The GAS feels like someone is shooting off fireworks in your stomach and they are being held down to earth by the walls of your stomach. It can move with you or against you. Sometimes it sits and lies in "weight" for you to put a sip of Fluid in your mouth and then launces. Sometimes it's as if it is the grand finali (sp?) that goes on forever. It can make you hurt, feel nauseated, feel like you've just eaten the biggest holiday dinner imaginable or as if you are having a heart attack if the gas gets up into your chest. I just talked to my drs office and they want me to take Zofran for nausea and keep a bite of popicle in my mouth as much as possible. If that doesn't work.......I'm off to the ER unfortunately and they will call my doc and he'll tell them to give me IV fluids. If I make it thru the night, I am to see him in the a.m. in his office. It just really makes me angry that I was doing so well Post-OP and then this. I was ready to move onto full liquids tomorrow....looking forward to it.....now I'll just be happy if I can keep any liquids down at all. :-(

Hi All, I was banded on 9/10/08 so that makes me 5 days post op. I am miserable. I have the worst diarrhea that I have ever experienced in my life, I am unable to drink pretty much anything including water, just the smell of broth makes me want to gag. I do have tons of gas but am moving around a lot and (prepare for grossness ALL!) when the diarrhea hits, it is very explosive. I've never had anything like this and I've had some bad intestinal things over the yrs. I have called my drs office and am waiting on a call back. I am on day 3 of outputting more than I am inputting and I have a horrible headache, I am dizzy and my temp keps fluctuating. Just wanted you to know that you are not alone.

BCBS 6 month required diet-need advice
lindatabr replied to heather113076's topic in Insurance & Financing
Hi! I am one of those who has been trying to get everything in order to have my surgery approved since Feb. 2007. My BCBS of AL does state that it takes 6 months of documented supservised weight checkups. My doctor and I began the journey in March. She retired in August. According to her records, she saw me for 6 months and I should have been approved. She moved to FLA thinking I was on the way to a healthier, happier, smaller me. The bari dr I am trying to use sent my paperwork in and everything looked in order. Came back denied because there wasn't the 7th month in there. The documentation does read 6 months. I am now appealing because my doctor has retired and I did everything that "we" thought I needed to do. I did all the tests and paid for them that the bari dr wanted done. But you want to know what gets to me the most? I've had to do everything myself w/out any assistance from the bari drs office. All they did was fax in the packet when it looked like all my paperwork was there. When I didn't hear from BCBC in 6 wks, I called them to see what the problem was. They said they had sent a rejection letter to the bari drs office like 3 wks prior. I was steamed. I called and left a msg demanding to know why they never bothered to call me. I got a call back 3 wks later......told me I was denied and there was nothing they could do to help me unless I wanted to go w/the self-pay out of pocket plan. I'm pretty sure I slammed the phone down. So now not only am I appealing the turndown by ins. but I am looking for another bari dr in my area of North Alabama. Thank you all for listening. I'm proud of all of you for sticking with it and getting what you need for your own good health. In my appeal, I'm even going to show them how much money they are going to save if they go ahead and approve the lapband surgery!! :-) Linda -
I checked with BCBS of AL, which is the ins. that I have now, and as of April 28th, 2007, they will now cover lapband procedure and not just the by-pass provided that you follow the guidelines that they have set forth. The main one seems to be going to an approved method of trying to lose weight for 6 consequtive months no less than one year prior to request for surgery. This can be 6 visits to your family physician, once per month documenting what you are doing, etc or to something like LA Weight Loss. It cannot be Weight Watchers, online weight loss sites, etc. I am thankful that this has now been approved and that as long as I follow their guidelines (which are almost identical to the by-pass ones) because I am about halfway thru the process now and am truly looking forward to being able to have my surgery in the fall. Please check with your BCBS provider and they can send you the new ruling dated April 28th, 2007. Linda
