Hello Ginger and Deb24...congratulations to both of you....I was banded on 4/6/07...It has been three weeks and two days since my surgery...Really and truly...the pain is not that bad....you will be uncomfortable for a few days, but the pain is not really that bad...You will have pain medication to take..and I took mine......I was on pain medication for first 4 or 5 days...I also had to have a hernia repaired....some of the pain I felt was from that...you will be more sore than anything...the port site is a little more sore than the other, but that will pass...I felt so much better after about a week....the gas pain you will feel in your chest, and left arm...take liquid gas-x and walk, walk, walk...as soon as they let you get up ....start walking...that will help to relieve the gas pains...good luck...and don't worry..you will be fine...but...take it easy for the first few days and don't lift anything heavy...and please follow the doctors orders to the "t"....don't do anything that he didn't say you could do...eating or anything else....just relax and take it easy for a few days...you will be fine...let us know how you are doing...I am excited for both of you.... Di

Big As Life replied to Lucygirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you were off to a pretty good start..I didn't do anything but liquids for the first two weeks after surgery....the broth just tasted bad to me, so I pretty much did little sips of water for the first couple of days...and then I started little sips of broth, but after about 3 days I started drinking slim fast...4 oz's at a time....did this for 2 weeks... -
I am 54 years old...was banded two weeks and three days before my 54th birthday...I feel great....

Surgery in 11 days, nervous is an understatement!!
Big As Life replied to dawnc27wa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone goes thru what you are going thru....I was so nervous...I really hated the thought of that tube being put down my throat, but I slept thru it all...never knew when they put it in and didn't know when they took it out....the meds in IV are wonderful...just take a little nap...and you will wake up and it is all over....you will be fine....let us know....great bunch of people here to answer your questions or just lend an ear to listen if you are not feeling so well.... Six days 'til sugery....
Big As Life replied to Bullwinkle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honey, You are so normal...I was so nervous...I kept thinking that something would go wrong and I wouldn't be able to have my surgery....I wanted it so bad, but at the same time I was just scared to death....I had even gone thru open-heart surgery, and I was more nervous about the lapband than open heart....It will be fine...and you will be so glad you have been banded...after it was over, I just kept saying, its over...its really over...I have my band....now three weeks from surgery, I am feeling better each and everyday...good luck...and let us know how you are ....you have a great group of people here that are ready to be your support, anytime... I had the same stabbing pains...that is just the port incision...I was so scared that something was wrong...the pain will go away after a few days...it does hurt to roll over in bed or if you set up the wrong way...it will get better...I had a rash on my stomach, it went away after a few days...just be careful not to lift anything ..and just be real careful turning over and moving about...just take it easy for the first week...it has only been 5 days since your surgery...you still have lots of swelling in your stomach...it will get better...just relax and try to take it easy.... How long does it take to recover?
Big As Life replied to Lisa H's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my surgery on Friday and could return to work on Thursday....I have a desk job... -
All I can say is...I paid 15,000.00 dollars to have this procedure and I am going to follow the diet and doctors orders to the letter....I can't afford to mess this up....I can't afford to have another surgery....each to his or her own....whatever one does after the surgery is up to them...but...for me...I am sticking to the plan...
