    Inspirations!

Here Is Me And My Gang.
  3. Congratulations to everyone! I haven't had access to my puter for ages and have come to see how everyone has done. I am down to 83 kg or 183 ounds today. I haven't done much except eat over the past couple of weeks and have resigned myself to that fact. I have stayed pretty steady on the scale for the holiday period and I am so pleased with that.! First time in history that there is no damage done there! Can't wait to settle in to a new home and new life. Will have heaps of different opportunities to get this bod moving. I am keen to get a horse now that I am of a reasonable weight. I tried to do a push up yesterday and nearly killed myself :laugh :laugh :laugh Need some serious help in that department! Anyway good to catch up and hope to become a little more regular here again.
  4. Hi everyone, I am wondering if anyone can tell me any of the old fashioned weight bearing exercises to do. Even better would be a book about it. I used to have an old book that was supposedly military based. It was just a little book, but it had charts and 'challenges'. I didn't need any fancy equipment, just me and my bod. oh and I chucked in a skipping rope for interests sake. My little fella thought it was fun to pull it apart one day a year or two ago and I would love to have something similar again. I move around a great deal and don't want to have tonnes of stuff. Walking isn't toning me up, so even though I have gotten down to a size 16 i don't feel as good as if I was a taught and toned 16. :nervous
  5. Greg, are you emailing or private messaging? I can't receive attachments at the moment cos there is a stinky email virus cruising around. My server picks it up, but I have requested no attachments until it cools down. ( I lost my last computer to one of those darn things.) Perhaps another way is that you could post the info you want and we could cut and paste into a pm for you...??? Anyway, can't wait for tomorrow to start. Bye

Ugh. Can I start again, please?

In light of everything I posted previously, I am in need of some spirit and kind words. My hubby has gone and now I am eating my way out of the house! Please please please let it be the 22nd soon! :ermm I have huge emotional eating happening and I need that challenge to begin! I have eaten my way through this weekend, eating in between meal times and then wanting those refined carbs like nothing else. Tomorrow is the beginning of the challenge and I have to pull myself together. I am under 200lbs for the first time in my adult life and I DO NOT want to go back there. I will exercise, I WILL STOP EATING I WILL I WILL I WILL.... :ermm :ermm :ermm

    I'm glad I told.

They have got no idea what it takes, even with the band. This is one part of band life that I believe we need to be more vocal about. It DOES take willpower. There are still those foods and drinks that we could slip in very easily, but we don't(very often )because it would defeat the purpose. I believe we should never feel ashamed or put down by those who don't understand what it really takes to be banded. Yeah it makes overeating impossible, but we still have to monitor ourselves, we still have to get off the couch by our own free will for exercise and we do go through all the tricky bits at the start where we have no idea what the heck is going on so we worry at every little niggly sensation. Stick up for yourself and sort out those who ARE jealous. They aren't yet strong enough to take control of their lives. What does it matter how you do it, as long as you do it! Congratulations for taking back your life and never let anyone take that away from you! :banana :banana :banana

Ugh. Can I start again, please?

You will get back on track Alex. Its only one episode, and you probably deserve it anyway. Smile and start again tomorrow. :Bunny I think La Madam is right about it being in the stars or something. I over did it with pasta and meat sauce last night, followed by a Mars Bar that I have kept in the freezer since before I was banded (30 June)and then found myself in the Nuttella this morning. Well, i guess old habits do die hard...its stress for me now that I think about it. My hubby went for a trip overseas yesterday and wont be back for months. :cry :cry :cry I am determined that it wont continue and have actively put myself into two different challenges to combat it. Cheers and chin up.

    nsv's

:laugh :laugh :laugh wow, ican't believe it. although my weight isn't necessarily doing much, my bod is changing heaps. I have just been on a trip to alice springs where i finally had access to clothes, full length mirrors etc and discovered i am now size 16! I stared out as 22/24. Woohoo! It was my goal to be a 16 by new years, but I might even make it to a 14. I bought a short denim skirt and some togs yay... Over the past two weeks I have moved my watch band hole up two holes. i started at the last hole and am now on the fourth hole out of eight. It is so amazing and i still can't comprehend it. The best thing that has happened is that a co-worker didn't recognise me when i was getting out of the car at her place. She said it was really weird, as she knew the car but couldn't figure out who was getting out of it because i have changed so much. her exact words were "i thought you were 'a slim person' not good ol' Jode" She was nearly as excited about it as me! The best part of it is is that she sees me every day.

