  1. Panniculectomy of my stomach is covered by my insurance, but it will not cover a tummy tuck because it is considered cosmetic. I will never show anyone my stomach and I have no intention over ever wearing a bikini because in my mind I always look like I did before I lost over 100 pounds. My BMI is now 24. Has anyone just done the Panniculectomy without the tummy tuck? Were you happy with the results? Thanks for the insight.
  2. I had my gall bladder removed at almost 5 months post-op. I thought this surgery was worse than the vsg surgery. My weight loss has slowed down, but I also think that is because now I am eating pretty regular again just small amounts. I am down 95 pounds since April and I am happy with my results. I never had any attacks because I showed stones on a sono so they just scheduled me to have it out. Good luck!
  3. I definitely still want cheeseburgers, but there is no way that I can fit more than a few bites down
  4. I posted this topic 6 months ago and I never ended up cheating - even though it was so hard not to! Yesterday, I had my 6 month post-op weigh in and I am down 80 pounds. Good luck to everyone!

    ~April Sleevers~

My spouse is having his sleeve done tomorrow. I am hoping by January, no one will recognize either of us lol I had my gall bladder out 3 weeks ago and so far, no problems. Hope all of my April sleevers are doing well =)
  6. So as a mom of two girls, we tend to have pizza once a week for dinner. The girls love to snack on popcorn too. And to boot, this week was a bake sale at school where I had to make brownies. Just out of c curiosity, at what point will I be able to have a bite of any of those items? I am 3 weeks post-op and doing a liquid diet so I guess I am still daydreaming about regular food

    Life After Sleeve

After the surgery, they did put compression things on my legs to prevent the clots. I had to take them on and off when I wanted to get up and walk. The first day I needed help getting them on and off, but after that I was able to do it myself. I am sure the hospital you will be at will have them too.

    11 Days Off Work Enough?

She may be on to something here because I didnt cheat on my pre-op either and was walking as soon as I got out of the hospital too and had no issues. So maybe this will do the trick =)

    Life After Sleeve

I think your concerns are valid and common. I always get sick from anesthesia and so I kind of expected it with my sleeve surgery (and I threw up for almost an entire day after I had my sleeve). It was awful! Blood clots are scary too which is why you have to get up and out of that bed to walk around. I am so happy with the sleeve and a few months from now, you will not even be thinking about all the what ifs. Good luck to you.

    11 Days Off Work Enough?

I took one week off after the surgery, but the day after I was out of the hospital I felt fine and was out doing my thing (at a slower pace of course lol). I think everyone is different. I have also had 2 c-sections that I felt fine with afterward so I think maybe my body was used to surgery. Good luck to you =)

    ~April Sleevers~

I walk a few times a week, but my doctor says I should be doing actual exercise. I probably will start kickboxing again next week. I do not get enough protein in. I do eat carbs and sugar, but everything in very small amounts. I am down 67 pounds and went from a size 22 to a size 12.

    Bypass Or Sleeve

I eat whatever I want, but in small portions. I would be miserable if I only could eat yogurt and protein bars. @UTGAL99 - great reasons for choosing the sleeve!

    Bypass Or Sleeve

I definitely love my sleeve and I love to eat. However, with the sleeve it is impossible for me to overeat. I simply cannot get it down.

    Gallstones?

Just had a sono last week and my doctor said I have gall stones. I will be 4 months post on the 2nd of August. I am scheduled to have my gall bladder out August 23. I definitely do NOT want to have an attack or emergency surgery. Hope you feel better!

    Is It Just Me?

Go for the first date available. The sooner you get through the start of this procedure, the closer you will be to happiness. The pre and immediate post-op diets suck, but as soon as you get back to regular food, you will be soooo happy you did it =) Good luck!
  18. Thanks for the reply!
  19. Do you think that the same plan (weight lifting as opposed to doing cardio) would work for a woman? Thanks =)

    Shapewear? Help!

I know that QVC sells Spanx. Not sure if they deliver to Canada? Good luck =)

    One Week Post-Op

I had the same post-op plan and it was torture!! I am almost 2 months out now and I started to eat regular food without any issues (with the exception of some foods that I was told I cannot eat until 4 months or 6 months out). I feel your pain I tried to keep myself as busy as possible so I wouldnt think about it. The restrictive eating thing is probably more of a mental thing than a physical thing, but it still was so hard for me to wrap my mind around that. Good luck!
  22. I always find the "cheating" topic interesting because it seems that there are so many different post-op diets. What is considered cheating on a doctor's orders, may not be considered cheating on another doctor's orders. For me, my doctor insists that we do not eat anything but broth, protein shakes, and water the first 4 weeks. Then week 5, we can try cottage cheese, mozzarella, and greek yogurt. On Week 6, we are allowed mushy food. But, when I see what other members post as to their diet, it seems that I should be able to do mushy foods by at least 3 weeks. That is just so annoying to me because I want to eat darn it! Anyways, I guess at this point there is nothing that we can responsibly do except follow what the instructions are. I would definitely not have the guts to cheat on the first week though =)

    Starting The Journey

Congratulations on deciding to do what you think will make your life improve. I just got sleeved 4 weeks ago tomorrow and I am very happy so far. I also have 2 small children at home. I would say that by one week post-op, I was back to normal at home with the exception of needing help with diaper changes on my 2 year old because we are not supposed to lift until 4 - 6 weeks post-op. Good luck and best wishes to you!
