Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Lynette, Shannon, and Mango - Have a great first day back at work. I'm sure it will go well! Let us know how things turn out. Gnite Lynette! :notagree I'm about to turn in myself. We're having a storm here right now, so I need to turn the computer off. My dad would kill me if s'thing happened to it! :omg:

Laurend, I'm sure you'll be GLAD when that AC is cranking again. I don't do well in the heat at all. Lynette, yeah! The first day back at work. Pink & Whites, huh? Go sexy lady!!! LOL. And those pants will be falling off, just like Auntie Phyll's before you know it!! HAHAHAAAA! As for the eggs, I'm going to make an egg casserole and have it for the next few days. Then, all I have to do is slice a square, heat it up, and I'm good to go. Dmtjet, Paula Deen is awesome. I, too, watch the Food Network...what torture at times. I didn't watch as much during my liquid phase, though. She makes good (not always healthy, but good), down home, Southern style food. Yum, yum, yum. You have to check her out. I love that channel period. Hi Snaggle, Sunny, and everyone else. Just trying to remember that last few folks who posted!

Hey All! How are you? I'm doing well. Doing better w/my mushies. I experimented and didn't drink my protein shakes yesterday or today. It's weird. The hunger isn't here like it has been. I think my protein shakes have too much sugar and that's causing me to be super hungry. I may have to change up. I'll talk to my dietician tomorrow and we'll see. I've been eating tuna like crazy. So weird b/c I used to hate tuna fish. It's so filling for me. My breakfast is great, too. I usually eat scrambled eggs w/a little cheese. I eat about 2 tablespoons and I'm satisfied. It holds me for several hours.

    Banded 17 days & anxiety

So wise. I had to LOL at that one! There are many, many times I feel like a complete idiot, but hey, we live and learn, right??? But thank you!

    Banded 17 days & anxiety

No need to stress yourself out. This is normal. We have just gone through a major, life-changing surgery. I think you should view some of the anxiety as a positive, in that it reminds us that this is s'thing not to be taken lightly. Not sure if I just made sense there... I was recently banded (7/25) and I've had those thoughts pass through my mind, as well. You're not alone. Just try not to let the anxious thoughts overwhelm you. I know...easier said than done. Turn your thoughts elsewhere. Focus on healing and adjusting to your new life. You have taken a huge step towards health and a better you. As for the machine, I understand that takes some time getting used to. Maybe try a different style mask. If it were me, I'd chuck the machine just for a few days, then go back to it. And remember, give yourself time. This is all so new to us. You can do this! Also, check this thread out. It may help. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/increased-depression-anxiety-after-surgery-15872/

    Scared to eat!

I haven't gotten stuck, yet, and pray that I never do...but, let's be real here. I'm gonna have the band for life and I'm sure somewhere along the way, s'thing will get stuck. Just do a search on PBing (productive burping). This happens when s'thing gets stuck and then it comes back up. Just remember, follow the Bandster rules. No drinking w/meals, small bites, chewing very, very well, and eating slowly. You should be okay. I ate today for the first time in a restaurant and I was fine...b/c I followed the rules. I believe that eventually, the rules will become 2nd nature and we won't have to think about them. Also, it would be great to have some Papaya Enzyme on hand. This helps if s'thing does get stuck. It aids in digestion. My dietician told me about this. Hope this helps!
  9. I do agree that there is a period of 'getting to know your band'. And every single banded person has to go through it. PBing may happen, but it may not. But, this is s'thing to be expected w/the band. I knew all about what discomforts/complications to expect pre-banding. I tore this site apart gaining info. I'm sorry that you felt as if no one spoke about. I'm all about keepin it real. But, I disagree w/you in that no one mentioned the things you're experiencing. I certainly hope things are getting better for you. Hopefully some of your swelling has gone down and you can keep more than Soup down. Feel free to PM me.
  10. Yes, the original post took me aback a little, but it's all good. That's what we're here for, right? Another happy ending here at LBT! LOL

    Which vitamin?

I haven't had a headache, yet, since being banded, but if/when I do get one, I can take Tylenol if needed. The regular pills are fine for me, but I don't have much restriction. There's also liquid Tylenol available. As for the liquid Multivitamin, I got it from my doc's office.

