    Business Trips

I had Dr. Aceves for my surgery 8 days ago, and I don't even feel like I had surgery! I had a hard time with the anesthesia (which I'm prone to, since I get motion sickness and migraines at times), but by the next day I was feeling so much better. Once they took the drain out, I was feeling great. For a few days I felt like I had done a good ab workout, but now I don't even feel that! I'm going to have to be careful not to overdo things because I feel TOO good! It was my first surgery and I was soooooo worried. We even bought first class tickets for the flights home, and didn't even need them, though the extra room and service (bringing me hot Water for my broth mix right away) was very nice. My husband was shocked at how fast I recovered after feeling nausea in the recovery room. I'm jealous of all your travel! I love travel/living abroad and wish I got paid for it again. If your recovery is anything like mine, you should be fine for all your trips. I feel like I could take a business trip now, let alone in a month from now. Like I said, my concern is doing too much because I feel too good. As for the diet, previous posters outlined it. I'm still on clears for a couple more days but I'm getting my Protein in with Syntrax nectar shakes extra watered down. So far I'm tolerating everything very well, but of course I haven't tried any solid or mushy food yet. I think it'll be basically up to you at that point to make good choices - you should be physically fine eating many foods by then. By that far out, you shouldn't be too hindered by the sleeve itself (other than amounts you can eat, of course). It'll be the mental aspect that will have to be dealt with for the rest of our lives. That's not going to go away whether you travel or not. In fact, one of the reasons I got the sleeve was because I want to be more comfortable traveling. Great choice of surgeon, by the way! Everyone was so professional, caring and just dang good at their jobs! My small incisions are tiny mosquito bites and my "big" one is the width of my thumbnail and healing very nicely. Sometimes I wonder if I was really even sleeved, I feel so good! Even though I saw the contrast drink going through and have the films to look at, I still feel that way. But I am following the post-op diet very carefully because I don't want to cause myself problems.

    Three Mth Progress!

Wow, congrats! You've done great! I hope I'll have lost that much in that time, or anything close to it! I'm not even a week out yet.

    Had Consult Today

Mrs. KC, you will be fine! I'm less than 24 hours out and no pain, just some nausea and I'm very prone to it since I get motion sickness anyway. You probably won't even get that.
  4. Thanks everyone. The surgery went very well. I've just had nausea on and off but it's no surprise since I'm prone to migraines and motion sickness normally. They give me meds and it goes away. Dr. Aceves and his team have all been excellent and caring. No complaints about them.
  5. Getting ready to go back to the hospital to be sleeved by Dr. Aceves. I'd appreciate any prayers for us 3 of his patients today.
  6. I can't wait either! My day is this Saturday and I want it to be done!
  7. I'm scheduled for the 28th with Dr. Aceves. Very nervous because it's my first surgery, but very confident in my choice of surgeon/hospital.
  8. Thanks for the mention of waistbands, too! I have several pairs of jammie pants and a couple elastic waist pants. I just hope they'll be loose enough or I can move them up or down to a comfy spot! I booked first class tickets for the flight home so at least I won't be crammed in like a sardine right after surgery. :/
  9. Thanks for all your replies! I'll keep it in mind for the swallow test - I'll bring at least one sports bra. I always hook mine in the back, don't have to spin them around so I wonder if putting my arms behind me might hurt, but my husband will be there so if so, I'll have him do it! lol I'm not comfortable without a bra so I'll be putting one on as soon as they let me. And I'm looking forward to having less back fat so I can fit more and cuter styles. I just hope I don't lose too much boobage because I don't have tons to start with. lol
  10. Hi ladies, I'm scheduled for surgery next Saturday. I keep reading that ladies won't want to wear underwire bras for a while after the surgery because they'll rub on the incisions. Either my anatomy is very strange or the incisions go between your ribs, or what? I am tall (5'10") so maybe this is why, but there are 2 to 3 inches between the bottom of my bra and the bottom of any part of my ribcage (more if you measured the roll when sitting - this is why I'm getting the surgery!). So how would it be rubbing on incisions? I don't get it. Do the incisions go a lot higher than I thought? Like I said, they'd have to cut in between my ribs for my bra to rub on it. Maybe I'm a strange one but I much prefer and am more comfortable in my underwires. I wear them 24/7 except when exercising or in the shower, lol. The only non-underwires I have are my sports bras and those are tight for obvious reasons and the bands on those actually go lower under my boobs. I guess I'll bring one of my looser sports bras just in case but it's hard to imagine that being more comfy than what I'm used to. And I sure don't want to buy new stuff right before starting major weight loss. Thanks!
  11. Hey all, I'm scheduled for April 28th with Dr. Aceves and I'm wondering if anyone out there had big varicose veins before having the surgery? I have one big one in one leg that looks ugly, but when I went to a doctor about it I was told it would be cosmetic (not covered) to have it removed. The area around it did get swelled up when I gave birth but perhaps that's just from all the pushing? I hear they wrap your legs up before the surgery. I don't have a history of blood clots or anything but my mom had one years ago when she had surgery and didn't walk, walk, walk as I plan to do. It's my first surgery so I'm kind of freaking out about everything! I even booked a first class ticket for the flight home just to make sure I'll have space to move around. I do plan to have it removed someday but for now the most important thing is to get the weight off.

    A New Me.....i Still Can't Believe It

Congrats! You look fabulous and I can tell you feel fabulous too.
  13. Thank you! I'm looking forward to it, since everyone has such rave reviews. Allie, how have you been feeling since the surgery? I've never had surgery before so I'm wondering when I'll feel normal again. Of course, I'm hoping the new normal will be much better with less weight to carry around.
  14. I think we'll all do great, too. In fact, I still keep searching and searching for something negative about Dr. Aceves and my searches just turn up more praise for him, his team, his hospital, etc. Some of my relatives may freak out when they hear I went to Mexico for surgery, but with his qualifications and experience, honestly I feel he's better than most if not all American doctors. I feel safer with him than with some American doctor who may have only done 20 sleeves, you know? The only negative is having to fly after surgery, but I've flown many times before so I'm sure it'll be fine.
