Hello Robin....welcome to LBT...this is a great place to be...You can get so much info...if it is before your surgery, or after....everyone is really great .....lots of good caring people....welcome to the site...and congratulations on your new journey.... I am Diann from Texas....I was banded on 4/6/07 and have lost 27 lbs...I will get my first fill on 5/17/07...so as you can see, I have not been banded to long...I was a self-pay..so I went in on Monday and started two week liquid diet on that Friday and had surgery two weeks later...when you self pay, you don't have to wait for long..they get you in and boom, it is done...So glad that I was banded....I couldn't be happier.... Once again....welcome....

I think you are just feeling guilty...I wouldn't think your doctor is going to chew you out..You are an adult...He will probably just get you back on track and give you a little pep talk....remember, he wants you to succeed....so....don't be afraid...just go in and start on a new journey...but....please don't cancel your next appt....

After reading your post, I don't understand how you are overweight....You work out and you eat no junk food...maybe your calorie intake is high, but if you are burning it off, looks like you would be thin....you mentioned taking meds, could your meds be making you gain weight?

Wow...you have to be on liquid diet for two months after surgery?...Your doctor is strict....I had to be on liquid for two weeks after the surgery..and two weeks before the surgery....

You have waited a long time...I hope that your surgery will be soon....and welcome to LBT...this is really an awesome group...I am so glad to be able to come here to vent my frustration, or just to read and reply to the post....

Tesma, I drink all decaf....the nurse said that the caffeine will cause you to dehydrate...so ....I have not had any caffeine for 6 weeks and 4 days...but who is counting..lol.....I really don't miss it...I do fine with decaf..... Someday, I plan on having a cookie...just not the whole bag of Cookies...

Congratulations on your surgery...hope you are feeling better each and everyday....I had to go thru Easter on clear liquids...I had a cup of broth, when everyone else was having ham , potato salad, baked beans, green salad, and so many deserts...but I just sipped my broth....and kept thinking of how good it would feel to be thin....

I just told my husband that I wanted to have this surgery, and I did....I had to self-pay, so that was another issue....He had no problem with it..he said if that is what I wanted to do, then I should do it....He is soooooo supportive...he has helped me every step of the way....He wouldn't eat in front of me, when I was on the liquid diet...he didn't want the food to tempt me...He has really been great...

Yes, I can....I remember how sore I was after my tubes were tied, and to me ...it is close to the same.....the only difference....when the tubes were tied, I only had one incision...with the lapband, I have six incisions...It took me a few more days to get over the lapband...but...I am 54 years old....and when I had my tubes tied, I was 23 years old....The pain is not that bad...you are more uncomfortable than anything....you are not in screaming pain....you will be very sore and it will hurt to move around those first few days, but then you will start to feel better....and you will have meds ....that will take care of you pain...

My insurance company just out and out refused to pay for anything that has to do with obesity....Makes me so mad....but...I decided to self-pay and so glad I did....It is going to being so worth it...it already is...

Okay, I did have some fears....not that the ban would not work, but that I wouldn't be able to have it done....trust me...the ban will work, but you need to work with it....it is a tool... You will still need to work...You will have to make good choices, but it is easier after you have been banded...I only eat 1/2 cup of food per meal...no snacking between meals, no eating food with empty calories, i.e. Cookies, ice-cream, etc....I am not saying that I will never eat another cookie, or ice-cream, but I have to make good choices...to eat healthy and to exercise...all I do for exercise is walk on treadmill, one mile a day...and I use light weights for my arms.... I think everyone has the idea that once you are banded you will never be able to eat again...you can eat....you just can't eat large portions...you will learn portion control...I have never thrown up from the band, but I have seen others post that some have thrown up... from over-eating or the band being to tight....I just know that for me, the band is working great....I have not had my first fill, so it might be different after that..I may get sick....but I know that I am going to do everything I can to succeed... I wish you both all the luck in the world...I hope you will see that the band is something that will help you lose the weight and keep it off...

well I can't help you with the doctors on Long Island, and I have only been banded since 4/6/07, but I do wish you all the luck in the world and welcome to the LBT site...there are so many people in here that can probably help you....they are caring people that will be glad to share any info they have...I find it such a comfort to come here and read the post..and replies....Wish I would have known about the site before I had the surgery....sure would have answered lots of questions that I had...

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Hope all goes well for you....and yes, it is a lot of work to get the surgery done....especially if you are having to go thru the insurance company for payment....I did self-pay, but still had to do a few things...

I love this site...I found it after I had my band put on in 4/07 and I wish I would have known about it before the surgery...there are so many good tips for all that have already been banded, or for those that are going to be banded...I love the group...I am going to the support group on the 14th, and I am going to tell them about this site, just in case they are not aware of it being here....

I sleep on my right side...use to sleep on left side, but with the port on that side, it is more comfortable to sleep on the right side....

Kelli, Don't be afraid of the eating after the band....It is not bad...I was banded on 4/6/07 and I am now eating regular foods...I can only eat 1/2 cup per meal, but that is plenty...I will have my first fill on 5/17/07....you don't want to eat after the band...oh, you get hungry, but I can't eat more than a 1/2 cup...I eat three meals a day and drink liquids(water) in between....No snacks, and no eating between meals....I am sticking to this diet....the lap band is a very good tool, it makes me behave....

It is your port...I was so scared when I felt that...I called the doctors office and talked to the nurse....I thought something had ruptured...she laughed and laughed....and said , "Honey, that is your port"...I get really wigged out over all of this...I am so scared of doing something wrong...I just need to relax and enjoy the band...

My daughter has to do this, and they just wanted documentation from any source that shows her weight...everytime she went to the doctor, they weighed her, so that is documentation....

Wow, welcome to all the newbies....that is great to see so many people interested in being banded and the new ones that have been banded, recently.... I was banded on 4/6/07....I was required to go on liquid diet two weeks pre-op and then two weeks post -op....I have lost a total of 27 lbs..I will have my first fill on 5/17/07.... My surgery was a self-pay...15,000.00 but worth every penny...I had my surgery done at a surgery center here in my hometown...I was taken back for surgery around 9:00 and was home by 11:30..so 2 1/2 hours total....I did just fine...little soreness, but nothing major...I also had a hernia repaired at the same time I was lapbanded....I am so glad I had this surgery done...I couldn't be happier...I have been a bit anxious at times, only because I am so afraid I will do something wrong...I eat what I am told to eat, and I don't eat, what I have been told not to eat!!! I follow the diet to the letter....after paying 15,000.00 out of my pocket, you can bet I will do everything possible to be a success....
