Betty, I pray that your insurance will cover this...sounds like you have lots of health problems, so maybe they will agree to cover this...that would be great.... Don't beat yourself up over past mistakes...we have all been where you are....I have lost and gained and lost and gained...If I had a penny for every diet and every pound I have lost, it would have paid for my surgery.... Good luck to you...I hope all goes well...

Aloha Dave, Congrats on your decision to have the lapband...and welcome to LBT... I am fifty-four years old, and this is the best thing I have ever done for myself...I was banded on 4/6/07 and had first fill on 5/17/07..I have lost 30 lbs....I couldn't be happier... Good luck to you...I hope all goes well....

Please help, where to start?
Big As Life replied to somethingelse's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I started out going to the seminar first....then once I had the info I needed, I made appointment with the docotor that had the seminar...then I had them check with my insurance co., to see if they would pay for the surgery..I was denied...for two years I went back and forth on trying to make my decision...finally, I decided I would do the self-pay...made another appt and went in to see the doctor and was told to start two week liquid diet on the upcoming Friday(this was on Monday) and then two weeks later I would have the surgery...Boom...it was all set up and I was ready to go...best decision I have ever made... Good luck to you...I hope that all goes well.... -
Wow...after reading all of these post I feel like I need to get busy...I love a nice clean house...I can't rest until I have the house at least picked up...I can't stand dirty dishes in my sink or on my counters...I want my bed made shortly after gettting out of it...I try to do a load of clothes , everyday..I want everything put up...I am bad about putting things away and then forgetting where I put them....my dh will leave something out on table, and I come behind him and put it up, just can't remember where I put it...that is a very sore subject with us...I have tried to tell him to put his things away, and I wouldn't have to..then he would know where it is....I recently cleaned out a storage area in my den and put everything of his in one cabinet...now, he knows where his shoes are, his golf magazines, his car magazines, and anything that is his...the cabinet is just for his stuff...I have my own cabinet....this helps me...It is only the two of us here in this big ole house...

Cathi, Congrats on your up-coming anniversary of being cancer free....I pray that you will continue to do well.... The band is a wonderful tool....It keeps me from eating to much...that has always been my problem...I can eat nearly anything I want, just not a lot of it...I eat a half a cup per meal...three meals a day...no in between snacking....I love the band...it is the best thing I have ever done... -
I can go out to eat and order whatever I want...I just can't eat more than a half of cup for the meal....This is really not a big problem....
-
Alysa, I guess you can find foods to eat on the run....You will just have to find time to eat...and you have to eat slowly....taking small bites and chew, chew, chew...no drinking 30 minutes before meal and no drinking one hour after..or at least that is my doctors orders...every doctor is different, so yours might not require the drinking order....I don't know...Good luck to you...I hope all goes well for you....
-
Welcome to LBT...Maybe you should check with your doctor to see if he has changed his way of doing fills....Maybe in the beginning that is the only way they knew to do them...My doctor does not use Fluro/barium..She numbed the port area and then went in and filled...no real pain...just a little stick...was not bad at all.....good luck and I hope you can find a way to have a fill.....
-
Congrats on your banding....You have only been banded for three weeks and two days...you still have lots of swelling on inside...My doctor said not to worry about weight loss the first month...you are still healing...The weight will start to come off....just relax and enjoy your band....

Did anyone else feel like this before surgery?
Big As Life replied to AudreyG's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Audrey, You are so normal....I was scared to death....I was so afraid that something would go wrong and I couldn't have the surgery done...I was excited and scared at the same time... Honey, don't worry about what other people say or think....you owe them nothing....just get your band and start this wonderful journey...I was banded on 4/30/07 and I have lost 30 lbs....I am so glad I had this done....and the night before I started THE REQUIRED two week liquid diet before the surgery....My husband, two daughters and their families, went out to eat...we called it the "LAST SUPPER"...I was so glad I did...I enjoyed it very much...and it was a time for me to relax and have a great supper with my family.... -

Big As Life replied to Guera's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
congrats on pregnancy and the weight loss...that is great.... -
Welcome to LBT...congrats on your surgery...glad all is going well....
-
Felicia, That is sad that you can't get the support from you mom...I would just not dicuss anything about the surgery with her...Just know that you have lots of friends here at LBT, that will stand with you....and don't try to explain the surgery to anyone that you think will be negative...Only your opinion of the surgery counts...good luck....
-
Congrats on tummy tuck...that is great....glad you are back with LBT....

Great post...I loved it....good luck to all those getting ready for surgery...Hope everything goes well for all.... -
Just got home from the doctors office...had my first fill...I was so scared...it was nothing like I thought it would be....the doctor numbed the area and it didn't hurt at all....like a little bee sting....the fill didn't hurt at all...just pressure....I am so glad I have got that behind me...next time I will not be so freaked out....I drank a small little cup of Water and ate a few bites of a cracker...no problem....I go on liquids for today, mush tomorrow, and reg . foods on Saturday.... For all of those getting ready for the first fill, don't worry.....it is really not painful at all..... Hope all has a great weekend....

What I like most about exercising....
Big As Life replied to TerriDoodle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Terry & Connie, I need to get on target...I have shut out those little voices and I just don't exercise...I have a great treadmill, but I get so bored with that....I have lots of weights to work out with, but again, I get bored with it...I need to listen to those little voices and get busy....You both have inspired me to get up off my butt.....I will walk on my treadmill before the day is done...and I will work out with my weights...thanks for the inspiration.... -
Congrats on your band...that is great....I was banded on 4/6/07 and my first fill was 5/17/07...I have lost 30 lbs and I feel great....by the way....April 23, is my birthday...Be sure to go to the April banders thread...and be added to the list of April banders...
-
I have only had one fill, but I try to see how little I can eat and be satisfied...I don't try to see how much I can eat and be full...
-
It could also be your blood-sugar dropping....that can make you lightheaded...
