a ways away from us, but that's okay. We're here for you! I know this was the best decision I have made for myself so far. I am thrilled and excited to have started a new life! Just ask away. Tell us a little about yourself. And of course we accept you! Why wouldn't we?
  9. I was banded on 7/25 and e'thing went very well. But post-op, I discovered a blood vessel that burst in my right eye. I called the nurse and then she called anesthesia. A nurse anesthetist came up to look at me. He thinks it may have come from the change in blood pressure from the anesthesia. Anyone else have this problem? And if so, how long did it take for it to go away? Mine is pretty big and very, very obvious. My vision isn't affected, but it looks horrible. Sometimes I feel a bit of pressure on that side of my head/eye and a slight headache. If it doesn't clear up soon, I'm gonna call my doc again about it. (He's already aware and said that it's normal.)

    Busted Eye Blood Vessel

I know. My doc said the body should absorb the blood and it'll go away. Sunglasses it will be until then! Thanks!
  11. I was banded on 7/25. I didn't have a hernia, but know that if one was discovered, my doc would've repaired it while he was in there. I know there are several folks on here who have had their hernias repaired during their LapBand surgeries. As for how they diagnose/discover it, I'm not sure. Probably during your pre-op barium swallow. You'd have to ask your doc about that one. Sorry!

Kristin, that sounds soooo good. Still just full liquids for me right now. But I'm doing okay w/it. Sunny, good for you--taking it easy. We have to listen to our bods. They know what's best when we're recovering. I took it easy today, myself. Tomorrow will be more of the same. Reconciler, sorry bout your husband's knee. Glad you're back! I'm sure this time has been a bit rough for both of you. No exercise here, other than walking. I can't wait, though. Who thought I'd ever be saying that one??? And congrats on the wt loss. I haven't weighed myself yet. Gnite everyone. I just took some pain med and I know it will start kicking in shortly. I will check in w/ya'll tomorrow!

Happy Birthday!!!! If I were there, I would sing to you! :note::note: Hope you are having a wonderful one! I hear you about the soul searching. I think we're both in the same spot...big decisions to make here over the next several weeks, but it's all good. We'll do what's right! Here's a birthday rose for you!

    Exercise after Banding

I'm doing really well. Of course, my stomach is sore, but I've been putting my ice pack on it and that really helps. I've been very active and moving around a lot, so I think that has helped prevent the gas problems. I got to take a shower today, so I was soooo excited about that!!! I am a side sleeper, so I was scared I wouldn't be able to sleep well...but I can kinda sleep on my side w/o pain, so that works.
  15. chimboree26

    Burping?

I was banded on 7/25 and my stomach has been talking to me a lot. Nothing painful, but I definitely can hear it. No need to worry. It's normal! Don't you love LBT just for this reason? You can ask questions at almost anytime of day and get responses to calm you down (or spur you to action if necessary).
  16. chimboree26

    Exercise after Banding

Yep. My doc said that for the first month, I could only walk. No lifting or strenuous exercise. After a month, I should be okay to move on to other forms of exercise. I'm sure we'll know for sure once I go in for my follow-up closer to a month out. (I do have my one-week follow-up this coming Thursday, 8/2.)

IndioGirl, I hear ya. One day at a time. I know that we're all gonna do really well w/this. The doc said I can only walk for the first month. After that, then we'll see about going to more vigorous exercises. 1Bgwdy, welcome! Congrats on your banding. This is a great group. Feel free to jump in. Ribearty, glad you're back! I know the pain and soreness will pass. Last night at 3am, I had to take some of my pain med b/c I was that uncomfortable and couldn't go back to sleep. I feel that the meds are there to help, so take 'em. No sense in trying to tough it out. Forgve, I had heparin shots, which I hated. But I don't think it changed my tastebuds...at least I haven't noticed. But then again, I'm not eating too much LOL. Just my Muscle Milk, water, Cream of Wheat, and my soups.

Wow. I'm jealous. 2 weeks off sounds great!!! Wal-mart sounds like a great plan for walking. I have to go for my follow-up on Thursday. Even w/this soreness, I am so excited about my Band! Bandolina is here! Yay!

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Yes, I'm still at my parents' house. It does make a major difference. I can't imagine having just gone home by myself. I did enjoy my shower. It was great!!!! I was so happy and feel so much better just from that. Thanks for the encouragement. Today will be a much slower day than yesterday. I will be definitely taking it easy. Stomach is still sore. I have an ice pack that helps. For me, I find the most difficult part is getting in and out of the bed/and or the car. We use our ab muscles for a lot, huh???

I know. I wish I could take more days off, but to be honest, I can't afford to. I think I'll be okay, though. I have a desk job and don't have to move around a bunch or lift anything. Sooo...we'll see. If I have to leave early, then I will. I won't force myself to stay if I'm uncomfortable. Health and safety first, right???

Good morning Sunny and JennyL! I hear ya about the soreness. That's the worst part for me, unless I drink too much and get the uncomfortable feeling in the center of my chest. I've learned to slow down, so hopefully I've nipped that in the bud. Yes, m'am Sunny, I will be updating our calendar. I hope to get us a new one tomorrow. I'll be going back to work on Monday. Booo...I don't want to go, but just b/c I don't like my job too much. I should be fine, pain/surgery wise. Well, I'm off to go take my shower and then to eat my breakfast. Cream of Wheat this morning. Later gators!

Good morning gang! I am up a bit early. Last night (or this morning) at 3am, I got up, took a pain pill--I'm on Dilaudid. It really helped. I don't get groggy from it, just relaxed and the pain goes away. I also finished off a Muscle Milk that I had. Today will be a milder day compared to yesterday. I really intend on just relaxing a bit. I actually get to take a shower today, too. Yeah! Now I can get this sticky stuff off from the IV bandages. Aunt Flo kicked into overdrive during my hospital stay. I'm sure the heparin shots had a lot to do w/that. It was just a bit yucky. But I managed. Everyone seems to be doing well, even w/all our aches and pains. That is so great!!! Well, I'll check back later.
