Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
Lauranbob Mc replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I never had heartburn a day in my life before the surgery. after surgery I had to sleep sitting up it was so bad. My Dr put me on dexilant once a day. (expensive but if you have insurance and there is a card out there right now that you only have to pay a $20 co-pay for the first year) Heartburn is totally gone. LOVE IT -
Immediately After Surgery
Lauranbob Mc replied to krenee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
for me it wasn't the pain. I stopped taking pain medication after the 2nd day. It was the nausea that kept me in the hospital for 4 days. I couldn't keep anything down. I was so dehydrated for the first week even with them giving me IV fluid boluses. The pain was more muscle sorenes like you had a really hard workout and over did it just a bit. -

Just Started Soft Foods And I Feel Like I Screw Up Everytime I Eat!
Lauranbob Mc replied to LTARLTON's topic in Food and Nutrition
if you have it on your phone you can scan the bar code which I find is easier. you can also change the portion size so if it says 1oz click on it and hit .5 and then it become a 1/2 of an ounce. right now I weight & measure everything. I actually have a drawer of the most common foods and I have kept the labels & barcodes to make it easier. it is a process and you will find the right one that fits your needs but I would right it down as soon as it hit your mouth. -

Just Started Soft Foods And I Feel Like I Screw Up Everytime I Eat!
Lauranbob Mc replied to LTARLTON's topic in Food and Nutrition
I am a control freak also. started musing myfitnesspal.com to log all my food & exercise in. I was doing it pen & paper then I changed since it had an APP for my phone. it works really well. and it gives you a pie chart at the end of the day or week showing what % of protein, fats & carbs were eaten. Do not force yourself to eat more than your body is telling you to eat. some days you will be able to eat 3 oz of deli turkey and other times I can barley get an ounce in. my protein is my first priority. and if I dont have enough protein for the day (i drink one smoothie in the morning) I get to have eggfaces high protein ice cream (my savior). good luck -
if you have a sams club near you they have this chicken sausage with mozzarella & roasted garlic. OMG too die for and I ate it while on mushies. (chew it really well, very moist and peel the casing off before you eat it) It is higher in calories & fat that I normally eat I allow myself once a week. either have it with mustard, or plain. I never finish the whole link. last night i grilled it with some mushy brussel sprouts. I ate 3/4 of the link and one sprout. I am still in the " I will never be able to eat the same way again" phase. But i'm adjusting. made a low sugar/carb barbeque sauce and made shredded BBQ chicken for dinner (no bun) Texans need their bbq :-) good luck. I am craving a salad with sweet grape tomato's . I can wait for fresh veggies again!! OH another thing you can try is crab. go to joe's crab shack and enjoy. (dont use the butter use cocktail sauce if needed) crab is high in protein and super mushy

So I found this recipe today and made it. I didnt use the bacon and instead of Water I used really strong decaf tea. I also could not find low carb ketchup so I used reduced sugar from Heinz. I let it simmer on my stove for an hour or two till it reduced to 2 cups of finished product. each 2T portion has 16 Calories, 3 carbs, 1g Protein and 2g sugar. I like a dark molasses sweet barbeque sauce so I added some extra splenda. compared to Kraft BBQ sauce which has 15g carbs and 13g of sugar per serving. I think this is a new winner !! enjoy !! Ingredients: 2 strips of thick bacon, chopped fine (or see note) 1 small onion, minced 1 clove garlic, minced or 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1 small can (6 oz) tomato paste 1 can (12 oz) diet (sugar-free) cola - Splenda-sweetened preferred 1/4 cup low carb (sugar-free) catsup, (or see note) 3 T mustard 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1 pinch ground cloves Hot sauce to taste Preparation: Note 1: If you prefer to leave the bacon out, add 1-3 teaspoons of liquid smoke, to taste, near the end of the cooking. Alternatively, add some smoky flavor using 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika, or chipotle powder to taste. Note 2: If you can't find low carb catsup, leave it out, but add about a tablespoon of vinegar and some sweetener, to taste. 1) Fry the bacon in a saucepan - a 2 qt pan works well. 2) Add the onion and cook over medium until soft - 3-5 minutes. Add garlic at this point if you're using fresh and stir it for half a minute or so. 3) Add the rest of the ingredients, plus about half a cup of water. Stir well. 4) Simmer for 20-30 minutes. It will cook down a bit and flavors will combine. 5) Adjust the seasonings so you have the balance you want - you can add vinegar, artificial sweetener (liquid preferred), or hot sauce. (If it's too hot, adding more sweetener will tone it down.) The recipe makes approximately 10 servings of 1/4 cup each. Each serving has about 3.5 grams of carbohydrate plus 1 gram of fiber.

Readily Available Sources Of High Protein Foods
Lauranbob Mc replied to DesertRat's topic in Food and Nutrition
in & out burger will do a low carb burger - no bun wrapped in lettuce. wendy's chili, I travel for work and am having the same troublle. I end up going to the grocery store and bringing stuff back to my hotel room -
saw them in the store today but I didnt buy them due to the fact that they had 24g of carbs per serving. I did find tollhouse flatbread crisps and they have half the carbs.

so I bought zumba last week and have done it 3 times since it arrived. I am only on the step by step video and at first I was only able to get thru half of it. Today I did the whole video. Not as enthusiastic as them but I did it. Tommow I start on that actual video !!!

I seriously went and looked at every archived blog that she had and started printing out all the recipies. Took me some time but so worth it. another way is she has a search link and add the ingredient you want there and recipies will pop up. LOVE HER!!!

I love eggfaces ricotta bake. went down nice aand easy. also hard parmesan cheese has 10 G of protein in it per ounce :-) Calorie wise it is higher but sometimes you need the protein. also crab meat was a savior. really mushy and high in protein. fish also. I could only eat an ounce at a time and was constantly reheating my food and adding more pepper & garllic (nothing tastes the same) it will get better.

Lauranbob Mc replied to alwadi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
fried adds extra fat & calories that are high in saturated fats (artery clogging) No bueno. If you are craving fried food. to to oven fry but even that I would only do on special occasions -

2-Weeks Out - What Do I Eat?!
Lauranbob Mc replied to Isabel'sGma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lived on crab meat... :-) also fish is very flakey and easy to mash up. Carrots ( fork mashed) , canned peaches packed in water. turkey meatballs (homemade) with homemade marinara sauce (less carbs and sugar than jar kind) and of course I can not forget my high protein ice cream which has been my sweet tooth life saver.
