Simply Awesome! -
I wish I could say I understand. I have never lived through what you are right now so I won't say I understand why something like this would happen. But I do thank God that it was found! I am praying for you that this turns out well for you. *Hugs* I know you may feel alone, and we are only people on computers talking through this forum, but you have people rooting for you, cheering for you and praying for you. Know how you feel! The day after my surgery I had jumped up 10 pounds from all the effects from the surgery. Don't worry though it'll pass. Trust me on that! Welcome to the Loser's Bench!

June 2012 Sleevers Post Op Check In
DadTo2 replied to robin33's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Nine days post op and I decided to start up my exercise routine that I was doing before I was sleeved. I had been biking anywhere from 5 to 9 miles at a time and when I walked I was actually up to about 5 miles and increasing! So I walked. In the Texas heat. With water. I'm 2 minutes off my pace walking, and only got 3 miles in before turning back to the house. I get 3.46 miles in, in 1:02:56. I feel slow and really out of the shape I was getting into. The only weird things were that I felt I guess gas during the last portion of my walk, but I was taking in water ok. Here's a link to my route: http://www.mapmyfitness.com/workout/144945533 -
Congrats! What a way to go back to work! Also, be prepared for the shock your coworkers will have at seeing the newer you! Great to hear this!

The symptoms you were experiencing come very close to heat exhaustion! Did you at any time stop sweating? I actually had those symptoms about 12 years ago working in a warehouse job in Texas and was diagnosed with heat exhaustion. Are you sure you're getting enough Water and other fluids in? Please make sure you are, especially if you live in a hot environment like we have here in Texas during the summer (sorry, not sure where you're at). Also, if you're not feeling any better after your nap, be sure to get checked out! Take care. Eric

Here's to a successful surgery for both of you along with a speedy, healthy recovery with no complications! You'll both have prayer coverage. You both have seats on the Loser's bench waiting for you! eric

How Are All The June Sleevers Doing Since Surgery?:
DadTo2 replied to Addison's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Two items for me: one, I started full liquids today, so the first thing I had this morning was a Protein shake, or rather two ounces of a Protein Shake. I think perhaps I may have made it too thick, or I may have issues with downing a full portion. I'll have to see and talk to my wife about her experience. The other thing is that I think I may have popped a stitch this morning while picking a zucchini from our garden! Real sharp pain that has moved to a dull ache every now and then. Not serious I think (I have my one week follow up today so I will ask) but it's a reminder that I am not fully healed yet! My best advice so far is to be careful on bending over! Eric -
Had My Last Test Today -- The Dreaded Endoscopy!
DadTo2 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All, I got back from the hospital a while ago after having my endoscopy and am feeling better after finally having something to drink and eat. Well, drink mostly. I have to say that having the procedure at 5PM and not being able to drink for that long a period of time...ugh. The good news is that there appears to be nothing wrong on initial view from the doctor who performed the procedure. There were some polyps he found and have been sent off for testing, but he wasn't worried about them, so I won't be either. Tomorrow marks 14 days until my surgery. Tomorrow also starts my pre-op diet. All the tests are over for me. Bring on my new life! Eric -

Granted, I'm only a week post op, but here's what I did and it seems to be working fine. I'm a desk jockey (software engineer) and I took a half day off on Monday, had my surgery on Tuesday, off Wed and Thurs, and I am working from home (one of the luxuries of my profession) from this past Friday to when I return on July 2nd to the office. As long as you are able to get your post op diet in while working, and you're feeling up to it (sometimes there is a fatigue factor as my wife experienced after she was sleeved), you would probably be able to do the half days for that time period, but if there's anyway to work from home at all, that to me anyway is the best solution.

How Much Liquids Is Too Much?
DadTo2 replied to innerme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So far my experience is pretty good. I was sleeved June 19, and am still on Clear Liquids until Wednesday. I have a rather pleasant "Pressure" is the best way for me to say it in my pouch when I have enough liquids in. It's not an uncomfortable "too full" feeling at all. Now I can tell you that when I take too big a sip, I do get some air in and that usually results in a good burp for me. I am taking in right now about 48 to 50 ounces a day of liquids without any issue whatsoever. Just to break that down, I'm usually taking in around 6 to 8 ounces at a time during the times I drink and that is over a period of maybe 10 minutes at most. I'm having no issues with Protein (drinking IsoPure) and am drinking a variety of clear liquids. (I hate boredom) Eric -
It's really not that bad at all. I had to have one before my sleeve and to be honest I didn't know what to expect. They brought me into the room showed me everything, explained what everything was for and then I was put under. 20 minutes later I was waking up in recovery with a very dry and a little bit of a sore throat, but it was fine. Word of advice is do not drink very fast right after the procedure though! LOL Trust me on this, this is a piece of cake. Eric

Congratulations!!! That is really great news!

I'm doing well. I dropped another 3.1 pounds since yesterday bringing the total loss to 41 pounds since I started this whole thing. I have a feeling the weight loss will start slowing way down though. I believe a lot of what I am losing is "water" or Fluid weight. And I'm losing inches! My clothes are very loose so perhaps it's time to go shopping soon! (sorry, I happen to be a guy who likes to shop ) Fluid intake is steady, I'm taking in anywhere from 6 to 7 ounces an hour without issue, and I am so ready to start chewing again! I am very glad to hear you're doing so well. Thanks for asking about me. Eric
