  1. I was actually denied twice. The first time because they sent my paperwork in after only 3 months on the diet. Although Aetna has a 3 month supervised diet my specific plan required 6 months. The second time I was denied because there were some descrepencies in my medical notes. They required 5 years worth of weight history. in 2 of the years the assistants in my pcp put down that i was 5'6 when i was really 5'3. So at 5'6 my bmi was under the 35 mark. So i basically sent them a letter and made a timeline of every piece of paper that i was submitting. They also required a list of all the diets i had been on in 5 years. My letter was a little on the snarky side and bam i was approved a month after sending it.
  2. I too was in your boat but i had about 20 lbs to play with. I just lost the minimal weight i could or stayed the same. I had to maintain my weight for 2 months while we went through the Appeal process. I was finally approved on Christmas Eve and had Surgery on January 9th. Good luck to you!

Do any low BMI-ers regret having the surgery?

My BMI the morning of my surgery was a 36.0 @ 5'3 203 lbs. Although i am only 11 days post op i can't imagine not having the surgery. I like everyone else have done every diet there probably is and i did lose weight but it always came back, so as far as your question about doing it on my own? Been there done that! I know that with this surgery i will never weigh 200+ lbs again. So even though it may be too early for me to regret it I personally can't see myself regretting it at any stage.

I am having the same problem and right now i am taking mirolax but it hasnt done anything to me yet. Not sure how much longer i can wait!

    frustrated

I too was sleeved on the 9th. How long were you in the hospital? I think that makes a big difference. I have noticed that people that had a 2 day or more hospital stay had more iv's. then i did. I only had an over night stay. I only gained 5 lbs from the iv's some people i have talked to have gained anywhere from 8-15 lbs during the hospital stay. And dont forget once you stop retaining all that Water the lbs will fly off you. It's too soon to be discouraged! I am happier then a pig rolling in $&(# that i am finally sleeved. I know in a couple of months i will have forgotten about all the gas pain, sharting myself (yes i trusted a fart), The horrible swallow test! and in the end it will be all worth it! good luck to you!

    If you had to compare.....

I had my gall bladder out in 2009 and just got the sleeve 5 days ago. I would say the pain for the sleeve was easier.
