My Nut asked me to cut back on the nut butters. I LOVE peanut butter & was eating it every day. She asked me to cut back to 3 times a week. I have & I'm okay with it. I eat raisins, cottage cheese, beets & pickles as snacks. Before it would have been cookies or cakes. I was 232 lbs when I started this journey on Easter Monday, now I'm 145 lbs. Water is still an issue, but it always will be for me. I was never a big water drinker. I will drink it with orange or lemon slices in it, so I always have those available.

Getting Sleeved In 4 Hrs. Scared To Death!
Reet replied to jrobert1981's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good luck. Food becomes an after thought & your best friends turn out to be the people you can DO things with. Walking around, shopping, having fun without getting out of breath. -
I stopped using my Cpap about 2 weeks after surgery; I felt like it was pushing in too much air. After a few nights without it, I felt better. I never used it again.
-
I also feel that I'm eating more. But my diet has changed a lot! I used to love Chinese food, especially General's chicken. Not now. I can't eat stuff that is batter dipped or breaded. I have stalled loosing every week, but I go down about 1 or 2 lbs every few weeks.

It happens. Stick with it. I'm not drinking enough, so everyday I have to talk myself into it. Start again.

I've lost 78lbs in 6 months & feel great. BUT, I've noticed I'm eating more than I was. I'm starting to worry about over eating. Anyone have suggestions? Yesterday's food: 1/2 english muffin with peanut butter & strawberry jam, snack-protein bar, lunch vegetable soup (1cup), snack-protein bar, dinner 1 stuffed shell & salad, snack-trail mix. 2 cups coffee, 2 servings water & 1 serving milk. I'm not a big water drinker. I try & try, but I keep falling short of the 8 servings.

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery

None. Still loosing 6 months post surgery. -
I had stopped using my fitness pal, but I started again yesterday. My Nut. wants me to eat 6 times a day, small meals & snacks. I've got to replace one of the protein bars. I'm still loosing weight, not at the rate I was, but I'm still going in the right direction. I just was worried about getting the feeling back of over eating.

You can get through it & it's worth it! It's the best thing I ever did. I feel good! I can tie my shoes & walk upstairs with the laundry basket. AND, I'm wearing skinny jeans! I haven't worn size 8/10 clothes since I was in middle school, maybe even younger!

One Week From Today

It's the best thing I ever did. -
I am 6 months post sleeve. When my husband & I go out, we order one appetizer & one entree. When the appetizer comes, I take a little & he eats the rest. I keep the plate & when his dinner comes, I take a little & put it on my plate. I just had breakfast, 1/2 english muffin with strawberry jam & peanut butter. For snack I'll have a protein bar, lunch soup, afternoon snack mozzarella stick, protein shake or bar, chicken & green beans for dinner, then a snack at night. It gets better, in the beginning I thought I would never eat a meal again, so I know just where you are!

I wanted a quicker recovery & better results. The people I know that had bypass gained all the weight back after a few years. You're not seeing the weight gain after sleeve surgery. Plus it was a much simpler surgery. I just was better for me. It is the best thing I ever did. 5 years ago my friend had gastric bypass & lost 80 lbs. She now weighs about 100 lbs. more than before her surgery. Her health is bad; it's sad.

I never stopped! I'm fine.

My surgeon showed a video of his lap band & sleeve surgeries. After the video, there was no choice, I wanted the sleeve. The idea of the band sewed in place and the regular injection to inflate the ring was not appealing. Then I heard that a friend's friend had a band that slipped twice & had to be removed. She was NOT a patient of my doctor! My sleeve surgery was the BEST thing I ever did. I was 232 in March, had surgery April 9th & now I'm 153. I feel GREAT! I work with a man who had the band about 6 months prior to my sleeve (also different doctor) and he is not loosing weight like I did.

Protien Drink ... :(
Reet replied to GiiNaGiiNa408's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My taste buds changed after surgery; the protein shakes that I loved before surgery, I couldn't stand after. I have tried a lot of them & you will too, until you find the one that fits your taste. I tried & like Gatoraid recover3; the orange/tropical drink and the chocolate milk. They are the only ones I like now. Keep trying different ones, you'll find one you like. Also, when you can eat solids, try Luna bars. I'm 4 months post & Love them! -
Surgery Was Yesterday Aug 6
Reet replied to DEZ1975's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
While sitting up, my husband would tap on my back, starting at the bottom & work his way up. I would burp alot, then would be good for about an hour or so. The only discomfort I had was from the gas & this really helped. -
I had surgery on May 9th; now I'm bored with most foods. No desire to eat the stuff I liked before. I'm down 60 lbs and feeling great. BUT, I can't eat the fruits & veggies that are plentiful right now and I used to love them! It's a little depressing. I have to eat my protein first & can't fit in the other stuff. When will I be able to eat a "normal" meal?
-
I really don't like most protein shakes. After my surgery, my taste buds changed. The only protein drink I like is, gatorade recover3 orange/tropical. I haven't found a powder I like yet. And I goofed, I had surgery April 9th, not may 9th. I lost 61 lbs, then this week I have gained 2 lbs! I am walking everyday, probably more than I every have. What is up with that?

This Was Supposed To Be A Great Day.
Reet replied to milkD's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I pray that all will be well with your son. Just think how lucky you are that you already scheduled someone to be with you that week. I went back to work 1 1/2 weeks post surgery; I was tired, but okay. In just a few weeks post surgery, you'll be saying "Thank God I did this" because you'll fell so much better. -

I finally found a protein drink I like: Gatoraid recovery3 chocolate. 20 gr protein. I tried it yesterday & went out to buy more today! I also found that I like Luna bars. My hair is coming out slowly also & I'm only 2 1/2 months post op.
