The Door To My Future Is Now Open
dylansmom replied to Drama Queen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congratulations on getting your band! I'm glad that you're home safe and sound! -
You can count on me too. Thanks for serving our country. I have a cousin and his wife in the service, and I still strongly support them and their cause. I believe in them and the hard work and dedication that they show each and every day. (As I do all service people) Thanks for keeping us aware, and I will always try to remember to not take my freedom for granted.

Hello! And welcome to LBT! Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I love talking to people from all over the world, and you're the first one from United Arab Emirates. (Sorry if I sound like an excited little kid, but the only other country I've ever been to is Canada, and that's only because it's right next to my state of Michigan, US) Feel free to browse around the site, and ask any and all questions that you have to. And congratulations on a much healthier life too!

Ready for a New Chance at Life
dylansmom replied to j_war06's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Jodi! Welcome to LBT!!! I'm so sorry to hear of your hard times in school. I too was teased relentlesly when in school, and was so happy to just graduate and get it over with! I hope and pray that this is your answer, and that you'll be on the road to better health very soon. Best Wishes To You! ~Kelly -
You're very welcome Betty! Anytime!

Job offer in Africa - food question
dylansmom replied to Road Queen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Holy smokes! I'm so drooling over here at the thought of going to the Congo! How cool is that! Congratulations to you first off on the AWESOME job offer! You go girl!!! I personally think that if there are no complications during or after your surgery, and you heal up ok, and you're doing fine, that everything would be ok. (Just my opinion) And if you could find a place to give fills ahead of time, that would totally rock! I have personally never felt weak from being banded, and as long as you are careful in what you eat (mainly just chew it up really well and stay away from things that will make you PB) I'll think you'll do fine. If you have 3-4 months from surgery date until you leave, that will definately give you plenty of time to get into the rhythm of your new banded life, and you'll feel more self confident in going. Whatever you decide, best wishes to you! What an awesome opportunity! -
Ditto to everything Kathy said!

I agree with Alex. I was one of those people too that healed very quickly. I was hungry from the word go after surgery, and could eat things very easily. I am still that way because I haven't had a fill yet, but still only eat half of what I used to eat. (But I just need to say that I haven't had a fill due to non band related medical issues. Nothing to do with the band at all.) So enjoy it for now, because from what I've heard, after having a fill it gets harder to eat.

I've never heard of getting this done up until now. What is the name of the test, and what does it exactly check for? I'm probably going to need to get it done at least before trying for a baby. Thanks for the info! I'm always up for staying on top of my health!

I think that if you'd feel more comfortable interviewing multiple doctors, then that's what you need to do. I couldn't afford it, because my surgeon charges $200 for the first consult. So it's all in what you can afford too. I still think that doing the online research is cheapest way to go, if money is an issue. A lot of times just calling their office and getting info. that way will work too. That's what made me want to meet my surgeon. Her assistant took the time to explain everything to me over the phone, and that's what helped me to make my decision. If their assistant isn't easy to work with, then forget it! Because they're the ones that you usually end up dealing with most often. I lucked out to hit it right on with the first try, but maybe others can join in here and give some good advice too. Best of luck to you!

Too weird seeing a thread started by Blossom. It kind of caught me off guard. I'd say that the Olive Oil and also Grapeseed Oil are both wonderful choices to help things slide down easier.

Paula - We cooked ours on 400 degrees for 30 - 45 minutes. I'd just check them to see how they look so that they don't get overcooked.

Hi Margo! It was so nice chatting with you last night! Sorry that Ann & I were typing so fast. Hopefully you were able to take it all in and learn a little bit more in spite of it all. It's so great to see your intro post, and I hope that you get all of your questions answered here. If you need anything EVER feel free to PM me or write me on the boards and I'll be there. Have a great day! ~Kelly

Country style ribs with sauce Spray cookie sheet/pizza sheet with Pam spray or smear a bit of olive oil on it. Then place ribs on sheet and coat with your favorite barbecue sauce. Bake and enjoy!

A little stupid question but how long did it take to get banded?
dylansmom replied to CollegeJoe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know my doc put me on an Atkins type style pre-op diet to help shrink the liver. Even if yours doesn't make you do it, it still might be a good idea. It's only for a week, and it actually helped me to get a head start on healthier eating. -
Congratulations! How awesome!

I was just reading a Walgreens flier and I see that they make a MicroMist sunless tanning spray. I wonder how that works? I also saw that Conair makes an electric sunless tanning sprayer too. You just plug it in, pop in a cartridge, and spray away! They claim that it's supposed to be safe for faces too. Anyone ever used that either? Seems they have so many different ways to get that beautiful fake tan now!

Congratulations everyone and good luck!

South Beach Diet Food At The Stores!!!
dylansmom replied to Tarafeena's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I remember my surgeon saying that if someone couldn't have the LapBand surgery done, that she highly recommends the South Beach diet. My mom was with me the very first time I met her, and mom had asked. Doc said that it is the best diet out there and is safe too. I have a recipie book of some of the foods, and the ones I've tried are VERY good!!!
