Fill and then sick, don't know where i stand
aussie_jode replied to aussie_jode's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks again for your replies. I am pleased to say that I successfully had a mini lunch today, some curried chicken, peas and mashed spudswith carrots. :hungry: Its all stayed down and i got on my merry way. Yay! I am a little nervy about eating the same thing at night because i had been suffering a bit of reflux, but nothing the last two days, so maybe its linked to the swelling and gastro stuff too. Fingers crossed! -

Thanks for that. I did get some maxalon from the dr and that has helped heaps. I am well on the road to recovery and can consume more and more as the days go on now which is nice. I had a severe bout of gastro, and now DS has it so hoping i don't get it back again! Unfortunately I can't go easily to get a fill or unfill. I live in remote Australia and it is 1600km (1000miles???) to my fill and surgeon. Just trying to get a little advice before I worry about planning a trip back to him. -
Hi everyone, I got a fill two weeks ago, and it was tight, i could feel the swelling for a couple of days, but i could keep fluids down. Then i became very ill and was hospitalised and dehydrated due to gastro and another virus last week. I am still suffering but the dr thinks we could be on top of it all now. What i am worried about is all the vomiting and stuff, not keeping fluids down because of the illness. how might this have affected me and my band? ALso, I am still only on thick fluids and am scared to go beyond that. My throat is sore from all the vomiting. How long should i wait for any swelling to subside before i decide whether my band is too tight, after my illness has passed?:help:

I have just had my first fill in a year and a half! I am SOOOOO glad for it, it has made a huge difference! I was told not to eat lunch (1.30pm app.) and then soft foods for a couple of days. That was on thursday. Yesterday i tested it out a little and i will stick with the soft foods/liquids for a few days. I jsut had some camembert cheese (which i have only recently discovered!) and one and a bit littel pieces is all i can do. It took me quite a while to have a cuppa this morning, but i haven't had a pb yet today, which i did yesterday cos it took me so long to remember what restriction is! LOL I am amazed and disappinted i din't go back sooner. thought i was doing ok, as things did get stuck a little on the odd occasion, but now i realise i was probably over full. I could eat a LOT before this fill, though it wasn't like that at the start. Now i find myself simiilar to what many of you manage, just small amounts and full for ages.:car::clap2:

Pregnant and Banded...come join me!
aussie_jode replied to raynie's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Hi Ladies! Congrats to you all. I had a band baby last May(2006) He is very healthy and happy now, but was a little small at birth. (not REALLY bad, but we had to stay in an extra week till he gained more weight) 6lb 2oz.... Umm I reckon he was small cos i never had an unfill and was sick a lot. But he just coulda been small...all my other pre band babies were nearly 9lb. Anyways, he still breast feeds at this point (much to my apprehension these days) is VERY healthy and even large for his age in stature not mass. Everything went great really. I did gain, but only a 'normal' gain for pregnancy which is a first for me! 3 others i gained more than twice the 'norm' I am still trying to get rid of that baby weight, but i haven't been too regimental about it. Getting stuck into to it this month though as i have had enough! GOod luck to you all and can't wait to see the outcome! -

Thats a great idea! Congrats on your band babies too! I have one myself...=D -
Kellie i have made a very similar post. I too am trying to get sorted out. Chocolate and other carbs being my downfall. I have to say that if i cut these out i wouldn't be on a diet though. I eat TOOO much of it to be a part of healthy eating and therefor cutting it out is just getting healthy again. Today I had my first carb free day which i will continue for another few days till the cravings are gone. I also jumped on the tramp for 10 mins (not much i know but it just baout killed me LOL)which is the kick start to my bandwagon! Hang in there and it will all happen, thats what i am telling myself and it seems to be working. I have been determined to get my act together for a few weeks and finally got back here to LBT and am now on my way. GOODLUCK!

not getting full...and a little worried
aussie_jode replied to contraband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Like the others have said, you have not had a fill and so have little to no restirction. Don't worry yet, just stay healthy and wait for your fill to happen. Congrats too by the way! -
How stict are you with low carb?
aussie_jode replied to aussie_jode's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
:clap2:Thanks so much you guys...thats just what i needed to hear. Support is few and far between for me here and your feed back means a lot! LB i agree that carbs are not the enemey, but right now for me they are...and today i haven't had any processed carbs only a few berries - the rest Protein. I am feeling it now already, but fighting through it. WBB Going without for a few days is exactly what i started this morning. I am like you and the others too no doubt...its all or nothing...I had to get DH to hide the Cookies i baked for the kids yesterday! BLAH I wouldn't have stopped until they were gone! Denise technically there is no room! But I can make chocolate fit i am telling ya! The thing is to control them, and i have taken that step today. Gosh it feels good to just be able to chat about it! Dh thinks i am weird because i have these cravings...he has no idea what i am talking about and thinks its just an excuse...wish it was:( Anyway, the good news is that i have just about made the whole day through, a couple more hours to go.:huggie: I even got out on the kids trampoline today for 10 mins (and collapsed in fits of hysterics..LOL and I also ahve a touch of the flu developing i think..)which is more exercise than i have managed in a long time! Its a good workout for your legs too if you didn't already know! -
:cryI used to be a fan of low carb and to be honest don't remember doing it while being banded but i may have before having a baby and losing my mind! LOL I have a HUGE carb addiction, and need to knock it on the head. NOW! If you do low carb how strict are you? Do you think there would be any probs with me say doing the Atkins induction for a few days till i get the rubbish outta my system? Has anyone else tried this? Did stuff get stuck? Please help, I am at crisis point! (up 1.2kg this week - no losses for more than two months only gains....:think)Yes i think i need afill too, but i know i have a sugar/carb problem and have had for sometime.:hungry::hungry:

Well this is just what i need! I am a full time working mum too. I have found every excuse in the book. I have an exercise bike but my excuse not to use it is that it hurts my BuTT LOL I was thinking lastnight that i can do steps on our steps to the verandah. Even just a little will be better than nothing... Thanks for the question and the responses!
