Hi everyone- I was banded on April 30. 2007, and am currently in the mushy/babyfood consistency stage and everything tastes YUCKY!!! I have tried mashed potatoes, yams, Soups, eggs, cottage cheese, avacado, Jello, and pudding and they all make me feel sick. Even my Protein shake has started to make me want to gag. :speechles The only thing that I can kind of tolerate is baby apple sauce and Peanut Butter. I am hungry, and things sound good when I am making them but then when it is time to eat...BLAH. I have not thrown up yet but I feel like I need to after I eat. I am not hardly eating but maybe 1oz before I just give up.:think Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any suggestions? I can feel my body getting weaker. :faint: Please Help:help:

Depression after surgery?!
wolfmaydn replied to wolfmaydn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I am an emotional eater. I eat when I am happy and sad. It like any other addiction that I have ever had. (I HOPE) At first it is difficult, and your body misses the satisfaction it receives from it, but eventually everything is ok. Don't get me wrong..once an addict always an addict, but you learn ways to keep from folding under the pressure -
Depression after surgery?!
wolfmaydn replied to wolfmaydn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That makes me fill better I was told that food is like an addiction and when we are "coming off" food that it is natural and necessary to replace that addiction with something else...so i think i will go try some retail therapy. I have also planted an herb garden, started reading more books, crocheting, and scrapbooking....just trying to keep busy. Thanks -
Hi all, I was banded on April 30, 2007. It has been about 10 days and I am starting to feel depressed. About what? Im not quite sure, but I am crying easily, restless, wanting to do something, but I am not quite sure what yet. I know it sounds crazy, but I almost feel lost. Lost with what to do with myself. Anyone else experience this after surgery? I would sure like to know that I am not alone.:help:

Banded Yesterday 4/30!! Feel Great So Far
wolfmaydn replied to drekagirl1976's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pain pump allowed me to self administer a dose of morphine every 8 min if i needed it. But it would just knock me out for about 45 min at a time, then any movement made me sick....so i quit using the meds unless i was in ALOT of pain. -
It took me a week to burp!!! (I finally did it today) I was banded on 04/30/07 and any time i swallowed too much air i had to wait for it to work itself to the other end

i am a side sleeper, but since i have been banded (4/30/07) it pulls to much to try to sleep on my side. Mostly i sleep in a recliner or propped up in my bed

On 10 day liquid diet...did anyone else do this?
wolfmaydn replied to smurfettegrl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got it at a store called Max Muscle...but it this product is NOT on their web site www.MaxMuscle.com. But it is on the web site www.nuteknutrition.com, this is the best product ever. There are so many flavors, chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, bananna, and Cookies and cream. Best of Luck -
Banded Yesterday 4/30!! Feel Great So Far
wolfmaydn replied to drekagirl1976's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow...I only got a pain pump for one day. I had a hard time with the pump though. I made me nausious and was always dozing off to sleep. When i quit using the pump I was able to move around more and feel better faster Best of Luck to you -
That is soo funny that you would mention this. I too was banded on April 30, 2007, and just to see if i had lost any thing i stepped on my bathroom scale, and to my surprise...it was 8 lbs heavier. I knew at that time it was just swelling from surgery. I will now just wait till my post opp visit to see what i weigh.

Pre-op testing question
wolfmaydn replied to losin'it's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im not sure exactly what the numbers mean, but my doc had me take Ferrous Sulfate 325mg three times a day for 2 weeks. This brought my levels up, and it was especially helpful in keeping my energy levels up during my two week liquid diet. -
Surgery in 11 days, nervous is an understatement!!
wolfmaydn replied to dawnc27wa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was nervous too before surgery. I have had a few surgerys before though so i kinda knew what to expect. I am sure each case is different, but with me what they did when i got there was called pre-opp. There they had me change into a gown, they wrapped my legs with Ace bandages and hooked up an inflatable device to my feet...it was kinda like a foot massage. Then they gave me an IV to start fluids. Soon after that the anesthesia dr came in and then the surgeon came in just to explain the process to me. I was then wheeled into the operating room and moved to the operating table...from there then strap you in (the bed is narrow) and then they make you breath some oxygen and then the next thing you will remember is waking up in recovery. You will be there for a few hours. Just make sure to tell them exactly how you feel. Make sure they give you meds if you feel nausious. Here they hooked me to a morphine pump and then took me to my room. The worst part of the hospital stay, for me anyways, is when i am uncomfortable i want to move around, it is hard to do this when you are hooked up to an IV, but possible. It sounds crazy, but move around as soon as you can and walk as much as you can. The sooner you get the anasthetic out of you the better you will feel. Good Luck...Hope this was helpful -

I have a hard time measuring my sips too. What i did was purchase 1 oz cups from a restraunt supply store. (They are the little plastic lids with cups that you get from restraunts that have lids...and they are washable or you can just throw them away). I usually sip half and then the other half a few minutes later.
