Hard Time Dealing And Trying To Stay Away From Old Habits...
Carly replied to frpringle's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
O my goodness, how awful. Godspeed for a quick recovery. I know what you mean by comfort foods. Just try to remind yourself how truly uncomfortable they make you feel. And also, move, keep busy, don't sit and watch tv. Just tend to your son and focus on him whenever you feel the desire to snack, and remember, he needs you to be strong and healthy too. Best of luck. -
This is my 5th day post op and still havent gone to the bathroom yet. Is this normal? Of course I am peeing, but not the other.

Thank you Wheetsin, Finally had success, but that was six days! Can't wait to have some more substance in my diet.

Welcome Nancy! I haven't told anyone yet, so I don't know about the judging part, and my first day back at work is tomorrow. I wouldn't say this is the easy way out. I was never really overweight until my thirties, but since that time I have tried a myriad of diets and ways to get back into my old self. What I came to realize is that the habits that I had built, as a child and teenager, of hiding sweets and indulging secretly and generally just making food choices based on emotions, were the real sabotagers in my quest. It took me a long time to get to this point, and it will take me a long time to get out. What I see the beauty of this aide of vsg is that it is a support for my sincere desire to change my life. Obviously, I need support, and no one has the right to judge someone for that. Best wishes to you!

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
Carly replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah, I had a hard time getting comfortable too. That's one of the reasons that I decided to go home rather than spend the second night in the hospital. The IV is a pain, another reason I wanted to get out of there. Good luck! -

Carly replied to kimmr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you find an answer? I am having a similar problem. -
Thanks y'all. I guess the problem is I am on clear fluids, so no bulk. Applesauce sounds so good. Maybe next week?

1 Year On I Am Gaining Weight

There have been a lot of studies lately proving the negative effects of diet sodas and also linking them to cravings. I would suggest to stop drinking them and see what happens. Best of luck ! -
My Very Personal Reasons For Having The Sleeve
Carly replied to AmberDawn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Nice list Amber! I agree with all of it, especially flying. Since I am living in Kuwait now, we go back to the US for the summers, and those 13+ hours of flying are so uncomfortable. I am the only one in our family who doesn't get any sleep on the flight. Also, I feel so bad because my littlest one sits beside me, and he gets crowded in by me. Hopefully, I will have lost enough pounds by this summer to notice a small difference. I also can relate to the joke thing. I think I am the only really overweight person at my work, and I hate it when they all talk about how they are fat, when in reality they are thin. Anyway, thanks for the list! -
Did something not so smart fora newly sleeved and read a website that was all speaking disparagingly about VSG in the long run. They said there is a conspiracy of silence with people who are 6 years out plus. They were maintaining that the results of having a much smaller stomach had serious negative effects on health. I did my own research on WLS and decided aginst bypasss for those aforementioned reasons. I didnt find negative health reprecussions related to the sleeve tho. Is anyone on here a longer term sleever? Or does anyone know someone who has had this operation a while back? Help?!

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

Just a quick update. This is day 4 for me. I have been making progress in terms of amount of liquid. It is definitely easier to get it down now. I am feeling less nauseated; although, I didn't throw up, at times I just feel like I've been riding on a Greyhound bus all day- queezy. Went to the grocery store, and I think I will let my husband take over for the shopping for awhile. It is hard to see all the things I can't enjoy. I am not really hungry, but I have a sort of sad, cavernous feeling, if that makes sense. As my dad would probably say, "my stomach must think my neck's been slit." Anyway best of luck to all of us! Take care y'all. -
Hey thanks y'all. I feel better after all of that anecdotal evidence. I will remember to stay away from that blog. hope everyone is well and progressing. Thanks again!

I was super thirsty too. I didnt have any fluids the first day. I am doing a bit better. Seems like I am only getting in about 20 oz of fluids, but thats up from yesterday's 13 oz. i think I feel lighter even though I am not weighing yet. The absence of bad food is feeling good. I decided to try not to weigh very much because I really want to focus on the journey, not the end. Hope everyone going in has great success. My thoughts and well wishes are with you all. Thank you for all of the good energy sent my way! -
Hey Deedles, I am doing better thank God. The day after surgery was a bit hard. I had some powerful gas pains, but right now I am just working on trying to get enough liquid in. I am drinking water, veggie broth, activia, and a little juice. I have been trying to walk but mostly just around in the house. I feel that as soon as I am able to eat more 'normally' the real work will start-psychological stuff. Hopefully you will be just fine. I think I feel better just not having any of the bad foods in my system. Best wishes!

Sweets, Snacks, Sneaks And Lies
Carly replied to Writergirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You have quite a talent with words, and how did you read my life/mind anyway? You are right though, if we want to be successful, we have to be honest with ourselves. I know I didn't get here by some fluke, I walked my big butt right into this predicament with my eyes/mind closed, and the only way out now is to be opened. Opened to a new way of eating, thinking, and coping. Thanks for a great post! -

Thanks Vsglass, It is baby steps for me now. I am trying to get all the liquids in but not always successful. I am home now and slothing around my house. Hoping I will feel better soon. Still kind of nauseated. Best wishes to all! -

Today has been a little worse in terms of pain. I had that excruciating gas pain that I have been reading about. Hopefully the walking will help to get rid of it. I am finally sipping on baby cups of water. they said I could go home today if I can get enough liquid down and if I want to. We'll see. I made the mistake of hurrying home when I had a c-section. Don't want to rush it but missing my kids! -
Hey Deedles, I am in the hospital day 1 postoperative. I am worried about going bald too. Been looking at where to buy hairpieces! Hopefully it won't come to that. Take care.
