I had the sleeve done 4-12, and had lots of complications. My dr didn't check for leaks before hosp discharge and I was back in a week to ER. They gave me fld and the next day dr to me I had a spleen infarction and sent me home. The next week I was back in ER very sick. For 3 days the dr and radiologist argues if it was a leak or pneumonia, finally deciding both. They placed a drain in and doing so they punctured my lung. The next day they put in a chest tube to re-inflate my lung, but in doing so they drug infection from the leak into my Lung and caused an encapsulated pneumonia. I ended up having a thorancotomy (decortication) leaving me with 2 chest tubes, feeding me with TPN, and in hosp for 25 days! Well, now I'm out of hosp, been out 3 weeks and I had a EGD and he clamped a "ulcer/pocket" 2 weeks ago and I am suppost to pass this clamp in a few weeks. Anyway... I am so nauseated and weak. Every time I eat anything I sweat profusely and I can only get a few bites down. Is this sweating reaction normal? I know I said a lot to get here. But I don't know if my body is still sick, or if this is a normal reaction in the beginning of the sleeve process. I really want to get a second opinion. Any response will be appreciated, thanks.

P.s. called about getting a second opinion in Edmond ( closest bariatric place) and they need operation reports, ect before they will decide to give me an appt.

I am sweating, but I don't think this is dumping, because I am not having any of the other symptoms that were listed. By the way, I live in OKC and this dr is the main dr for Integris. I can't say more because I want to pursue legally. I tried to get an appt today to see why I am still feeling so bad, and I was put on hold, then told I needed to get my fld and protein and let them know of any changes. I was appalled!! Of course I know these things!! I have been trying to do all the right things. I asked why I wasn't tolerating wk, put on hold again and then told I could go back parttime or not, either way just send them the paperwork. NO. NO appt for me!! They wouldn't Give me an appt!! I am so angry. Called a lawyer.

How do I find out about this gustatory sweating? Is there a website?

Well, I hate to say it but the hospital is where I work! The hospital isn't at fault, but the dr is. While I was there I think other fellow nurses wanted to say run from him, but couldn't because they work there, too. I know I need to call a lawyer, but I have to still see this dr until I get better, if I see another one it will be out of network and at my expense. I forgot to tell you the worst part. When I was questing him about my symptoms, he said ( and I quote)" this procedure was your choice darling." I really just wanted to know if anyone experienced sweating when they ate.

I don't know if I'd call it hot flashes, but I definantly have been hot, cold, hot, cold. One minute I'm freezing, put a jacket on, then the next 10 minutes I'm sweating! Can't get regulated! I feel you on this one. I'm wondering if it has to do with not eating??

I had the sleeve 4-12, but had major complications and just got out of the hosp last week. Needless to say I am 6 wks out but still on liquids for 1 more week. Help!! I am so sick of sweet liquids, I have noticed i have now given up and not eating much. Any ideas to help with protein and intake that isn't protein shakes and jello?

Thank you so much. I will get some unflavored protein powder, which I haven't tried yet. Also I never thought about adding stuff to crystal light. Thanks for the ideas.

Thanks! I just want to be informed about everything, and although this seems to be the most common problem, I cant find definite answers to my questions about it. I had no idea about a spleen infartc either, so I am learning a lot!

That was written with so much heart and soul. I love it and plan to show it to my husband who is still struggling with his feelings about this surgery. He is supportive, but scared of losing me. This says what I feel of so well.

I dont remember an xray but i was in recovery for several hours. I dont think i have a leak. I just tried to research everything and couldnt find those symptoms. I did learn today i have a spleen infartc and fld on my left lung and this is what is causing all the pain!

No, more like stomach ache like after the flu. I had 101.5 temp and spent night in ER. Dehydrated and high WBC count. Infection i guess. Another thing is i think i have pleurisy, myeft lung is killing me when i take a deep breath.

I am now 7 days out as well! Liquids are going down better but not as easy as i thought they would. The main prob i have now is waking up with a bad stomach ache. I dont know if i am sleeping wrong. I was wondering if you or anyone else if experiencing this? I have been using tylenol mostly since monday, but have to take lortab elix when this happens! I am almost out of the med, so i hope this resolves soon! I do take a lot of meds for lupus, and i havent gotten much down but protein drinks and liquids,

Please forgive my drug influenced spelling!! Today was better. I have been taking pills 2 at time with a few min inbetween. Started tylenol yesterday and feel better, not so mush brained! I am lucky no to have to take too many pills (7) and no pain meds, only relafen on a normal basis. I did have to stop cellcept a month before but not feeling too bad with that. I always think when u do something to your body like too much activity, sun, or surgery, wct you take chance of flare-up, but it's worth it. Just follow all rules. I tell myself it's only a temporary situation to get me to a permanent goal! Good luck on thursday, i put you on my prayer list and would like to keep up with all of us auto immuners.

I was sleeved 4/12. I have lupis and have been on steroid rollercoaters off and on since '97. This is the main reason i chose to do WLS. How are u doing taking all your meds when you have to sip? My med are making my stomach queezy, but i am doing better. I am 3 days out, mostly i have a feeling in my esophagus of tightness or like thinhs are moy going down easy.

I also work nights and my eating habit are all over the place. I have never been much o a drinker of flds so that will be a challenge. Since we have the same day surgery, i am praying for all to go well with you, also. Good luck and i would love to keep up with all your changes!

I am having it 4-12 also. I am not so nervous, but i havent told many people. Waiting till after so i dont have to hear anyone doubt me. I m looking forward to size8 clothes! Or anything smaller than 18! I started pre-op diet monday and today was the worst! I miss chewing, also! I usually go for sweets, but it seems that all i am getting are sweets, or milky drinks! I could use some salt or crunch, but alas... All will be worth it!
