? It Has Nothing To Do With The Sleeve Well I Guess It Does..lol
MGM replied to grayeybeauty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's only 15 years...you're not really old enough to be his mom (in a perfect world). And sometimes people seem older than they are. Have fun! I would! -
August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?
MGM replied to futureskinnypants's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congratulations, buddy!!! Woot woot! -
Well I as well find it a term of endearment like saying, my 'man' sweetie. I no longer post hubs as hubby. He's hubs when I'm referring to him. It's less cute, less endearing, and just...hubs.

I had a toxic goiter and radioactive iodine to remove mine in 2012. Whether my thyroid levels are too low or too high, I gain weight. I'm weird that way! I had my sleeve surgery 8/22/12. My highest weight was 265. It was 249 day of surgery and 221 this morning, so I'm losing at a steady 10 pounds a month, and I'm happy with that. I am on 150mcg levothyroxine right now and I've never had to crush my pills. My doctor said anything the size of an m&m or smaller is fine to swallow.

I'm only 45 lbs down, and I totally agree! It was one of my mini goals. So is grooming and being able to see, but I'm not there yet! Congrats!
-
Congrats! I sure that feels amazing. I'm 23 lbs behind you and that's my first big goal!

I went to dr kelly 8/22/12. I was going alone, but my 18 year old son was able to come at the last minute. We felt perfectly safe. The nicer hotels, people can only go up in the elevator if they have a key. I stayed with the people I was with, and didnt venture alone at any time. People say things because they don't know. I don't even go to New Orleans and I live 10 miles away!

How Often Do You Stall?
MGM replied to TheNewSusie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't stalled at all. I'm just a really slow loser. I lose about 2-3 pounds per week. I'm ok with that. I guess I should be thankful for small favors. I was sleeved 8/22. I have lost 23 since day of surgery and almost 40 since starting the PRE-op diet. -

