Wenjea-Thanks for the note of encouragement. I actually didn't take any pain meds after 10 p.m. last night and got a pretty good nights sleep - so much better than in the hospital! That helped tremendously. I got up this morning and walked around the house and did some minor chores. After an hour, my back was killing me again so I retreated to the couch and took an hour nap on the heating pad. Just what I needed! Looking forward to a couple more days to pass so the gas will too. teehee

I'm home! And feeling kinda miserable. I have an amazing amount of gas and I'm hungry! But I gurgle when I eat or drink so it scares me. Pain at the hospital was horrible. The doc apparently wrote the orders for me to get morphine but they were giving me demerol every 3 hours which didn't cut it. Would knock me flat the first hour but then the 2nd hour the pain would start building and by the end of three hours, I was an 8 on the pain scale. It was bad! But once I got that great little morphine button, I was able to punch the button, sleep for an hour, punch the button, sleep for an hour...lol I'm hoping it gets better tomorrow..I'm quite antsy here at home because I just can't get comfortable. I hope I can figure out how to sleep tonight! Cheers!

LisaM- I was just wondering about scarring from gallbladder removal! I scar very easily outside and who knows about inside. Guess I will find out in TWO DAYS!!! Woohoo!

I am pre-op, but once I made the decision that I was going to change my ways, I hopped on my elliptical and am doing about 2.5 miles in 30 minutes. With a moderate incline but fairly low resistance. I want to be able to keep doing this once my surgery is done, so I've been working hard at getting into the routine and now about 1.5 months down the road, I HAVE to exercise or it drives me crazy!

When my gallbladder 'went bad', even Water caused horrible heartburn. Absolutely nothing would make it better. Hope to hear you are on your way to healthy! -

Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?

Okay Woodguy, I do believe your's is worse than mine!!!! At least I have a little more protein which I'm hoping will help. I start Monday and will be in the middle of vacation. Should be interesting but I'm determined! -
Wow, this thread was written for me! I am a very open person and am struggling with who to tell, who not to tell. I don't want to be under a microscope - I've been there before due to a loved one's murder - and I never want to have that much pressure on me again if at all possible! During my psych eval, I voiced my concerns and his advice was to not tell until I felt comfortable with it. But I hate keeping secrets! :target: My husband knows and my best friend who had GBP surgery 5 years ago. I have told one other friend because she will have to stay with me the night I come home from the hospital because my hubby has to work. Other than that, it will be on a need to know basis. I will be traveling to see family just 3 weeks after surgery so I am going to have to own up to it with my stepmom because we are staying at her house. Argh. I don't know what else to do but be honest...if someone asks me, I'm going to have to tell the truth...I just cannot lie even though I wish I could.... I'm still pretty confused on this whole issue.

On SlimFast Carb Conscious shakes...6.5 a day. I have to say that I am dreading this but I know I can do it. If I'm ready to binge, I'm allowed an egg or a small cup of soup or a small chicken salad. I don't think they mean six times a day though!!! -
I have my date. May 21st. Up until the hospital called and told me, I wasn't nervous....but now I am! I have 3 doctors appts this week and 2 next week to get all my tests done. Whew! But I'm going out of town for about 10 days prior to the surgery so I am a bit rushed. I can't wait!!!!:biggrin1: :clap2:
