SSanka, go you on the walking! It gets easier!!! I've been doing really well w/my walking, too. I've been going to the gym. I feel great! Sarujah, I wouldn't get another fill. If you're having problems getting things/keeping things down, you don't need any additional restriction. If you're still having problems after a few days, I'd consider getting a slight unfill. And like the others said, papaya enzyme helps w/digestion. My dietician gave me some, in case s'thing gets stuck. Dini, my love!!!! We have missed you. Don't work too hard!!! Sent you a PM. Icy, glad to hear from you, too!

Name one thing people would be surprised to know about you
chimboree26 replied to Sunta's topic in The Lounge
How weird. I have 2 younger sisters (twins) and all 3 of us were due on the same day (Nov 1), but we came early - them on Oct 24 and me on Oct 26. -
Hey Snaggle, CC, and Frustrated! I have a loud stomach, now, too. It seems to always be making some sound, but esp. if it's time to eat.

Okay, here goes: I'm a Christian. I love the Lord and I love people right where they are. I have a blue-green mole on my ankle. Everything triggers a song w/me (drives my friends nuts!). I love cartoons, especially Scooby-Doo and Jem & the Holograms. I struggle w/depression and anxiety. -
Hi ImFine! I'm so jealous...you got a fill! Sounds like you're doing very well! Where's Dini??? Breadlady??? TanzyCoffeeLady??? Felicia???
-
Yes, they're the same...at least according to my dietician. And LapBandit is right. Our stomachs need to form the adhesions that are gonna hold our bands in place for life. When we chew, the stomach starts to churn even before food reaches it. So, the liquid and mushy/puree phases allow our scar tissue/adhesions to form. Hope this helps! We wish you the best!

Hi Lindaa and SSanka!!! How's it going?

Lynette, sweetie, don't feel bad! You haven't failed Hunter at all! I'm sorry, but I don't know too many 3 year olds that know how to use scissors or catch a bean bag!!!! Goodness gracious. It really does seem that they're expecting a little much. Kicking a ball I can see, but that other stuff...I'm sure Hunter is bright and doing just fine. Seems the pre-school's testing is a bit much, if you ask me. Please don't beat yourselves up. I know you and your DH are doing an awesome job w/Hunter! Let us know how Thursday goes. Seems like many of us are having downer days today. :cry
-
Sunny, I'm sorry about your doggie. :cry I don't have any pets, but I can imagine how you're feeling. At least she's not hurting now, you know? You'll feel better w/time. HUGS to you!!!! Hey Lynette, Marcy, Kathybad, Sarujah, Jeanie, Dini and all the other Lucky 7s!!! I miss you guys so much!!!! I have my 2nd post-op appt on Thursday. I will be moving to solids! Yay!!! Not sure what my first 'legal' solid meal will be. Any suggestions? BTW, I still want a fill really bad. I have absolutely no restriction, still.

Welcome ImFine and Car! This is the best group of people!!! We're glad you're here!

Me, too. I had a horrible weekend, food-wise. The worst, yet. I ate bad stuff (pizza and a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant) and didn't exercise, either. I didn't drink any of my protein drinks, either. I was so disappointed in myself. Like you, I didn't eat what I would've pre-band, but still...But, I just gotta get back up. I just hope I didn't do any damage! :car:

Hey gang! I've missed ya'll! I've been super busy this past weekend and didn't get a chance to check in and say hello! I hope all is going well. I have a little catching up to do. I called my doc's office today to ask about fills. I have my 2nd post-op appt on Thursday. My doc doesn't fill until 8 weeks post-op!!!!!!:car: I am starving. On Thursday, I'm meeting w/my dietician, too. They're s'posed to move me to solids. I'll actually get to chew!!! Yay!!!

Help! I cheated today during post op...
chimboree26 replied to Susan70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ABSOLUTELY!!!!! I am w/you. I am starving right now. I'm thinking about all kinds of food right now. I can't take this. I want s'thing to eat so freaking bad. I'm thinking Taco Bell is open...hmm... -
WasA, first of all, how awesome is that?!?!?! You didn't recognize yourself! You are doing so well. But, don't beat yourself up. It will take time to break free of our old ways, including how we see ourselves. It's almost like we've been wearing a mask for all these years, or been in a cocoon. And now, we're emerging butterflies. We're still the same people inside (somewhat), but in new packaging. We've just gotta get used to it. Think about when we get a new haircut or new color. It takes us a minute to get used to it, right? No different here. We've gotta get used to our new bodies. Stay positive, remembering all that you have accomplished thus far! This, too, is part of our LB journey. And BTW, you and Jachut are beautiful ladies! I've never seen any pics of you, WasA, but I can tell that both of you are awesome just from your posts. Both of you inspire me soooo much!!!! And congrats, again, to both of you for not recognizing your reflections! That's when you know you have really worked your butts off! Hope this helps, coming from a relative newbie! I can't wait until I have to deal w/this 'problem'!