Hey Sunny!!! How are ya today? Jackie, congrats on the awesome wt loss. Our groups is doing awesome! Kathy, I am thrilled that you and your DH get to go away. I like the gift certificate idea. Wrangler, congrats to you, too, w/the wt loss!!! And you go girl and work that bike! I'm heading to bed. I'm exhausted from the day. Gnite everyone!!!:notagree

I was SUPER happy w/it! I woke up in recovery smiling. I would do that again in a heartbeat. It hurt MUCH more than the band. I was out for 6 weeks. Just b/c you cannot, cannot, cannot lift anything. My doc did lipo under my armpits. To be honest, that hurt worse than my incisions. Of course, you know me, I had surgery on a Monday and I was driving on Thursday. Bad move. I was okay until I had to turn into Wal-mart. That hurt like the dickens! I just can't sit still and recover like most normal people! LOL!
  14. If this is true, you should get a slight unfill. You should be able to get more down than just soup/liquids. I'm glad you're happy w/your band, but I disagree that these facts aren't mentioned. I've been on this site for a few months now. It was a huge help during my research phase. I'm banded now and I feel it's b/c of this website that I was as informed and educated about this whole process. I'm sorry that you're just finding out some of this stuff. Just continue to poke around the site and you'll learn even more.

Yay! You're doing much better. Today was my turn. I only worked 1/2 day tonight. I was worn out from the drive to my doc's office. I've just been relaxing and feel wonderful already.

Only4Me, glad to hear you're doing so well! It gets easier each day. And I agree w/Kathy & Lynette, I'd do the protein drink, first. Once your swelling goes down, you will gradually be able to get more liquids in. Just keep listening to your body. LOL! I, too, have a rather large chest, even after a reduction. I was a 48F before my surgery. Now, I'm a 42D. Still a little hefty. But Icy, you can have some of mine, too! Cazulay, I feel you. That was me. I know it's rough. Just try to mix it up as much as possible--fruit in your smoothies, thicker soups, and more protein. You can do it!!

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Hi Shannon and welcome! The difference is in the amount/volume each band balloon can hold. And some people have larger stomachs than others...so the docs decide which one to use once he/she gets in during surgery. Hope that helps!

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Hello gang! I had my first post-op appt today. It went really well. My doc said all is looking great. He moved me to purees/mushies. Thank the Lord! I have lost 11lbs so far! Yay!!!!!!!! In one week! Yay!!!!!!!!! I am very tired. I spent 4 hrs on the road, roundtrip to my doc's office. At one point, I started to hurt and almost pulled over to lay my seat out for a minute. I made it home okay, though. I went to lie down for a few before I had to come into work. I will be leaving here 1/2 day today b/c that drive took a lot out of me. Sounds like everyone is doing so well!

Welcome SSankofa73! Welcome to Bandland and the Lucky 7's! How are you doing so far? And yes, I can't wait to buy new clothes w/the $ I save from food! LOL!

    Question (a bit TMI!)

I also agree w/the others about drinking more Water. I know that if I'm not drinking enough, my urine will be a bit darker yellow, but never orange. It's usually pretty light yellow to almost clear (talk about TMI). I've just never seen orange before. That's what made me think it was a med or s'thing. Let us know what the doc says. I'm curious.

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Congrats Donna, on both your banding and your wt loss! Just take it easy and it gets better day by day. Sip, walk, and rest. That's the name of the game! Caolin, sounds like you're doing really well! Yes, the walking works wonders. And yes, the tomato soup was my first glorious moment post-op! LOL! It tasted sooooo good! IndioGirl, of course you're doing well! No question about that. I want some of those mashed potatoes, but don't have any at home. I'm doing my mushy shopping tomorrow. I, too, hate jello, pudding, and yogurt, so I'm pretty limited on this liquids deal. I don't care for Cream of Wheat, either, but I have to eat s'thing, right??? Mushies are getting closer and closer!!! Chris, we are so glad you're back!!! You are on the Loser's Bench w/us now! Sorry 'bout that catheter bit. Sounds a bit painful. :cry And yes, the moving definitely helps ward off more pain. Weird, huh? Sounds like you had a wonderful hospital experience, too. That makes a huge difference, as well! We are so happy that we were able to help make your journey a little easier! Hey to Lynette, Dini, Sunny, Jeannie, Kathy, Marcy, and everyone else that I can't think of right now!

    Which vitamin?

For me, I'm taking Liquid Centrum (multivitamin), B12 sublingual dots, and Citracal (the yummy chocolate kind). And if/when I get stuck (haven't yet--only on liquids), I have Papaya enzyme.
  23. chimboree26

    Question (a bit TMI!)

I'm sorry Bloo. I'm not sure what could be causing this. Maybe it was s'thing (one of the meds) given to you in the hospital??? I would just call my doc and ask...just to be on the safe side.

    Night Before Freak Out

Nana, first - stop and take a deep breath. Now, take a moment and think about why you're having this surgery in the first place. You want to live a healthier life. You want to be around for your family and friends. And honestly, do you want your life to continue as it is? I know I didn't and that's why I made my decision to get banded. Just re-focus on your whys...health, family, etc...and that should definitely help you calm down a bit. We wish you the best and we're here for you!

I'm not allowed those, yet. Those are considered mushies...I'm still on full liquids, so it's the soups, Cream of Wheat, and drumroll....protein shakes. I am so flippin tired of these liquids!!! I can't wait until tomorrow. MushyLand, here I come.
