Those who know me well know I have had a few set backs this summer due to my knees and it has kept me from reaching my goal of having WLS! I never thought that at the age of 36 I would be walking with the assistance of a cane or walker. Aside form having chron's disease I thought I was pretty healthy because I don't have high blood pressure, cholesterol or heart issues.
Then last year I started having issues with bending, stooping, getting off the floor for everyday activities and/or walking places without having to stop and sit down. When this all happened I just figured okay I stepped wrong ect.... That wasn't the case at all the cartridge in my knees were slowly going away! My knee joints are now bone on bone!
Now I am at the point where I had surgery on my left knee and it did nothing and the right knee is now just as bad at the left knee because even though it hurt off and on I have put all my weight on to that leg to help the left knee. I was off of work for three months because I could not walk. I finally am back at work for 16-20 hours a week and I cant stand for more then an hour at a time and when I leave to go home I have issues bending my knees to climb into the escape!
My Doctor who performed the surgery has been giving me gel injections which are not working. I have three more shots to go and have been told to stop physical therapy. He has said many times until I have the WLS I will not get any relief. Once the shots are done I am under the impression my doctor will wash his hands of me so I have made an appointment with doctor who specializes in arthritis!
I WANT TO SEE THE GORILLAS AGAIN AT THE COLUMBUS ZOO! I COULD NOT WALK THE ZOO LAST YEAR BUT I WILL NEXT YEAR!
IF YOU ARE ON THE FENCE ABOUT WLS FOR WHATEVER REASON PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THE BONUSES OF HAVING THIS TOOL OUT THERE FOR US TO UTILIZE FOR GETTING HEALTHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