4 wks post-op and hungry all the time
chimboree26 replied to SweetJephy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
SweetJephy, welcome to Bandster Hell. I am right there w/you. This is the hard part, for me at least. My regular appetite has come back, but I have no restriction. I could honestly eat ANYTHING right now, but so far, I'm doing pretty well. I've been doing my best to hold off and stay in control. Of course, I've slipped up, but...guess what...you dust yourself off and keep moving forward. Just try to keep the hunger at bay by keeping to a schedule, if possible. Also, avoid getting hungry in the first place. I do this by getting plenty of Protein in, both through my meals and my shakes in b/w meals. Hope this helps! I know it's rough, but hang in there. It's temporary. -
12 Days Post Op - Questions?
chimboree26 replied to kero's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey gang! First, congrats on being banded!!! It is an awesome journey. Second, I want to say try not to compare yourselves w/others regarding your recovery. You are doing great listening to your bodies and your docs. Just continue to get up and walk and sip and you'll be fine. Some of us recover very quickly. I am one of those. But, that's just me. It doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong at all. You're gonna feel a bit nauseated and bloated, but that's normal, too. Most likely, the nausea is coming from anesthesia in your system and probably your pain meds. Pain meds will also cause constipation. Also, you may have a prego-looking belly for a couple of weeks, too. I did. Just an FYI. This comes from the gas they blow your stomach up w/during surgery. As for how much to eat (drink), my dietician told me to sip from the moment I woke up until I went to bed. That's pretty much all you can do at this point. I was sipping on my Protein drink, Water, and Crystal Light. I hope this helps!!! -
Help! I cheated today during post op...
chimboree26 replied to Susan70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Goodness gracious. I can't believe you...you are so weak!!!! LOL!!! Just kidding! I've been there and so have many others. I am about 3 weeks out and I know what you're feeling. I remember the first time I ate s'thing other than my mushies. I was terrified that I ruined my band, was gonna cause a slip, etc... First, just relax and don't do it again. Right now, you need to focus on healing. Your band is being held in place by sutures right now. Scar tissue needs to form (adhesions) that will hold your band in place for life. Let that tissue form. When we eat things that require us to chew, our stomach begins to churn. This churning won't allow those adhesions to form. If they don't form, this puts you at a risk for a slip in the future. Soooo...just do your absolute best to stick w/your post-op plan. Think about it...this is a small price to pay for the awesome, healthy future you're going to have! I know it's hard. Trust me. I know. But you CAN and WILL do it! -
Hey gang! Sounds like everyone is doing great! I love it!
-
Hi Dee! Glad you found our thread. I hear you about the self-pay. I pray that your insurance will cover it. I have Carefirst and they did cover. I was so grateful. Like you said, God has a day for you and your surgery. It will come. I was banded 7/25/07 and I love it! I, too, was so sick of being overweight. I knew it was time to do s'thing. I'm almost 30 and I want to be healthy and happy. Praying for you!!!
-
Hey everyone!!! Where have ya'll been??? Has anyone fasted yet, since being banded? I need to fast, but don't know exactly how I'm going to go about it. Any ideas???
-
I have the same exact question, although I'm Christian. I need to fast for a specific concern and want to know if anyone else has done it.
-
And yes, more protein helped me curb some of the hunger, as well.
-
Absolutely. My dietician told me to sip from the moment I woke up, until I went to bed. I drank, Water, Crystal Light, Protein shakes, orange juice, cranberry juice...always make sure it's low in sugar and calories. I'll admit, I did even have a milkshake. Of course, I could only sip 3-4 sips, but it was s'thing a little different. Yes, you are now entering Bandster Hell. I believe Maryland said it. Not a fun time, but we'll get through it. Once you get a fill that provides restriction (your first, or even second fill may not do it), that hunger should subside. Maryland is also right in that this time is for healing. You want that band to get set in place properly. The scar tissue that is forming right now (adhesions) will hold your band in place forever. And BTW, congrats on the wt loss so far!!
