Wow, I'm impressed!
Love your last sentence about Independence Day! That is very appropriate. I sent you friend requests on fb and MFP. I am not too far into my journey either, hope we can inspire each other.

Have you tried beef Jerky? I don't know about all of it, but I know the Jack Link's that I buy is low calorie, almost no carbs or fat, and has 15 grams of Protein per serving. It fills me up and stays in my sleeve for much longer than fruit. I have never tasted beef jerky until a couple of weeks ago and was surprised to actually enjoy it. I like the peppered kind the best....nice and spicy.

You can still have RnY after the sleeve. It would help you lose more with the liquids all over again.
BUT, I personally wouldn't do it. I have read recently that there is no real calorie mal-absorption, only Vitamins and minerals. I may have done it for a year of free calories. Now, some research is revealing that's a myth. Then you are just stuck for life with Vitamin issues.
So what is the answer? The same boring answer it's always been - less calories, more exercise. UGH. I don't like it either.
Since you are used to taking in a large amount of calories, maybe just choosing very low calorie foods that you can fill up on would help.
I only eat between 800-900 calories a day and my body will not lose unless I also exercise. Even on these low calories, if I go a few days without working out, my body will have the nerve to GAIN a pound or so. Without my sleeve, I would never be able to eat this few calories and it's apparently all my body needs to live on.

I love my fitbit! The website and monitoring are always free. I sync with MFP, which I have been using for awhile and I think is the best food tracking site. Fitbit also syncs with 5 or 6 other food tracking sites like lose it! Fitbit has on-site food tracking, but glad it syncs with others that you may be already using.
Also, I use my fitbit to track my sleep, not sure if you can do that with others.
Whichever one you go with, sync with Earndit to earn gift cards and enter challenges to win even more prizes.

Listen to your NUT, not your gut... I know listening to my body got me to 273 lbs
Listening to my BRAIN is what got me in this position. If I was listening to my body all along I would have been fine.

I craved Mexican food so bad starting at a few days into the pre-op liquid diet. I kept craving it until I could actually eat it. Still, at 8 weeks out, all I really want to eat is Mexican and seafood.

Oh, sorry, no I never go those places. We always go towards Gainesville when we want to go to the mall. Since we are from WV and only lived down here a few years, everyone I know lives in Lake City or Fort White.
To everyone else - will be holding these for Emily until I hear from her. Will repost the offer if she doesn't take.

No, sorry, I only go to Jacksonville when we go the airport. I can meet near the exit to 10 in town so you wouldn't have to come all the way to my house in the boonies but that is the best I can do. You don't have to get it right away, i will hold on to it for you.

I'm 8 weeks out and have lost 37 pounds since surgery. I lost 50 pre-op.

Is there anyone near me that would like some free Protein drinks? It's way too heavy to ship, but will gladly give it away to anyone who can pick it up.
1 1/2 cases of Isopure blue raspberry (30 or so bottles)
1 large barrel of Syntrax nectar Twisted cherry. It has been opened but only one scoop used.
A bunch of sample bags of assorted flavors Snytrax nectar.< /p>

I need fitbit help. I just got it today and am lost. i wore it on a quick errand (mostly driving) and it recorded 209 steps and 1459 calories burned. There is no way I burned that many calories in that short amount of driving time. Also, is there a way to sync fitbit with myfitnesspal so that I am not logging food and exercise twice?
The fitbit automatically accounts for calories you burn just by being alive each day.
On MFP, go to the tools tab to sync with fitbit.

How do I sync it to MFP? I just got my fitbit today and am so lost.
On MFP, click on the "tools" tab. It will walk you through it. It's easy peasy!

Love my fitbit! I wear it in the center of my bra all day and in the included wristband at night. I would feel lost without it now. It only needs charged once a week for a short time.
I was in a 2.5 week long stall until I got my fitbit and have been steady losing ever since. It really motivates me to get in my activity for the day. There are some great groups and great people over on the fitbit site.
Another great feature is that the fitbit syncs with other sites such as myfitnesspal and lose it! I have been using MFP for a long time now so that was a selling feature for me.
When you first sign up (which you can do before buying) you put in your weight, height, age, allergies, and other personal information. It bases calories burned on your personal information. You can make each section of your profile either private, viewable by friends, or by everyone.

Congratulations! I know exactly how that feels. My belly used to rub the steering wheel, now I am 5" from it. I still have a lot to lose, but those little things in life are just so awesome feeling!

If I was diabetic, I would have consider the GB because it cures the diabetes.
So does the sleeve.

Your surgeon will probably ask you what kind of surgery you want. I think your friend should be a little wary of a surgeon that wouldn't do the kind of surgery she wants ... unless it's for medical reasons like mine was.
Congrats on being approved and your insurance covering the sleeve. Those are the biggest hurdles to overcome!
-
Many surgeons will not do a gastric bypass with a BMI over 50. I don't think surgeons are usually the problem, it is insurance. Do you know for sure your insurance will cover it?
My sleeve was a result of me being too big for a bypass. I'm thankful now, but had not considered the sleeve beforehand.

All I remember is talking to the anesthesiologist in the OR, then waking up in recovery. No drowsiness or drifting off or anything. Just out.
I'm not sure if they woke me up or if I just woke up. I just remember hearing people talking all around and opening my eyes. The nurse was there and told me that surgery was over and I was in recovery.

Every single person I know that had a sleep study was diagnosed with "severe" sleep apnea. Most of them had zero symptoms. Makes me wonder how much of it is true and how much of it is to sell cpap machines.
I wouldn't take the chance, of course, and would use the machine if I was told to. It just makes me wonder.

I don't know if all surgeons do this, but mine had me getting shots every few hours to prevent blood clots. I also had wraps on my legs whenever I was in bed that massaged to keep circulation going. I was not high risk for clots or anything, these were just standard procedures. The blood thinner shots left bruises all over me that lasted weeks!
In today's lawsuit happy society, surgeons don't take chances. They will do everything possible to make sure you are safe and healthy.

I had a two week long stall between weeks 3-5. I did everything right and GAINED a pound!! Finally, it started coming off again, but during that time I was very depressed.
Not sure why this happens at about the same time for everyone, but at least you know you're not alone. You will start losing again.
