I was banded May 1st, and I did my first push mowing and yard work yesterday. I felt a little aching around my port as I was finishing up but nothing major and it went away. Speaking of beer, (and alcohol in general) what advice has everyone else been given post op? My diet sheet said no alcohol for 2 years !:omg: But I suspect that is the same instructions that are given to their Gastric Bypass. What were you told about alcohol? Johnny

I was driving without problems 3 days after surgery. It was just a little sore getting in and out of the care. My surgeon said it was ok to drive as soon as I was off the pain medicine. Just take it easy and for short distances the first couple of times and you'll be fine.

Hello Ohio Banders! I'm Johnny Ray, and I was banded May 1st, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, OH. My Surgeon was Michael Canaday. The Bariatric Center just started doing lapbands, and I was one of the first. Everything went well, and I went home the same day. So hopefully there will be a lot more Southeast Ohio banders out there real soon!:clap2: -
I didn't have to wait very long. I decided on the surgery after regaining all the weight I loss on Medifast, so I really didn't have any second thoughts. I had my date set up, for about 6 weeks after I decided on the lapband. Fortunately, all the insurance approval went without a hitch, and was Banded May 2nd. Believe me, the time will go fast until your surgery, and it will be worth it!

I was banded on Tuesday, but fortunately didn't have any Nausea, I did have a some liquid BMs the 2nd day, but other than that, no GI problems. I also have some shoulder pain off and on also, but nothing plain tylenol. Good luck on your journey! -
Days missed due to surgery?

I was banded on Tuesday, and I'm going back to work on Monday, which was about right for me. I think it's better to take a little extra time off, just in case you don't bounce back quickly. Best of luck on your banding! -
Hi guys. I was banded Tuesday. so far, so good. A little gas discomfort, but feeling better everyday!

Pre-op testing question
JohnnyRay replied to losin'it's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The number is probably your hemoglobin level. Take the supplements and see what your levels turn out. If the anemia is a new thing, the doctor may want to run other tests to find out what is causing the anemia. Best of luck with your surgery! -
Same day surgery? Not here :-(

I was banded Tuesday, and went home the same day. For myself, it worked well, since I only live a mile from the hospital, and my wife is an RN. Personally, being in my own bed, and home enviroment worked for me, but I probably would have stayed if my doctor wanted.