    Not Loosing any weight!!!!!

please remember that this isn't a quick fix. My husband has to remind me of that the weeks where my weight doesn't change. I bet you will find that even though the scales aren't moving you will still be shrinking. Clothes mysteriously get bigger even though the numbers don't. Hang in there. It will come off eventually.
  13. I would love to join in. I will be travelling around a bit and moving on top of that over the silly season so I may not be able to sign in EVERY week, would anyone mind? And as far as challenges go, here is a site that I am also involved in where challenges are set much like this, but the moderator makes a separate area for challenge discussions so the threads don't get out of hand. You guys can check it out for ideas...http://www.slimmingforlife.com.au/

    I'm glad I told.

:Bunny I started out with every intention of not telling anyone, then I made my website which I was so proud of that I told two of my closest friends, then, I was going to surprise my family, but couldn't hold in the excitement, THEN i wasn't going to tell another living soul. Well, I had to stay with friends when I got my band, so I had to tell them, then when i lost my first 10 kg I couldn't shut up about it to every one at work, and now I just tell anyone who will listen! :Bunny :Bunny :Bunny :Bunny :Bunny I love it, I love that it works, I love that I still have to think about what I am doing and I love that iam now a size 16!!! Yay for the band I say! Lets be proud of taking charge of our lives and turning them round for the better, for being brave as many put it, but most of all, for being us. Spread the word I say! Cheers

    bloating?

Hi everyone, I have noticed that I am feeling very bloated and sluggish the day after I eat refined carbs in a higher proportion to my meal. I did have this issue pre band and worked it with low carb dieting. Does anyone know if low carb is ok with a band? (Especially considering that all the stuff I am talking about gets stuck at some stage anyway...) Cheers

    bloating?

THANKS. In Australia there isn;t so much of the eat your protein first stuff. (Well at least with my surgeon). All the info I get here ( from two unrelated sources) encourages balanced sensible eating. :Bunny Bye for now

    I'm a Banded Woman!!

YAY for you Please don't focus on the losses so much. I found that even if I wasn't losing on the scale, I was shrinking anyway. Goodluck and keep up your high spirits.

What was some of the things

I eat too fast, especially chicken. If it is roasted it gets stuck everytime I have big trouble getting my water in as do most of you, and I have trouble saying no to some of the easy treats sometimes (choccies, lollies, icecream)but this is not even a once a week issue so I am not too worried about it for now. Cheers

    slow weight loss

Hi Janie, I was banded in Darwin. I have never heard of having your band filled in surgery, so I don't really know what to say...If your band hasn't leaked could the join in the port - you know - the tube thingy have leaked? Mr Traecy is my surgeon and he is wonderful. He has a compulsory check up at 6 weeks and then fills can be once a month, though he prefersnot to do a fill before 10 weeks. I highly recommend him, and i am sure he wouldn;t mind giving you some advice. Chin up

    Swedish vs Inamed

Hi ya, you may have already found all you need regarding this matter...I managed to find some pics - don't know if you are interested. The first one is the swedish one, the second one is the lapband.
  24. Hi again. I had my band done in Darwin, Northern Territory Australia. All up I am out of pocket about A$900. Mr Tracey was wonderful and does my follow up care. I can only see him about once every 3 months because of distance, work and time. He would like to see me monthly for the first year, but can't, so is trying to get me to my peak fill level in less 'services' because I can't see him so regularly.ie, he tried 4cc 2 weeks ago but no Water was going down so he took out 2cc. He is great, and seems very easy going but thorough. Because of the conditions I live in I am actually getting frustrated with what is available to eat. I would love to have more salad and fruit, but this isn't available to me most of the time. (Our fresh stuff lasts about a week)There is only transport here for fresh groceries every 3-4 weeks. We do have a vegie garden but nothing much in the way of salad grows cos of the heat. I make my own yoghurt. I guess on an average day I have yoghurt and tinned fruit for breaky, or one weetbix and skim milk, leftovers for lunch and a stewy casserole thing for dinner - usually chicken or lamb with spuds, carrots, silverbeet, onion etc. Stirfry is good too when we have all the yummy stuff off the truck still - usually chicken or tuna. My husband is an islander so we often would have rice and tuna with sweet potato. The rest of the family still have this regularly, but i find rice to tricky if its dry like that. We are moving to civilization in about 8 weeks(58 days to be exact! :laugh )where I will be able to have the freshness that I crave. Fresh fish, fruit, vegies, meat you name it.YAY! :laugh I know my kids and Hubby really long for these too, especially the fruit. If ever I feel a bit peckish I have some yoghurt, its my fave. I also really love haveing a warm cup of sustagen when I can get it. Does anyone go through periods where the scale doesn't really move for a couple of weeks, then WOOSH, down it goes? That has happened tome a couple of times now. I have been stuck at 94-95kg for a couple of weeks, then yesterday down it went to 93kg and was still there today! Cheers Jodie 110kg/93kg/58kg 163cm banded 30 June 2004, Darwin Australia. 1st fill 28 Sept 2cc SAGB
