Hi Jana I use Zero Carb Isopure. It is designed especially for us WLS patients and can be purchased from GNC or other health food stores, or right here online. It comes in many different flavors and does give the 50 grams of Protein per serving. It's low in calories too, which is another reason why I chose this particular one. Hope this helps you. If you need anymore help or have any other questions feel free to hunt me down on here via PM or right here is fine too. Feel free to join us here for some good conversation as well. We are a small lot, but very friendly and close. All my best, Kelly

Wow. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Dody for stepping up to the plate in a major big way. I also encourage you Shakeerah to allow Dody to help you get your story out there. You have absolutely nothing to lose, and everything to gain from it. I agree that you should become a regular member of this community as well. There are some great people here, and we will all help you the best that we possibly can. I'm sorry if I came across too strongly in my earlier posts, especially since I agree at how important it is to protect our families and ourselves. Predators are everywhere, but so are people who genuinely need our help too. Thank you to everyone for your kind words to Shakeerah. I don't even know her personally, but there was something about her story that really struck a chord with me. I am in awe by the kindness that I've seen displayed here on LBT to this one person. This reminds me of why I love this place so much.

I honestly do not have any money to give. I am struggling here myself, and had insurance pay for most of my surgery. Which is the only way I could afford it. I was sick for so long, that I am just now paying off my doctor bills as well. You don't have to donate a dime to be kind to someone, however, and to welcome them into the fold at LBT. Kindness is priceless, less the self sacrifice it takes to give that kindness to the other person. P.S. And if it was just someone trying to scam us, then they probably won't come back. But at least we will have done our part to be kind, and it still hasn't cost us even a cent.

Kat - I think that she said that she lives with her mother, in which she would not be the one paying for the internet access, her mother would be. She also said that she does not have a job. I've emailed her and asked her to come back here for support, so let's all be nice and keep this positive please. Like I said before, we all have our own issues that we're dealing with, and others belittling or attacking us doesn't make us feel any better about them.

You know, I have to agree with Princess on this one. Shame on anyone for judging another person's situation. We have all had to battle our own demons, and we all have our own struggles. Instead of tearing this poor girl apart and judging, why don't we help her come up with some different ways of getting the funding that she'll need to have the surgery done? Thank you to everyone who has given her some ideas. Has anyone contacted her via email? She's probably too afraid to come back here now.

What am I missing? Why are ppl leaving?
dylansmom replied to gadgetlady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I was just going to keep my mouth shut. But since others are stepping forward, I might as well too. As far as not truly meaning it that I was considering leaving....well, that was the truth. I took about a 5 day breather from this place (stopped in only to check my PMs) while creating my own LapBand Family board. I couldn't believe how stress free I felt, and you know, it felt really good! I honestly don't care if people want to talk about sex here. Fine. It's your life, and I don't have to answer for you when I die, I only answer for myself. And no, I judge no one on how they choose to live. And yes, as an adult I've just learned to not even open those threads and go on about my business here. But I have to agree with Penni when she says that it's like we've moved away from even talking about LapBand related issues here. The other bone I have to pick is that I don't like being jumped on for expressing my sincere thoughts and emotions. If you don't agree with it, fine. You're entitled to that. But don't flame me and put me down because I'm a human being who has thoughts and feelings just like the rest of the human race. And while I'm on the subject.......I've never once put anyone down here for their religious beliefs. If you don't believe in God or choose to serve someone other than Jesus Christ, then that's your personal business. I have nothing against anyone who chooses to worship differently than I do. So please don't freekin jump down my throat because I choose to worship the Almighty. Because dear mam or sir, that is MY business! I love Paula more than words can say, and I hope that she doesn't mind my sharing this. I asked her what she thought of me creating another board and she said to me, "I would rather you stay here and fight for helping this place stay on the right track." Sadly, I thought to myself - fight for what? I honestly felt like there was nothing worth me staying to fight for. I know there are still some good people here, but my thoughts are extremely deep right now and I'm contemplating my next move. This goes way beyond a bratty kid walking away with a ball folks. Waaaaaaay beyond. And on that note I will close. -

Wow. I couldn't have said it any better myself Megan. *Takes a bow to you* -
I don't authorize an all day pig out session girl, but I do authorize you to choose 1 ONE of those things you just listed, and enjoy every last little morsel of it nice and slowly. That way you get to enjoy your occassional treat (notice I did say occassional), which keeps the cravings at bay, and also lets you feel guiltless about enjoying it as well. Be kind to yourself, and allow yourself that once per week or month (you decide for yourself) treat. It'll make your head and your stomach both a little happier. *Everything in moderation is a beautiful thing. Food extremes will make you insane - so don't do it to yourself!*

Is it too late to join in the Valentines exchange
dylansmom replied to lotsofkids's topic in The Lounge
If you 2 would like to exchange v day gifts that is totally cool. RALHEIT and lotsofkids can be exchange buddies if you'd like. Please just know that it would be unofficially, and will not be governed by myself or the V day rules. Ok? -

I know that this situation is hard for you, but I am so proud of you for doing what is right for your children. It's a shame that your husband is acting like this, and I'm sorry that it's happening to you. You are such a sweet woman and wonderful mother. Many Hugs

As the New Yorkers say, "Fo-ghettaboutit!" Girl, you are such a ray of sunshine to so many of us here. I know that you and I are 2 totally different kind of people, but we have a deep and mutual respect for each other, and that's all that matters. You are a wonderful and beautiful human being, and are well loved by so many of us here. XOXOXOXO

Erosion, The Real Facts
dylansmom replied to Ariel Ortiz M.D. FACS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Agreeing with Big Paul 100%. Please be informed before making your decision. It's one of the most important that you'll probably ever make. I also want to thank Betty for her comments. I couldn't have said it better myself. Your wisdom and kindness shine through once again. I love all of the LBT members who have eroded, and could not imagine my life without them here. They are some of the first bandsters that I came to love, and how big of them to want to stay and encourage us, even amidst their own suffering, grief, and turmoil. You are all loved, valued, and appreciated way more than you'll ever know. Thank you also to the doctors for coming on to offer your medical knowledge as well. And thank you to Alexandra for keeping that ever important LBT balance in this thread as well. Lots of love all of the way around. -
I've only seen the first few pages of that thread, and will have to go read the rest of it here shortly. But please know that I love you very much, and I too am so grateful that you've decided to stay here with us at LBT. You are one of the few individuals that I've spoken with on the phone, and one of the few that I feel a special connection with. Your compassion, love of life, and inner beauty are what draw me to you the most. Please know that you are definately loved and cared about very much, and please do not let rude or unkind words detract from that. Much love and many blessings to you my dear Penni.

Thanks for sharing. We just, and I do mean just, switched to the Degree brand last week! They are one of the few brands of deoderant on the market that does not contain aluminum in its formulation. And I tested out my Degree during my first Tae Kwon-Do class and the results were amazing! No stink what-so-ever after an hours worth of work out. Highly recommend it!

Don't even get me started about the gas issues I have around period time. :attention:
-
I don't mean to sound like a know it all or snot, but this is not a new band. This is the Vanguard band which some of us here have installed around our gullets. It is used for patients who have larger stomachs, and some doctors believe that they have lower erosion rates. (Not saying I agree with this, but it is one theory.) I hope that cleared up the confusion for you. They've been around for a while now.

That's insane! LOL I've never seen anything like that in my life. Too funny!

Congratulations to you! You must feel so excited and proud of yourself! After losing enough weight to get your PS done, quitting smoking will be the icing on the cake for you! GREAT JOB!