Bmi 20! Sleeved With Dr. Kelly Last November
MGM replied to sirensiren's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I haven't had problems and any concerns, I will talk to my pcp next week. There were no instructions by him. I saw him once before surgery, once the day after surgery, then once the day of the leak test. I emailed him my concerns regarding how I was treated while there to his personal email, with no response. Omar is the only one that checks on me from time to time. I am losing very slow. About 10lbs a month, but that's because of my non related health issue. -
Bmi 20! Sleeved With Dr. Kelly Last November
MGM replied to sirensiren's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Wish I could say the same. I had Vsg with him 8/22/12. Almost 2 months. My experience was very non-personable. He hasn't checked with me even once. I haven't heard from Omar in about a month, and disappointed with the "after" treatment. I was forced to have surgery a day early AND cross the border a day early, for their convenience. I am out over 200 for 2 hotel nights in San Diego. Still no response concerning that either. -
August Sleevers. What Is The Progress? How Are You Feeling
MGM replied to Lucabelle1313's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
August 22nd was surgery day. Hw 265, dos 250 now 242. Slow loser. Hurricane Isaac messed up my diet requirements. I had to eat what was available. Thankfully I am doing fine. Protein shake for breakfast, 1/2 cup protein based food for lunch, egg whites, Greek yogurt or something for snack and dinner 1/2c protein based food. Not getting all my water or protein in though. Protein approximately 50grams, water about 40-50 ounces. Glad most of us are doing alright. I hope you feel better soon, IGGY. -
Anyone Start At 240Ish Lbs?
MGM replied to PiggyPantsPaige's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Im 244.6. Started at 250 day of surgery 8/22/12. I guess I'm going to be a slow loser, but some loss is better than none. I also am 41 and do not have a thyroid, so I'm sure neither of those helps. I also don't have a workout regimen yet. Things are too crazy still. But will be implementing something very soon. -
This is my story: I didn't really want to bad mouth, but I had limited funds and am out $200. I AM happy with my surgery, and Dr. Kelly, but it wasn't the experience everyone else spoke of. I saw Dr. Kelly maybe 4 times, all in a professional capacity only. Let me start from the beginning. I scheduled my flights and days just as Omar had told me. I was flying in on Aug. 22 and returning home Aug. 27. Since I couldn't get an earlier flight, Omar said he would pick me up from the airport, do some sightseeing in San Diego, then check into the hospital that night, surgery the next day. The day before I was to leave, I got a call from Omar saying Dr. Kelly was going to do my surgery the same day I arrived at around 7pm, could I get a flight home Sunday. Called my airline and was told there would be a $180 each charge to change a flight, so $360 fee. I called Omar back, and said I would pay out of pocket for ONE night at the Lucerna $92.00. This was for THEIR CONVENIENCE, not mine! So, left the hospital Friday to stay at Lucerna. Was to stay there Saturday night, as a part of my $5500 overall price, and pay out of pocket for Simdau night. Cecy insisted I cross the border Saturday, because she didn't want to have to cross it Monday morning. The couple that was there when I was, was leaving Saturday. I did not have a choice in the matter AT ALL. Omar mentioned something about a conference they were attending. So my question/answer is they shouldn't have let me book it on the date I did. Since I had to leave Lucerna two days early, that is also additional food I had to buy. Because you are supposed to get free broth at the Lucerna. To top it off, I get an email Sunday from Cecy, his wife, saying I didn't check out and they got charged an extra night, but they are ok with that, not to worry. WE DID CHECK OUT SO I HAVE NO CLUE WHERE THIS IS COMING FROM. They have been very unsympathetic to my plight, and I really feel I was treated unfairly. So basically, surgery, hospital, 1 day in Mexico with Omar the whole time, then a cold and impersonable trip over the border with Cecy. Not to mention, Omar made it sound like he was going to pick up and drop off. If you were told this, it isn't a fact. He doesn't have a green card or something so can't transport across the border. To top it off, Cecy speaks VERY LIMITED English, so good luck!! OH...Cecy WOULD have put me up at a Quality Inn in San Diego where I would have been stranded for two days, unless I wanted to pay more money for a cab...but if I was being kicked out of a 4 start hotel to go to a Quality Inn, that's just BS!!! If you're going to kick me out early, then put me in something equal. That's what was paid for! To add to this, all I was given was a little 5 page information "manual", no future verbal instructions or resources from Dr. Kelly. I will go to my regular doctor in about a month, but I just feel stuck and do not know what to do from here. Omar has emailed me asking for my full name, for Western Union, but it's not just about the money. Dr. Kelly has never responded to my email voicing my concerns, and that bothers me. I am two weeks post op as of yesterday, and have only lost 5 pounds. Yes, part of that is MY fault, because of Hurricane Isaac. I couldn't eat what I was supposed to, and had to eat what was available, and just chew it to mush. Things are getting back to normal..,finally. I also need to start incorporating exercise. But if you're looking for the after care, Mexico is not for you. You will not receive any. I feel like they didn't even care about my future. I see on his facebook page, there is a nutritionist involved, and some people met her. Not me! Everything felt rushed. I am glad I am sleeved. I am glad I am feeling good. I am glad I have not had any problems (so far).

I have been sleeved! August 22nd was the beginning of my new life. I went to Dr. Kelly in Mexico and I DID NOT get the same awesome treatment as those before me. I am happy with the surgery but very disappointed with the service. I did not go there to be a tourist, but I didn't even get the amount of stay time I paid for. They kicked me out of the hospital a day early, they kicked me out of the hotel a day early, made me cross the border to San Diego two days early. If it wasn't for my new best friend and sleeve sister letting me stay with them, I would have had to pay two nights of hotel. I only winded up having to pay for one, but am very disappointed in the unprofessional way I was treated. I sent an email to Dr. Kelly about this with no response yet. I still had to pay the same price and was shorted two nights. I hope they have a conscience, and it starts talking to them. I feel a majority of it was Cecy, his wife and office manager's fault.

I'll post more when I'm on a regular computer instead of my fone. I'm trying to be 'nice' Omar emailed saying they would work it out this week. We shall see.

I Can't Wait To Not Have To...
MGM replied to BrickHouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't wait to not be ignored, like I don't exist -
Know you're not supposed to weigh every day but I can't help it. I started my 2 week preop diet early, so it's awesome to actually SEE IT MOVING! How am I going to stay off of it post op? I know I'm going to be a slow loser. I've list 8 lbs in 2 weeks preop. A lot of people lose more.
-
I know. I just also know I have a slow metabolism. As long as its going down and not up, I'm ecstatic!!

I'm going alone to Dr. Kelly on 8/23 and am fine with it. He did tell me I could take a Xanax on the plane for my nerves
