hi Janie, I was banded 4/07 and can feel your pain and embaressment. I have only lost 10 lbs because I make the worst food choices and I, like you, say tomorrow I will do better. I can't give up and neither can you. We must try really hard to follow the band guide lines and i hear that it really will work. I am going in for anadjustment next week and once again I will try again. We can do this!!! Let's 'band' together and get skinny!

My name is Stacie. I am married with 3 kids. I was banded in 4/07 by dr Hollis in Houston, TX. I have not lost any weight. Well, I lost some and gained some over the past year. I started at 238 and now weigh 218. My band has been nothing but trouble. Once I get a fill it is fine for 2 weeks then it slowly resticts to the point I can't even get liquids down. I have to go back in and have some of the fill taken out. Then in another week or so I have no restriction. So of course I eat like a pig. I have this head hunger I can't get past. i am a cash pay so of course I have had no counseling and when I go in for my fills it's just a PA that does it and you never see the doctor again. Right now I have no restiction at all. I can eat anything. I am scared to go get another fill. I need help and support please from someone who has had a tough time but still managed to loose weight and it didn't fall off in one year like magic. Please help I am so depressed!!!!

Thank you so much for your advice. I was reading your journey and it was like reading my life story. It is nice to know that somone had as much trouble as me with the band. You are so right that I am not making the right decisions about what i eat when i have restriction. I always go for what is easiest to get down which is ususally high in calories. I am so afraid of PBing becasue then i know my band will restirct. My pcp put me on fluid pills too see if that will help with the band. It seems when my feet swell around the time for TOM as you called it then that is when i would wake up with the band closed shut to even spit. I will go back in for another fill next week and give this another try. You have motivated me not to give up. Thanks for the pep talk and advice. I will keep you posted.

How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills
scone replied to Wendell Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think I am having trouble with the spasms. One day i am fine and the next day i am throwing up spit. They watched it under xray yesterday and the barium went down fine until the last part then it tightened up. All they did was take out .4cc's. Now I feel no restriction. -
okay, here is my problem. I have been having the worst time achieving restriction. They fill it up then the next day i am throwing up spit and they take a little back out but in a week I am eating way too much. I was banded 4/20/07 and have only lost 9 lbs. I had another adjustment on 12/4. Everything has been fine and was actually starting to see the weight loss. But now, starting Sunday I have not been able to get anything down except liquids. But now today, I am back to throwing up my spit. Should I wait it out and see if it loosens? This is so frustrating. Too tight, too loose. This is so picky!!!!!!!!!!:help:

I was banded 4/20/07 and have only lost 10 lbs. I just can't seem to get my restriction right. I have had 5 fills already and am at 2.3cc. They put me up to 2.5 and I threw up the whole weekend. Couldn't even get my spit down. They took .2 back out but now two weeks later I can tell I have lost my restriction again. I am getting very discouraged. If I go back up to 2.5 I slime and PB but at 2.3 I feel little restriction. Very strange. Anyone have a suggestion or the similar problem? -
I was banded 4/07 and have had three fills. I go in tomorrow for my fourth. With the first two fills I really felt no restriction but with the third I did. My question is do you ever feel full? I usually stop eating because it starts to hurt not because I feel full so once I stop hurting in an hour I am right back eating again. Thanks for any help and guidance. Stacie

Thanks for the replies. That really helps answer a lot of questions.

No. I never feel anything in my throat. Just a pain in my chest. Once you have proper restriction does it always hurt? In the mornings I am pretty tight that even my coffee feels like it is struggling to go down.

I had gas for a long time. Once I started eating mushy foods the gas would come back everytime. Kept me from eating much that is for sure. It was so high in my shoulders there was no way it could find it's way down south. lol

Hi from TX...let me introduce myself!
scone replied to mommytokk's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My daughter goes to Dana's Gym in Santa Fe. I heard LA Fitness and 24 Hour Fitness were both opening there. I am new to message boards as well so I put my number on the private message. This kind of stuff should really go on the private since it is not lap band info people are interested in. -

Hi Stacie! Nice to talk with you! How are you feeling now? Each day gets better. Still sore at the port site. You are off to a great start! I am having my surgery at Park PlacePark Plaza. I had my daughter there. Only because Allison came through and flooded Hermann Hospital. (Park Plaza? Park Something!) Did you have any special pre-op diet? I was supposed to follow the low carb, low fat but I couldn't. I ate like a pig for two weeks. What kind of foods are you eating now? I am still on Clear Liquids but can have cream Soups and applesauce tomorrw. Is it hard to find things to eat while at work or when eating out? I haven't been out to eat yet. I just bring a Protein shake for Breakfast and chicken broth for lunch and a Jello every now and then. I have found myself drinking alot of coffee. I keep getting these pains in my chest like heartburn. It sort of feels like I need to burp but it won't come up. Especially after I eat. When is your 1st fill? My first fill is not until 6 weeks. Reading all this stuff about people having problems after a fill is freaking me out. Did you read about sliming and PB? Did you go back to work soon after your surgery? I am scheduled on a Friday, and plan to go back on Tuesday. I had surgery on a Friday and came back Monday but it was too soon. I left after lunch and stayed home Tuesday. Yesterday was my first full day at work. It is uncomfortable but tolerable. My bra hits right were my port site is when I sit due to a fat roll. Hopefully that will go away soon. Today I am down two more pounds. I ahve not really missed food that much if I stay away from people eating giant barbque baked potatoes and brownies in front of me. And are you doing any walking or anything?I am not a big fan of exercise so I haven't started doing that yet. I belong to Curves but plan on joining LA Fitness when it opens up at Bay Colony. Maybe we could be start together. I know it is hard with kids to find time to work out. My daughter has gymnastics on Wednesday's and my husband does shift work so when he is on nights I have to get the kids and exercise is out of the question. Maybe LA Fitness will have a daycare center. Better get back to work for a while. talk to you soon. -

Hi Kathy, my name is Stacie. I am 37 with two kids ages 3 and 5. Oh yeah, and a husband. I live just south of you in Santa Fe. I was banded by Dr Hollis last Friday 4/20. I have lost 12 lbs since friday. The first day was real rough. Sooo much gas pain. I was sick to my stomach. Are you going to the Surgicenter of Houston off of S. Main? I know Dr. Spivek uses that facility sometomes. That is where I went. I work in Clear Lake at JSCFCU. We should keep in touch. Good luck with your surgery. -
Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?
scone replied to whosthatgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Mine was two weeks of low fat, low carb, low cal. If I could stick to that I wouldn't be needing the band. lol. I ate like it was the last time I was going to. No holds barred. Surgery went fine on 4/20/07. -
I went through the same thing before my band. I was banded 4/20/07. I felt like it was the last time I was going to get to eat so I didn't follow the pre-op diet. My last meal the day before my surgery consisted of Fettucine Alfredo with garlic bread and a big coke. Nothing after midnight of course.

Please Help I cannot take it!!!!
scone replied to michelletur's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My problem is I can't burp. I feel it needing to come out but just pain and then it goes away for a while. Any ideas for that? -
Hi. My name is Stacie. I was banded 4/20/07. Just looking for others that have had the same experience so I will know what to expect in the upcoming months. I weighed 230 when I got the band and am already down to 220 but I am getting very hungry. Looking for some good recipes and some do's and don'ts as far as what to eat.

Do any of you get pains in your upper chest? It's almost like i need to burp and I can't. Also, how long before you went back to work? I tried Monday but just can't stay vertical that long.
